Felt this. I'm not per say a first responder myself, I'm an explorer for my sheriff's office, but our department has a very lenient policy for what explorers can do and so we respond to everything the deputies get called to. Murders, fatal accidents, death investigations/coroner calls, etc so I've seen my own share of pretty messed up stuff. I've been able to desensitize myself from it but it's weird coming home and eating breakfast (I usually do ridealongs on nights) with my family and trying to act like a normal 17 year old when my boots have dried blood on them and just got off a call seeing a mutilated body.
