there wasn't ever a coherent postmodernist movement in music, just certain attitudes. for sure was in film, literature & trad visual arts (e.g. painting & certain mixed medium stuff) tho, so you COULD make an argument that some of that made its way to this, somehow for my money id just call it "experimental indigenous american club music" (indigenous Aymara mebbe? that's what Chuquimamani-Condori generally identifies as according to wikipedia)

im so mad i didnt find elysia until earlier this year because their use of 2010s pop hits. as a kid in the 2000s i always hear songs used in elysias mashups but always ignored/pushed them off because i thought popular music was annoying, but hearing them recontextualized in this way and really listening to the lyrics as an adult is crazy. not to mention their original works are phenomenal too

I first bought Harakiri in 2015 when I was in college. It is one of my favorite albums of all-time. From the cover art to the last track, it is a masterpiece of sound and fury. Only someone with demons could make an album that ferocious-and only someone with demons could enjoy it. It's only for solo listening. It's such a one-of-a-kind album that critics had a hard time categorizing it. It's in a league of its own. I wish we had more of him. I wish he had shared more of his work and personality with us. I wish he did interviews, or a day-in-the-life video. There is literally only one photo of him on the Internet, and he looks like a child. I wish he connected more with his fans. He had virtually no haters, and his work commanded attention and respect. I obsessed over his work the same way I obsessed over Aphex, and couldn't believe that he was able to articulate music from what would otherwise be a pummeling thrash of synths, kicks, and tape hiss. This music is not for everyone, but for those who do enjoy it, it's quite a raw experience. He is a fascinating artist, and I was hoping the last 10 years for some new work from him. But nothing. It could have been him just ripping wet farts in a mic with some fuzzy synth and kicks. I would have listened. He was incredible. I am devastated by this news. Looks like I'll have to make this album and his very limited discography last forever. I hope he was in a good state of mind when he passed away. Thank you, SD Laika. I love your music, man. You have so many fans and supporters who respect you. Rest in Peace.
