Grateful Dead England 1970 (The Lost Film)
มุมมอง 359K2 ปีที่แล้ว
The lost documentary of the Grateful Dead's first trip to England in May of 1970. As the story goes, the camera crew was dosed during filming and the project was abandoned. Leaving the film in a rough unfinished state. Some of this footage has appeared on my channel before, however, this is the documentary in full.

In spite of the black and white it's easy to imagine the glow of the sky
That music critic the interviewer mentions must have done more acid than the entire band combined.
All these interesting comments got me invested in this video. Lets pack a bowl, shall we?
Gonna be many moons before there is another J.G. Where was that version of "Deal " from? Anyone ?
Language itself is heavy bias.
Love it all. Love every one of them who believed and showed up offering the best of what they had and couldn't wait for the next tourone always had somethìng to look forward to dreaming of the possibilities so full of hopes...keep whomever is left inspired and healthier than yesterday n far away from suffering. Amen
My friends and I used to take the subway from Brooklyn to Manhattan to see concerts at that band show during those years. We would also see David Peele and the lower Eastside perform out of a van. Those were crazy days and we were young teenagers.
Pig on congas!
Interesting to hear Mickey talk about what became 72 tour... and he was not along for that ride! They had Mickey's Daddy issues! Too Bad, but Mickey's withdrawl was understandable. This is very cool listening to them all discussing different aspects of their creative process, how the band works together (kind of) and their plans...
Crazy what this would evolve into.
No pedals that I could see. Crazy!
I have never understood the fascination with JerryGarcia. I always considered him, only an average musician, and certainly not on Par with even the wonderful musicians of his peers
Truly decent person...not perfect, but true to his being.
That was an unexpected treat ! Ahhhh those days....... Got on the bus in 71
What was in the vile Phil?
Extremely lucid, elegant and eloquent.
I wonder if they got to use those ashtrays that used to be in all of the armrests on the airplanes? I always took notice of those when I was a young kid flying on delta but they were leftover from an age where people could actually smoke while flying
Great dis from Weir towards the end.
Is this the same father Miles Riley accused of SA of an 11 year old girl?
Yarp❤🎉❤
They looked high on LSD. But I read they didnt do that when playing live. They certainly created an LSD experience with sound that day!
everyone smoking, those were the days...
Kind of crazy he was only in his early thirties during this
That insurance scam was nothing short of brilliant. Tip over some desks and erase the blackboard. That must have brought a hefty claim $$$
Wonderful
Three squid.
jerry jerry gone too soon but we had ya
Seeing Jerry, Phil and Bob tame Candyman is priceless. Thank you for this.
Is this the longest walk to catch a flight in aviation history?
WoW!! This is a Treat Definitely receiving Treatment
Sad that Jerry was just getting into heroin ("Persian") at this point, while making the GD movie. What a shame; he grew up in SF bars, had seen many junkies. Wish he had kept this Mind here.
I've already commented once, but damn, this video is so fun to watch. This pretty much sums up as to why I have loved this band for the past 45 years. Thank you for posting this gem!
lol. Jerry sitting here talking about how he’s not into drugs due to health…. While having an arm that looks like a pin cushion.
Amazing interview. Best I’ve seen.
Wow. Thank you! 💀
"The cul-de-sac of success". I like that.
"Did you have a nice flight?" "Yeah, it was alright. There was a lot of diversion on board."
CSNY in the background 1:05-6
this footage looks like its from the 1800's
I've never seen Jerry move that fast.
Cool. Human hybrids with Bigfoot playing.
Never seen this interview, and really enjoy whenever he really speaks personally like this. I know the drug scene to most, turns people off to The Grateful Dead, but if they would just listen to the music they would understand the enthusiasm that the fans are drawn too. Will always love the sounds that Jerry has created, and will continue to listen till I leave this reality.
At 20:38 while the band members and crew, are being explained about 'English drug money", someone (it sounds like Mickey Hart) says: "10 schillings is something like 14 banana peels"... 😂🤣
Back when Jerry cared about the band being out of tune lol
Imagine if the songs with Dead and Allmon Brothers had been videotaped?
If more existed, it’d of been shared and monetized by now.
love it, first time seeing. I’m of the opinion that Stranger was generally better with Brent. Love the RFK 90 version. Other tunes though, better w/ Bruce and Co, for example Jack Straw. This European tour is highly underrated. The mix of this tour is really good.
wow, Pig morphed into a brown bearded hippy dude. Not the music that was happening in the vid
they’re not in the park. Great sound
