Work and responsibilities run your life if you let them. I have always admired those who follow their dreams and live by their own rules. I never had that courage, I always looked at the long term and planned to leave something behind for those that I love so that they may have the chance to follow their dreams. I slogged away at an all-consuming and somewhat dangerous occupation, sacrificing happiness for a stable future. Well, that time has finally passed, save for a few mental scars. I hope that time will be forgotten. It's finally time for me to live my dreams. I, along with my gorgeous wife, are now travellers on a budget. Skimping and scrapping what we can together in an attempt to see as much of this planet as we can afford. Our adventures will be chronicled on TH-cam, so not only friends and family can follow what we are up to, but anyone who has interest and internet access can as well. I hope you will enjoy our adventures with us.

Sounds like a place we won't ever be going to! That's a really shit experience!
Well done! I proves that even people with long hair can make it!

Shymkent is like a more calm version of India. I remember going to Kazakhstan and thinking the drivers were crazy, then I went to India…

Hi Swyanny, welcome to Uzbekistan. It's good that you showed these memorials. During WWII, Uzbekistan had a population of only 4 million, yet it lost more men in the war than the United States. Can you imagine how horrible that time was for our nation?
My parents both served in that war, and my cousin was killed fighting in the Battle of Britain. I always pay respects to the fallen wherever we go. You would think that by now we would all have learned that killing for land is the most barbaric act ever created by man. Sadly, some people are still living in 1939 😢. I pray Uzbekistan never suffers such losses again.
15.08 - Turkiston Palace (Uzbek: Turkiston Saroyi) is an arts venue in the capital city of Tashkent in Uzbekistan. It was opened on the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov in 1993 in honor of the second anniversary of the Independence of Uzbekistan

When i went all the girls Seem to Stare and smile at you. i had the Same Experience when i went to Manila in Philippines as well. Probably because i was a foreigner. 😆
lol, I had the same experience. I remember one woman stopped in her tracks and stared with her mouth open peering at me as I walked by. I felt like an escaped animal from the zoo. There are Russians living in the city but my wife tells me I definitely do not look Russian, lol.
I just came back from a week in Bishkek. I'm from Australia. Such a lovely place. I went to the Osh Bazaar a couple of times and it's always so crowded. 😅😅 But everyone is nice. I don't speak Russian so i didn't know what people were asking me half the time. 😅😅

Lol, thanks for sharing. When making videos we hope to connect with people and you have made our day. My hubby is relieved that your hubby is a kiwi and not quite Australian because he thinks that he is the only Australian to have been on these kind of Kyrgyzstan adventures and as such he is hoping to have a statue of himself in a park somewhere due to being a famous Australian Explorer. Cannon fodder led by fools on a mission to protrct who from who? Reflect, they died martyrs of stupidity.
Nice video Kevin. It brought back a lot of memories especially the Gymea baths and the Coonong creek. We use to walk from Sylvania Road down into the bushes into the creek to Coonong walking in waist high water just to get to the baths. We fished there and caught so many fish. David Nelson and I caught squid, yellowtail to bigger mackerel. We also submerged ourselves under the pontoons on the hot days. To see it open is odd. I'm Jennifer Palmers' brother who was 1 year below you. All the best in your travels.
I remember you. We used to use squid as bait before the Italians taught us it was calamari, lol. I saw someone comment that the Baths are fixed, so my visit caught it at a historic moment.
-23°C is my record, in Rīga, Latvia. As for the meaning of Bishkek, "the stick that stirs the horse milk" sounds like a grand name for a glorious central Asian republic!
Now I know that I can survive in those temperatures places like Canada and Siberia and even Tasmania are on my can visit destinations. I am not totally sure about the Bishkek origins or whether that story was just meant to stir me up.
I'm like you an Aussie with Kyrgyz wife who I met when I worked there in 2007. We live both in Brisbane and Bishy. Love the place.

Actually, I learnt on our visit that the Turks only had one company defending Gallipoli as they knew there would be a landing but did not know where. We made it within metres of achieving the objective on the first day but the British ordered a halt until supplies landed. The Kiwis got to the top and waited for us to get there from our side, but the delay allowed Ataturk to get reinforcements to the top and the battlefield froze.
The British Generals who thought this was a good place to land troops must have been asleep in class at military academy. Given the geography and the fact that Ataturk knew what he was doing and had such well-established troops at the top of the cliff line, the allied forces, including ANZAC, had no hope of achieving their mission at that location. We're so lucky that the Turks are sporting about this, and look after the monuments and grave sites.
lol, Bishkek Park still playing Xmas music🤪
