I started using the Dexcom G6 with my new tandem pump a year ago and since it’s only every three months that we change the transmitter, I always watch the videos to make sure I don’t screw something up. I’ve watched many videos and yours is the absolute clearest with step-by-step instructions to help me remember how to pair the devices and manage the settings. So thank you!

Yes so true, it's my first time changing my Dexcom G7 with the Tandem t:slimx2. I've had my pump and Sensor for 10 days. I appreciate your video, very clear. I'm glad you included the app because my first time using the Dexcom I had an issue and had to call the company, so my trainer bypassed the app when I inserted the Sensor, so on my Dexcom app I kept having an alert to insert new sensor, but now as I changed my Dexcom sensor for the first time I was able to get the app up and running. Thank you! 🎉🙏🌻🙂

This is a life truth that seemed to get lost after Gen X. Feeling lost and alone, or confused and insecure is normal all the way up into your 30s. Do some people overcome this early? Yes but is is not the norm. This is why so many people today are going to therapy, living off prescription medications and angry that others will not accept their delusions as reality. When I finally accepted who I was (including my shortfalls and imperfections), I became so much happier. My confidence became real and I was finally able to improve myself in a way that created long tem happiness. I was no longer comparing myself to others but rather competing with who I was yesterday. Its great to free of the dread of other peoples opinions.

1️⃣ Have 12-20g of carbs (plus some fat or protein if possible for stable sugars - #balancebaby) 2️⃣ Wait ~15-20 minutes - Check your blood sugar! 3️⃣ Repeat if needed! Sometimes just a few more carbs for round 2/3/4 is all it takes! **Remember the rule of 15?** Eat 15 carbs, wait 15 minutes, recheck, repeat? That doesn’t always work for everyone, so that’s why I’ve provided a range! Tips‼️ ✨Waiting helps to avoid over-correction. ✨Adjust as needed to keep your levels steady! ✨If you KNOW you’re going to need round 2/3/4 (with 100000% certainty) for that low correction, that might mean you need more carbs up front ✨ trend matters! If you’re dropping especially quick, you might want to prioritize a fast acting carb like glucose tabs, skittles, juice, etc (link 🔗 in my bio for some of the products I use) Follow along for more like this, and remember: you’ve got this! 💙 ‼️DISCLAIMER: although I am a healthcare professional, this post is not intended to be medical advice. This is simply me sharing some of what I know, but your body may not respond in this way so please make sure you are chatting with your diabetes educator and/or doctor first ‼️ #Type1Diabetes #DiabetesManagement #DiabetesSupport #cgm #insulindependent #insulinpump #T1Dawareness #bloodsugarmanagement

Cold plunging can have different effects on blood sugar depending on the individual. ✨Blood sugar spike alert! For some, the shock of the cold can trigger a sudden spike in blood sugar levels as the body releases stress hormones like adrenaline or cortisol. ✨Unexpected blood sugar drop! Conversely, others may experience a sharp drop in blood sugar as the body burns more glucose to generate heat and maintain core temperature. ‼️Your results may vary‼️ Everyone's response to cold exposure is different, making it so important to identify your personal trends through careful monitoring. By understanding how your body reacts, you can take the right actions (such as adjusting insulin, correcting blood sugar, or having a proactive snack) to maintain balance and avoid any unwelcome surprises. Be aware of your body's signals and respond accordingly for a safer, more enjoyable cold plunging experience. ✨ Watch that CGM or manually check before AND after AND follow for more!

