Wow, you have to understand the practices of the Isis cult, Greco Roman traditions, how Martin Luther himself translated Hebrew, how different Hebrew words could conceivably be translated (FOR GOD'S SAKE DO NOT TRUST the translators tied to the bible sitting right in front of you in the pew).... In short, the plain reading of half a dozen Old and New Testament scripture will lead you astray friend, trust me (the woke pastor): the Bible actually says that homosexuality is a blessing and should be celebrated once a year for a month. And if the bible leads a normal person reading a normal translation that astray over so many passages, does not that invalidate Protestantism? It is incredibly dangerous then for somebody who actually has a useful job and responsibilities -- and cannot individually research the Isis cult and every other conceivable historical context -- to be so misled by the plain text of the bible. No sir, you need high priests to tell your lying eyes that you are being bamboozled by Timothy, Paul, ...

This is the same old game that has been played by critical academics for a couple hundred years: historical-critical interpretive method. The idea is, you can circumvent the meaning of the text by referencing history BEHIND the text. This approach creates a "canon behind the canon" or, more accurately, "history as authority over canon." The basic idea here is that historical-critical methods, rather than the text itself. Exegesis and literary analysis are essentially ignored in this approach, or so maligned that their purpose is rendered useless. A simpler way of saying this is that DOUBT rather than BELIEF is the proper disposition toward the text. If you read something you don't like, then go dig up some history that will permit you to ignore what is written. So at the end of the day, interpretive method isn't even the foundation of the issue; it's really a matter of AUTHORITY, with downstream implications for sufficiency, necessity, and clarity of Scripture. This approach does have a facade of concern for exegesis: there is always a complementary discussion of original languages and translation philosophies involved. But these are not really exegetical discussions at all: they are a continuation of historical-critical methods. "The word is translated "x" but it should have/could have been translated as "y"" Again, the critical method is promoted here, not the actual text. Textual criticism in this context always reverts BACK to the method. There is no REAL exegesis taking place at all. The same can be said for literary arguments, which are far less frequently presented, but follow the same critical approach. I am not saying there is no use for historical criticism. But any tool can be abused. Any tool that is elevated above the text is satanic. The problem comes in when ANY method is given authority over the text, so that what God said is said to NOT have been said. Scripture interprets scripture. There is NO METHODOLOGICAL APPROACH that supplants the authority of Scripture. You aren't even dealing with method at that point, but rather, engaging in combat with Satan. Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! (Isaiah 5:20)

I am currently not a Christian, though I used to believe. It's complicated. But it's obvious to me that the pastor here is doing his best to spin Scripture ("torture" might be a more accurate term) to justify something that the Bible plainly condemns. Progressives do this all the time, arguing, for instance, that Jesus didn't really teach about hell, which is actually only a garbage dump outside Jerusalem. Spoiler alert: Jesus believed in everlasting physical punishment for the damned. Rev. Powell, believe what you want, but don't insult my intelligence with your verbal sleight of hand.

You, as a pastor, are held to a higher standard by God, and will be judged by God to a higher standard for your time as a pastor. The Bible is VERY CLEAR about the sin of homosexuality. You, and the rest of the "pastors" and "leadership" of your denomination...........Jesus hit the nail on the head and called it back then. Mathew 23:27 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean. 28 In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness. Jesus also told His disciples that there is nothing new under the sun..........you and your kind are the modern day version of what Jesus faced in His day. Well guess what? If you haven't been sealed and given over to Satan yet, you literally have very little time left to repent and get right with Jesus. Judgement starts in the church and we are just about to literally see that happen. Matthew 18:6 New International Version (NIV)“If anyone causes one of these little ones-those who believe in me-to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.

The more i dug into Scripture and historic Methodist doctrine the more i realized how wrong i was. .i fasted and prayed and spent some time studying and realized how wrong i was. I repented . I am pastoring an independent church, unfortunately i know of no Global Methodist Church in my area. The simple fact is Jesus defined " marriage between a man and a woman" and they were created " man and woman".

Unfortunately, I believe some use Bible passages to justify their own biases. I believe in the preeminence of the New Covenant. Love God with all your heart and soul, and love others as yourselves. “Traditionalists” who leave the UMC out of conscience need to do what they’re called to do. That doesn’t mean they are free to assume the Lord’s role in judging others.

It's time people stop being Methodist and start being Christians anytime you put man's. Thinking ahead of God's word. You are already going in the wrong direction. John, Wesley would not even preach on the end times because he's self-admittedly did not understand it. Instead, he chose to walk around with his head in the sand when the fact of the matter is Jesus could return it any moment and we need to live our lives as if that is about to happen but to ignore that fact is a disservice and not preaching the whole gospel nor is it rightly dividing the word nor is it preaching in season and out of season. I just don't understand what's wrong with people today. Why in the world do you people put men's thoughts and some paragraph that some doctor from some seminary school wrote ahead of God's word? Do you not understand that the word is God? The word was God. Basically God is the word and all we've done is changed Bible versions until we finally find one that fits our lifestyle. Do you not understand about that as well? That in order to do a new version of the Bible you have to change it by 60%?; is what are you changing? What in the world can you possibly change from a direct translated holy Bible and still have it say the same thing? Answer you don't have the problems. I believe in churches today because they read Bibles that are out of hell that men and women right through the influence of Satan. We even have Bibles today that say Mary was a young girl instead of a virgin Bibles that don't proclaim that jesus was the only begotten son because Jesus was of the very substance of God, the father. He was not just a son of God. He was the only begotten son and there is a big difference. The fact of the matter is we as Americans and as Christians need to get back to God's word we need to rightly divide it. We need to preach it in season and out of season because I promise you. The Bible tells us that he will hold you as specially accountable if you are a teacher or a preacher. This has given me so much righteous anger. I can't even sleep at night anymore. That's right. I said righteous anger because we should be angry about this. We should be hurt and disappointed and also determined because God tells us that they hated him. So because of that, they're going to hate us too. I know this is a bunch of run-on sentences but I'm talking to text here because I'm on fire right now. My goodness. You know what I really think. I think a lot of people just need to get saved

