@@FaithSwagger-fb6bf Yes! What is your favorite breed?
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😢😢😢😢😮😮😮😅😅😅😅
@ammachado88 Right! I do not remember ever hearing a broiler crow before. 🙂 Have you?
Have you ever had feather mites in your chickens?
What is your favorite fair food?
Do you have an area that your chickens like to dust bathe in?
Yum
Right! That’s the best part about raising your own market animals. You can ensure they have a great happy life, and then they feed your family. ❤️
What are some fun things your chickens and turkeys do?
I like baseball.
That’s fun! Did you see Bristol Motor Speedway is hosting a baseball game?
What is your favorite sport?
Do you prefer buying hatching eggs or getting day old chicks?
1:35 the stress of tearing the feathers out can make the feathers white. That means genetical they are not good. This is extremly visible with my Cayuga ducks. But the same stress system for becoming white can be applied to all birds
@@MabusTiefsee I know nothing about breeding Cayuga ducks, but with white crested black Polish chickens that is not true. To assume that, would mean that every time you plucked a feather, white or black, it would come back in white every time as it is the same amount of stress if done the same way each time. When in fact you can pluck a white feather and have just as much of a chance of it coming back in black in their head crest. It is more so because chickens have alleles that can be codominant.

Have you ever tried the egg float test before?
Cake 🎂
Cake is good! 😀 Thanks for watching!
What is your favorite food that has eggs as an ingredient?
what is the breed called?
Technically it is not a breed, but a hybrid cross of 2 different breeds. They are broiler chickens or you can also look them up online as Cornish cross chickens. 😀
@@jordansbackyardchickens thanks!
@@xajatho Your welcome!
Is that even normal?
@@JohnPong-ly2zg Yes it is. They are a hybrid cross that are very efficient. If you have ever eaten chicken from a store or a restaurant they are probably broiler chickens.
@jordansbackyardchickens hmm, I've tried it before, I realized I have a taste for silkies, pheasants, grouse type of poultry. That one for some reason tends to be a bit different for some reason
@@JohnPong-ly2zg I love pheasants! You should try raising some guineas for meat. Process them at around 14-16 weeks and you will have a great tasting bird like pheasant.
Broiler Chickens? We’re naming them after the way they’re cooked
@@nobodycareswhatithink Yep! That’s the name used around here that they are widely known as for that reason. 😀 Some people and hatchery’s call them what they are, Cornish cross, a hatchery around us uses a couple different strains depending on the year and around fair time you want to buy their Super Roasters. Do you call them something else?
@@jordansbackyardchickens I call them chickens. Are there deep fried breeds? Oven baked? Grilled?
😂😂 Nope there are different breeds of chickens, but to my knowledge broiler chickens is the only hybrid cross named after a way they used to be and sometimes are still cooked. Some hatcheries like I was talking about have super roasters ( a faster growing strain of Cornish cross/broiler chickens) and others have “frypan assortments” or “frypan bargains” as Meyer Hatchery calls them, which are different dual purpose breeds of males that people like since they don’t get so big, free range a little better in their yard, and are easier to cook up. They just take longer to raise and don’t yield as well.
We’ve grown some that when they were dressed they were 10 pounds almost
@@joshfishing3401 Those were monsters. lol Do you remember how old they were when you processed them?
You sure have some darned nice chickens there. Love those Cochins!!!
I really appreciate it! Thanks. 😀
What is your chickens’ favorite thing to listen to?
hi
Hi! Thanks for watching my video! 😀
Are you planning to show chickens this year?
Good job man

How often do you clean your poultry drinker/waterers?
Scrub-a-dub-dub!!! Great video!
Yep! 😀 Thanks for watching.
Chickens wash theresits called a dust bath the dust cleans off all the bad oils of feathers
Yes they do! In this case however I am running a video series helping people get their broiler chickens and show chickens ready for the fair and so washing them like this is part of the process. 😃
Imagine what the dinosaur ancestors of chickens think about this chicken
Right! lol Sometimes I wonder how we went from that to jungle fowl and guineas to something like a silkie or my Polish. lol
Do your chickens have talons?
I would imagine if you let a broiler chicken grow long enough that they may grow the spur, but they are in and out in 6-7 weeks so it’s not long enough for it to grow.
You don't really need to wash them unless they have mites or are show chickens
Dust bath😅
Yes if you are not going to show your chickens, but this video is one in a series that I am doing to help people raise chickens for the fair. 😃 Thanks for watching!
Yep! Works great to remove the mites! This is part of a series to help people raise chickens for their fair though so in this case they do need to bathe their chickens! 😁 Thanks for watching!

Are you planning to show chickens this year?
@@jordansbackyardchickens I want some chickens, do you sell them and ship ?
Hi! I currently do not, but if you search for chicken hatcheries there are several great ones spread throughout the United States that we have bought from before. 😃 Thanks for watching!
You need to change that bedding whole lot more often dude that’s disgusting
Thanks for watching!
I agree poor chickens that is horrendous
Yo im used to cleaning them out weekly or bi weekly. I was fouled.
Thanks for watching my video! This was from when I just finished up raising my broiler chickens so I was deep bedding them. They were in here for 3 weeks and I kept adding bedding every 2nd day to give them a decently clean and comfortable coop. Do you use Diatomaceous Earth when you are cleaning your coop?
Make a moveable coop. Roll it to a new spot on the grass every day or two. They control the bugs, get a high protein diet for free and there is no coop to clean.
That’s one way to keep from having the issue! 😃 Thanks for watching.
Get rid of that and start new!
Definitely! 😃 I stripped it completely down and then put some diatomaceous earth down before I put the chickens and turkeys back in.
@@jordansbackyardchickens You ROCK and thank you for bringing this to people's attention ❤❤🐓
@ttooee2635 You are welcome! Since I was cleaning the coop out from the broiler chickens I thought it would be a great time to do this video and really show how wet the bedding can be when it is hard packed and dry on top. I have a long form video on it that will be coming out in a couple weeks. Thanks for watching!
@@jordansbackyardchickens looking forward to it. Cheers!
@@ttooee2635 Thanks!
That 'bedding' looked like dog poop 🤢 🤮
Pretty close! 😉 It’s poop from broiler chickens with new bedding that I added every 2 days to keep them clean. Thanks for watching!
