Very sad to learn that Julie is no longer with us. The Julie Byrne Country Band recorded for my label in the 70's & early 80's a great bunch of very talented musicians. R,I.P. Colin Richardson Artistry Recordings.
Micky Byrne passed away in a care home in Basildon, (Essex) where he'd been living for some time since his wife Julie died. Micky, after having a heart transplant in the 1990's making him one of the longest survivors in this country around 20 years ago, had previously also survived having brain surgery that successfully removed a brain tumour. Micky's health steadily deteriorated after being diagnosed with having another benign and inoperable brain tumour which caused him to have seizures and he also had Parkinson's Syndrome and Alzheimers Disease. I last spoke to Micky in March 2021 a few weeks after Julie had passed. I remember that Julie used to tell my how she and Micky were regular extras in The Bill, Coronation Street and East Enders. Julie usually played a prostitute. Micky got a speaking part once and his name appeared in the credits.
@@nickcatford442 Thanks for the update about Micky. Micky also did some session work for me with Ray Dexter another great British Country Singer. It's just a fact of life that they are no longer with us as we are all ageing rapidly. I still have the master tapes on the shelf along with the Tony Griffen ,Patsy Powell,Terry Edwards ,Jan Holly Jon Derek and a host of others . Not forgetting Tex Withers those were the days of music mostly forgotten now. It makes me feel very old now. Thanks for letting me know about Micky. He was a great musician..