You are the epitome of Romans chapter 1 verse 22 Don't you understand that this kind of lifestyle is a judgment on America? Read Romans chapter 1, verses 25, 26 and 27 Go ahead and stand with that crowd but the Bible says if you calls others as a minister of the gospel to turn away from Christ, their blood will be on your hands so you're going to have to answer for that In my opinion that UMC doctor now is straight out of hell and it is like as if it was the serpent appearing to Eve. A little bit of truth with a whole lot of lies By the way, make sure you read the KJV when you read the scriptures I asked you to look at

Sorry, but you need to repent. You can't be a gay Christian any more than you can be a Christian adulterer, or Christian bank robber, or Christian kidnapper or on and on. Here is what the Bible says about homosexuality. Leviticus 18:22 says, "Do not have sex with a man as with a woman; that is DETESTABLE. Romans 1:27 says, "In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed SHAMEFUL acts with other men and received in themselves the due penalty for their error." 1st Timothy 1:10 says, "... sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality...and liars and perjurers-and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine." 1st Corinthians 6:9-11 says, "Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God." This is where a Christian who really believes the Bible to be God's word, must warn the homosexual what God actually says about homosexuality. If you love the homosexual, how could you possibly not warn him/her about what they will face on Judgment Day if they don't turn to Jesus Christ and repent (walk away from sin.) That goes for adultery, lying, stealing, drugs, drunkenness, and every other sin God warns us about. Also, every single verse about marriage is ALWAYS between a man and his WIFE or a woman and her HUSBAND. NEVER a man and his husband or a woman and her wife.

Powell has probably yet to be visited by UMC's ghost of Christmas past, Bishop Finis Crutchfield. His chains, like those of the ghost of Jacob Marley will burden the UMC to eternal damnation. Repent or perish. Read the following verses, of course this does not mention homosexuality, it only mentions fornication but what is homosexuality without at least a smidgeon of fornication? 1 Cor 5:1-5 It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father's wife. And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you. For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed, In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?

That's what I find difficult about my much more conservative Christian religion. I have talked to one who said they were never assaulted as a child and had a good upbringing but just are repulsed by the opposite sex. Like full on panic attack when they try to have sex with the person they like of opposite sex. However with the same sex it's totally comfortable. I couldn't imagine being gay and trying to stay celibate for 65+ years if I only found the same attractive. With that said I am fully prolife and don't agree with Trans having any teaching/preaching part of a church. Seems like Christian churches are either far left or far right. I can't find a more conservative church that allows women to help out in higher positions and allow LG people to live together without having to be wishy-washy on abortion or trans issues or getting your pets a blessing. It's all "Mostly all or nothing."

14:40 - To say that Paul is writing the Roman Christians to not fall into the Isis cult is not reasonable. He's not warning about anything other than God's wrath will befall the unrighteous and then gives a generic history of generic unrighteous people. Then he actually warns that THEY should not judge the unrighteous simply because they don't do that particular sin. Look, the best argument that can be given for Christians to be able to engage in homosexual relationships is this: Acts 15 (Jerusalem Council), 1st Corinthians 10:23 and Galatians 3:24 (not devoid of 5:16, of course). You have to overcome a huge hurdle with Galatians 5:19-21: fornication/sexual immorality. Nonetheless, if you take Acts 15 , 1st Corinthians 10:23 & Galatians 3:24, you'll see that obeying the Mosaic Law does not bring Salvation. However, why does the Christian not murder? Galatians 5:16. Walking in the Spirit (the Author of the the Law) is here to guide us individually. Christians who read the Bible, pray and hang out with other Christians that do the same will be convicted of sin (John 16:8 & Matthew 18:20). This has huge implications, but as long as Christians don't pre-screen for churches that will accept their specific issue, they need to believe and trust that the Holy Spirit is guiding them through their local church as to what they should/shouldn't be doing (profitable). The Rich Young Ruler kind of situation would be told to give up his wealth in that kind of church. That doesn't make people who had the same wealth as him always sinning, but the Holy Spirit will guide individuals in their specific walk. So, in my understanding, you'd have to have a church that would see a couple (homosexual or not) that was not married yet living together as a romantic partnership and see that specific couple as being lead by the Spirit. The reason the couple couldn't be married is because in no way can a church ordain a homosexual marriage. Jesus is pretty clear that marriage is between 1 man and 1 woman in Matthew 19:4-6. Therefore, if a church can see a couple living together yet not married as being lead by the Spirit, it's possible for that couple to be gay. However, it's rather unlikely due to Galatians 5:19-21. So, if you trust the Holy Spirit is in that local church and will convict people of sins like the Rich Young Ruler, He will guide those people.
