who will save the disability folks from climate change crises?
Welcome to disability sausage media as we dive in to how disability can be saved from climate change crises! Climate change doesn’t just make bad things worse-it rips the lid off the inequities we’ve allowed to fester for far too long. It’s a brutal reminder that, while we’re all affected, some are hit much harder. Disability sausage media digs deep on this chatter for today.
And who bears the brunt of it? Persons with disabilities, the rural folks and marginalized communities. It's not a coincidence. It’s a glaring symptom of systemic neglect.
Let’s not sugarcoat this. When a natural disaster strikes, or when extreme weather sets in, people with disabilities are often left behind. 16 % of the population are PW’s.
A World Bank study shows that people with disabilities are four to five times more likely to die during such events. Imagine that: four to five times. And yet, the voices of the disability community are missing from most climate conversations. Why? Because society still pretends that climate justice and disability justice exist in separate worlds. Spoiler alert: they don’t.
Let me make this personal. During an early flooding in Kenya, our rural homes turned into river beds I mean flood zones. The rains split farms and roads became impassable. Commodities -a basic necessity-were scarce. My late dad frequent visit to hospital became extra difficult, the simplest daily tasks exhausting. The floods weren’t just a weather event; it was a full-on assault on our lives. And for so many in the community of disabilities this is our reality during climate disasters-ignored, unsupported, and left to fend for ourselves.
even the government support never reached us.

Final Poem To My Dad (I miss you)
มุมมอง 652 หลายเดือนก่อน
I Miss You, Dad The air feels heavy, thick with a grief unspoken, A constant ache that settles, a weight unbroken. The world keeps turning, a relentless tide, but my heart stands still, where you used to reside. I miss you, Dad, in the quiet of the morn, when sunlight paints the walls, a brand-new dawn. I used to hear you hum, a melody so sweet, as sweet uji brewed, a symphony bittersweet. I mi...

Why the cry of Mercy Tarus, led to the Gen Z Kenyan revolution: As disability sausage media we opine the social media has become the new norm in handling geopolitics. This is evidently by the Kenyan Gen z revolution movement A mere public participation by young Kenyans ignited the fire. How did it begin? Historically in the African culture young people are not supposed to question their elders,...
the cycophant Kenayn senator says am not sorry

As disability sausage media we dare say. Kenyans deserve better from a nominated senator. Most Kenyans are very angry by the remarks presented by a nominated senator. From ongoing Kenyan pudge, she seems not to be sorry, She has displayed total disregard of basic tenets of being a leader and for got to represent the gender principle as envisaged in the constitution. In her public life she has c...

Spoken truths by the visually impaired Kenyan senator On behalf of Kenyan citizenry and disability sausage media we highly associate ourselves with the statement made by senator Asige. As disability sausage media we are deeply perturbed by the hypocrisy of Kenyan senators. As evidenced the Kisii senator is cry crocodile tears while he would have acted. He has all the tools of power. Bring policy legislation and offer oversite measure. The mere fact of crying to the public gallery shows how insensitive they are. What happens to the rural Kenyans under the hard economic inequal...

As disability sausage media we join all Kenyans of all generations to reject finance bill and ask the president to listen to the people. Most of the times public policies are developed without us. For example, Obviously, persons with disabilities are the worst hit by the recent budget cuts for NCPWD Unfair social health fund and punitive tax increase of assistive devices for the Blind and wheel...

Crocodile what??nowonder your channel is called disability whatever
Onyoka for president
God bless you 🙏
💯 right. Problem is that he is addressing deaf and dumb honorable members.
The dealers of medicines to private hospitals, you go to private clinics and hospitals you will find all the medicines, but very expensive,
Misleading headlines... Onyonka has been consistent through and through. You have not been paying attention. He once predicted the youth protest on Citizen TV live but as usual people took him for granted
This man true kenyana who feel for kenyans..we need change..
Crocodile tears???onyonka has a point and you media you are writing nonsense
Bravo Lady Asige, you've failed it. Keep shinning ❤❤❤ you've displayed empathy than those who can witness the horrifying scenes
Africa needs more of him. He has stirred emotions across not just the continent, but worldwide. Leaders should remember who put them in power, they owe the populace a duty to care.
Dont insults our kisii senator at least he has the guts to say the truth while others can't ..for your information we will vote him again he is our son and we are proud of him 😊
If I understood senator Onyonka well, he is accepting that he and fellow leaders have not lived up to the Kenyan's expectations. They have failed us as leaders. He is not saying he is better than them. He is not infallible, modesty of our leaders is the key.
For thus one it's not crocodile tears he is not known to do the things they do.Onyonka has been consistent.

thanks for the support
This is a valid concern. I agree with Paul Mugambi. They should be given opportunity to showcase their talent and their abilities. Society and organizations are normally focus on their disabilities instead of their ABILITIES. Keep up the good work of advocating for persons with disabilities. Thanks Eddah Kamau for sharing.
So eloquent. An informative discourse. I stopped watching that show because of "V.I" Character. Let's get our own coz it's possible.
