I am applying a clear oil varnish on the bare wood of the walnut violin. I will apply two coats and then sand the violin and decide if I need another coat of varnish. I will do this until I am happy with the look and feel of the instrument. The spruce top will be varnished brown, but the walnut will be just clear varnish.