Here’s a glimpse of what my brain thinks as a registered dietitian working in type 1 diabetes education living WITH type 1 diabetes: ✨ Pre-Workout ✨ ✅Am I in a safe range to start exercising? ✅ will I be doing an l aerobic or anaerobic workout? ✅how much insulin do I have on board? ✅what’s my hydration level? ✅should I have a snack? ✅should I have or skip caffeine/preworkout? ✅is it the morning afternoon or evening? ✅how will my blood sugar likely respond to this workout? ✅do I turn my insulin off now or closer to? ✨During ✨ ✅what’s my blood sugar ✅am I low or just tired ✅should I drink some electrolytes - and if the packet has carbs should I take insulin? ✅ if I’m dropping, should I have a snack yet or wait? ✅ if I’m spiking, should I take insulin or wait? ✅am I starting hydrated or dehydrated? ✅am I working out for a reason (a get-some-emotions-out workout can be very different compared to a Sunday-funday workout) ✨ Post-Workout ✨ ✅am I spiking or dropping still ✅ how much insulin should I take for a post-workout meal/snack/shake/etc ✅should I do less walking today because I worked out and want to balance blood sugar? ✅are the snacks I had during a low when working out catching up to me? ✅is my digestion altered? ✅am I super insulin sensitive now? ✨The Bigger Picture✨ Each workout is an experiment in understanding how yoir own body reacts to different forms of exercise, food intake, and insulin adjustments. This involves a bit of trial and error. I always say…‼️👀 “If it works out, great we can repeat!” Or “If it doesn’t work out, not great, but great because now we can adjust one way or another!” We juggle these factors while staying motivated and committed to our fitness goals - it’s a lot to ask. Remember, your resilience and strength deserves more credit than EVER. 💙💪

👯‍♀️Send this post to your T1D bestie AND T1D support humans 🥰 🥳 Here we go: 1️⃣Essential Hormone ✨Insulin is a hormone produced in the pancreas. In type 1 diabetes (T1D), the body's immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys the beta cells in the pancreas that make insulin. 2️⃣ Exogenous insulin ✨People with T1D require external insulin therapy to survive. This usually involves injecting insulin multiple times a day or using an insulin pump. 3️⃣Types of Insulin ✨Insulin has varying onset, peak, and duration. There is rapid-acting insulin (e.g., lispro, aspart), short-acting insulin (regular insulin), intermediate-acting insulin (NPH), & long-acting insulin (e.g., glargine, detemir). 4️⃣ Insulin Sensitivity People with T1D have varying insulin sensitivity, & factors such as physical activity, stress, illness, & hormonal changes can affect that. 5️⃣Insulin Pumps ✨Pumps deliver insulin throughout the day, mimicking the function of a healthy pancreas more than multiple daily injections (MDI). 6️⃣Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) ✨CGMs provide real-time info on blood sugar, allowing for better management of blood sugar fluctuations. 7️⃣ Insulin Storage ✨Insulin should be refrigerated until opened then can be stored at room temp for a certain period. 8️⃣Low blood sugar risk ✨People with T1D must monitor closely to prevent and treat hypoglycemia, or low blood sugar, which can be life-threatening if not taken care of. 9️⃣ Lifelong treatment ✨ T1D is a chronic condition that requires lifelong insulin therapy. 🔟 Needing insulin isn’t your fault ✨I hear this SO often, know that if you need an extra unit for your meal, that’s okay. It’s not a failure on your part. Comment if you learned something new 💙

The 2 last tips are my favorites 👀🤫 Okay, so we’ve all been there, right⁉️ By that, I mean the “how the heck do I bolus for this” situation 😅 Don’t worry, I’ve got your back. If you find yourself in this situation, here’s what I would do: ✨ Embrace the fact that you’re estimating - so it might not work out perfectly. ✨Use context clues (yes I’m that person that watches other people’s food come out, and I’ll ask the server about it too sometimes!) ✨Ask questions - the more info you have, the better you can estimate! ✨Consider the type of insulin you use and your eating pace (savor the flavor kinda gal? Maybe you’d want to split bolus - you know what I mean?!). ✨fat….. I’ll leave this one here for now (do you already know what I’m talking about?!) ✨SUSHI RICE - if you’re here for the sushi specifically, and you’ve got T1D, this one’s for you. Sushi rice is short grain so a cup of sushi grade rice might actually be closer to 60 carbs as opposed to our typical 45 carb estimate. ✨practice estimation at home, so that you feel more confident when you’re out and about (I know my fist is about a cup in size, a traditional deck of cards fits in my palm nicely and happens to be similar in size to 3 ounces of protein, and the tip of my thumb is exactly 1inch, and that has come in handy, ha, handy get it?!) When you actively practice these strategies, they get you several steps closer to decent blood sugar and accurate bolusing! 🥰 Ive got a TH-cam video coming out soon that has some more info on what I use to help myself figure things out in these situations 👀 keep an eye out! Want to see more hacks like this ⁉️ Follow me @type.one.type.fun 💙 ‼️DISCLAIMER: although I am a healthcare professional, this post is not intended to be medical advice.
