      I plan on doing that. I unfortunately have not gotten to that just yet. Its hard because my days off I am looking for my next group of fish to have for the next set of trips I have booked. So, I don't have that much time to sit down and edit the videos. If you notice, there are no cuts in my videos, lol. But I did just order a new computer just for that reason. I pic it up the same time I am getting my truck repaired. So, hopefully, I can get to that soon. Thank you for the feedback.

    I really like braid, but Im sure fluoro gets more bites, so I usually tie a 2 ft fluoro leader...never thought about braid rubbing against grass before the lure shows up. I guess a leader wouldnt prevent that

    • @hydrillagorillaguideservic9886
      @hydrillagorillaguideservic9886 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Correct. If you were in 6 ft and working the bait thru eel grass flat, I think it is fine. But up in 4 feet or less and thick clumps, it makes a difference.

    @ranbrown15 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Hello sir I love your channel and I love the what's on the deck episodes that you do. I have a question for you regarding the braid issue... what if you do a lighter line braid (#15) to a 6 foot (#'10) floro leader? Would that satisfy the fishes need for the bait to be somewhat more stealth!? Thanks so much!

    • @hydrillagorillaguideservic9886
      @hydrillagorillaguideservic9886 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The line size isn't the issue. When fishing in 2 to 3 feet of water, the brade is going thru the grass clumps before the bait get there. I believe it is the noise of the brade pulling thru the grass before a bait gets there, that seems to spook the fish. I don't think it is them seeing it. They are feeling it thru the grass stalks that they are up against and putting them on high alert to the presence of danger. So running a leader might help in deeper water, but in 2 to 3 feet, the line I believe is still going to go thru the clump before the leader. I might try it, though, to see. Thanks for the thoughts on that, I will try it.

    Do you ever take a black marker to your braid? Just curious if that actually helps, I’ve been doing that since braid came out in the early 90’s, secondly what size floro are you using on the traps?

      @hydrillagorillaguideservic9886 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

    • @hydrillagorillaguideservic9886
      @hydrillagorillaguideservic9886 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It is tighter rhen the TN 70, but the xcalibur is tighter than the bill lewis. That's why I throw the xcalibur in winter ao much. So I covered both sides of that by switching to the two different brands. I truly believe the brade coming thru the grass before the bait gets to the fish alerts the dish to coming danger, and they spook. I will keep testing it and confirm one way or another what it is. Thanks for the comments, I will be posting my findings in up coming videos.

    Hi Jesse. I am new to your channel, but the episodes I have watched have been absolutely phenomenal. I especially like how you broke down optimizing the use of each bait to increase the potential for catching more fish. I do have two quick questions. The first is, would lighter braid make any difference when fishing lures like the lipless or swim jigs, etc? or does the sound transmit into the water all the same with braid. And the second is this. The boat that I use only has 2D sonar. Currently the others are a little more $$$$. I have a Garmin 9SV. For clients that book with you, do you also throw in tips on how to see and/or recognize fish, etc.? Thank you.

    • @hydrillagorillaguideservic9886
      @hydrillagorillaguideservic9886 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I truly believe that, no matter the size, it will ultimately have the same effect. I am intentionally running my bait low to the grass and my line is hitting the clumps before the lure, I truly believe they are hearing it, and it is alerting them to danger before my lure gets there, and by then they are not going to give a reaction strike. Instead, I think they run away spooked! As to the 2D sonar. Yes, I try to teach during all of my guide trips. Any questions asked, I will answer for my clients. That is their time! As such, I do all I can to assist in helping them become better anglers. You can absolutely use 2d sonar but it is better out in deeper water situations, like 20+. I have been shallower and there the shad are right under the trolling motor and to look thru the bait to see the bass, it wiuld spook the shad if you get right over them without a few feet of water between the motor and the shad.

    Hi Jesse! Just found your channel and enjoyed the vid. I’m over here on Lanier, and your bait selections are spot on for Lanier too. As expected that ditch bite is so strong in winter. You were giving out some juice for sure! I’m sure when slowing down I assume throwing finesse jig, ned, neko, or shakyhead. Then again, if you can catch on moving baits, you ben better. 😂 God bless and Merry Christmas!
