a mere 35 years ago, but a different world. More innocent, more friendly, move loving.
6:06 - 1050B with the bucket counterweight.
I bet those kids still remember this!
To jsem měl dva roky po voně 🙂
How much diesel these suckers burn per day?
No diesel, these behemoths are electric powered
Half empty buckets on the drag line, not good
All these coal mines that still can produce, will be up and running within a short period of time. The great environmental push, has come to a pause, with the new Great War that is unfolding!
Was this the same Green coal co that mined in southern indiana??
Yes we mined in cannelburg outside logotte
I remember back when I was a kid I went to work with my dad.he could run anything the coal mines had.he mainly loved the draglines.he was one hell of a operator and that's what people even said bout him.i spent alot of time on the dragline and the shovel loading coal with him.his dad was a dragline and shovel operator.i sure miss those days I miss my dad.love ya dad you are so missed.
my dad did the same. good times
Wow that’s amazing. I use to ride atv’s and dirt bikes out there all the time in the early 2000’s. It was dirty but a fun place to ride at. Lots of party’s and mud bogging out there too. It’s a shame they did reclamation on it several years ago. It’s no longer a strip mined piece of land.
Great footage! I was 28 when this was shot...:)
My uncle John Crider ran one in Mullenburg Co. KY. till he retired. If you were on the WKY parkway West bound crossing the Green River. His was the second one from the Parkway if your looking left. Sadly it's all gone I heard the TVA shuttered the Paradise power plant. Yep the Paradise from the John Prine song.
Did he operate the one that was named little Egypt? I use to deer hunt in Maddison and Hopkins county ky. I I could see it from the the farmer that allowed me to hunt. His name was Joe Shoulder and he was a great friend.
@@winfieldholbrook5167 not sure of the name but when you crossed the green river heading west on the WK it was the one furthest from the highway.
Might be low resolution but sure beats the modern HD vids with that awfull edm/dubstep backing music found on vidoe footage today.lol
Are you okay?
Man this is great footage…. I’m from eastern Ky and coal minin in my whole family….that’s one of the rare and unique strippin shovels you got there…mining photography has some good films like this too..wish someone would find vids of the captain shovel in action…thanks alot
Good times when there weren't so many safety rules and less accidents. Even children would come in the cab, accompanied by adults of course

There was way more accidents and deaths back then, you just didn’t hear about them 🤦🤦🤦
what was the model #s of these machines and their common name?
The shovels in the pit are a 1650b and a 1050b. As far as the draglines that are rehandling the spoil are concerned I’m not sure of the model numbers but the one named Doc is a Page. Green coal had three 1650b shovels I believe and all were purchased used. One was the first 1650b built and named Marshal Dillon. Green Coal liked to name their machines after characters in the TV series Gunsmoke.
@@Rtruth7338 thanks for the info
Based on the walking mechanism, boom, single hoist and drag rope, extended fairlead for sure the dragline is a BE 480 W
