Hay Trolley in action
มุมมอง 8202 ปีที่แล้ว
This is an Olson hay trolley system used to unload small square bales from a wagon into the hay mow for storage and feeding later on. This was a common way of doing this from about the late 1800s to the 1970s or 80s. Seldom seen in use anymore.

Your dead on with the problem and solution! Thanks. I just can't figure out how to unzip the seat cover. I tapped the rod lightly with a hammer while adjusting the tilt till the rod lined up and slid back in and didn't remove the seat from the truck. Thanks again, joe.

    I didn’t hear/read specific sizes, so here they are: Allen = 6mm, bolt heads = 13mm, wedge bolt = 10mm.

I've installed this seal but the inside seal doesn't spin with the spline shaft. Did I do something wrong? Is there a way to fix this without taking out the seal all over again?

When you don't have a lift it's a PITA as you can't hardly get your head in there to fish the lines through or find that bracket bolt. One trick that worked great for me was using those caulk tube caps on the ends to keep it from slinging oil around as you fish the lines out.

Thanks for the vid, about to do this. My only question.. does the new motor need timed/clocked? Before installing? Or maybe it is out of the box

Hey Mike, I saw Minnesota license plates on your truck. I live in Georgia, but grew up near Glencoe, MN where my Dad used one of these hay trolley's on our old farmstead as I grew up. He switched over to the conveyer /elevator system when I was of age to handle hay bales as I recall. Brings back many fond memories. All the best! Fyi, I'm currently building a small barn shed in my backyard and am thinking of adding a widow's peak or turkey foot overhang with a pulley to lift a bale up and tie it off, simply as historical decor of a time past, a time of 1870's Barns and Louden / F. E. Myers hay trolleys. 👍

Hi Mike. How did you make out with this? I have a 2005 Highlander Limited. An aftermarket seller (reputable) can't promise when parts will come in so they cancelled my order. While I found a machine shop that has done this, I haven't yet pursued them to ask if they've done three piece shafts often and how those have worked out...the aftermarket seller warned me they've seen it attempted but lots of problems with three piece shaft unless a shop as a very expensive balancer for three piece shafts. Ugh

I adjusted it to a slight decline where I was comfortable with it and left it disconnected and just left it like that. Doesnt lean either way anymore but at least its comfortable again.

@@raullaguna85 yes, I slowly tapped the rod back into place. Very gently though, there are plastic components in that assembly. I hit the recline button back and forth until I could tell it was in correctly.

Just bought a 2005 Caddy srx off of a mechanic it has 250.000 miles on it, mechanic told me that oil is the key to these engines, He told Me to change oil every 3.000 miles and throw in a bottle of rislone. He's owned it since it was brand new. No problems. And also don't let it get below a half qt of oil..

I replaced my sitting-in-the-driveway 2012 F150 Platinum with 236K miles. Passenger side only. I tried to order just the motor on Rockauto and got the driver's side seven times. I finally gave up and found one on Amazon. I took the three bolts out and then drove the motor out with the chisel, and it came right out. The hardest thing was putting the aluminum key back in correctly. I got lucky in not taking the running board off. I wish I had seen your video first. Overall it took an hour to remove the old one and put the new one on, but 30 minutes was messing with the key wedge and bold that holds the running board up. It was a pain. I finally pushed it up and held the running board (scissor-type arms) to hold it in place and just inched it into place. Been working great. Your video was excellent and will save some people some time. (Side note: Mine has been garaged, and had no corrosion on it)
