Although I am a Dodgers fan, Lincecum will always be my favorite pitcher and is the reason I started playing and watching Baseball. It was a blessing that I was able to watch him play live :D
Loved watching him. Supernova! Not one to be talking mechanics though. Quite unorthodox and a freak of nature at that. Would not have the young ones use him as a model for solid mechanics on the bump.
Imagine how good the world would be if everyone put everything they had into their craft. Thank you for the show, Tim.

So im a tennis coach and for years ive been using the same anology of your body is handle/driving force behind the ball and the arm is the loose relaxed whip. I feel so validated right now. imma show this to all my kids. maybe they will listen. 🤣

How he fell off is kinda crazy.. As soon as he lost his FB velo, he wasnt the same.. Ironically, he lost the FB velo because he changed his diet, which made him lose 15-20lbs (!!!!).. Dude was already skinny, but not having that extra weight to generate velo really hurt him..
Recently found out that his diet change after 2010 caused him to lose about 15-20lbs, which in turn impacted his FB velo, which we all remember was his downfall. Once he couldnt throw 94+, his lethal changeup wasnt as effective since it was thrown at a relatively high velo itself.. he shouldve kept eating In n Out lol
2011 is when he started the in n out diet. So this is incorrect. Ultimately his hip issues are what led to the decrease in velocity.
@@23hunter152 he stopped the in n out diet in 2011 (believe you got it backwards).. and yes his hips are what gave out, but him losing the velo on his FB after dropping weight (stopped eating in n out) is what caused him to start rotating his hips sooner (trying to use torque instead of weight to generate velo), thus leading to his hip issues and subsequent decline.. Ironically, he threw two no-no's after this lol
@@dre32pitt negative. He started it in 2011. He put on more weight that season however cut back and lost the weight. I recall him looking bulkier to start that season which is when the articles came out regarding his new diet.
@@23hunter152 he'd always eaten 'junk' food and just worried about it later.. it's when he cut that all out and dropped about 30lbs (2012), from his peak weight, is when he ran into the aforementioned velo dip and then hip issues (compensating for the velo dip).. he had just kicked up his in n out intake to almost michael Phelps levels and it got a bunch of press, lol.

Even up to 2014, when he was burning out, he still kept his career relevant by throwing 2 no-hitters within a year. But Game 1 NLDS was my favorite performance of him.
Why did his career end?
Aged very quickly.
I was there 2010 NLDS game 1, just the absolute masterclass of pitching domination. 14 K CGS like it was nothing to him. He didn't age quickly, Bochy burned his arm tf out by letting him go >110 pitch count almost every single game. In his prime he had all the vets trying to stop mid swing at SCUDS five feet in front of the plate. Just that circle changeup or his 12-6 curve, after setting the batter's timing with his 4 seam, always left the batter so far off the mark. Those were just the best pitch sequences I've ever seen.
When Tim Lincecum was on, he was pretty much un-hittable.., I shared Giants season tickets during his entire career with the Giants.., always a thrill when Tim was on the mound... 2008 - 2010.. 49 W's - 22 L's... 757 K's.. lead the league in K's all three seasons... "The Freak!"

The injury Sucks, but those 5 years from 2008-2012 were possibly the most dominant and successful 5 years of any pitcher. For a short while, he looked like the greatest of all time. Giants fans have nothing but respect for The Freak. Truly one of the most loved giants player of all time.

Mine too! He started the Giants winning ways. He's the main piece in my opinion. Best of all he was a Dodger killer. Don't get me wrong, they had Pablo, Buster, Cain, MadBum, etc. They should've beaten the Cardinals in the playoffs to play the Braves in the WS and they should've beaten the Angels w/Barry. They had some great players but couldn't win the BIG 1. I couldn't believe the Giants finally WON ONE in 2010, and to win 2 more. UNBELIEVABLE! I started liking the San Francisco Giants since 1970. When Charlie Fox was the manager. Before Tim, Bobby Bonds was my favorite San Francisco Giant.

Not the best explainer of his learned mechanics, but his dads method had a great result behind it. Sucks he wasnt super healthy long term. Id like to see those mechanics in a few more samples. See if it was unfortunate or dangerously good.

This was made in 2007. In 2008 he won his first Cy Young. In 2009, he did it again. In 2010 the Giants won the WS and this man should've been named MVP. Oh and that not so good change up made batters look like fools. People say this video was prophetic. My ass. Anyone can say that about any player and eventually be right. But after this video was made, he headed in the opposite direction and became a Giants and MLB Legend.
