Thanks for this video, I saw both models on ebay and was not sure about what their differences were, even after going to tc-helicon's page. Do you know if you can use a bass instead of a guitar with the g-xt?

Thanks so much for doing this. I bought the Harmony G and about 2 months later, they came out with the XT. Ugh!! The fact that this one allows you to connect with USB to get new firmware updates is worth it. One question-I notice the Harmony G would sometimes take a second to react to the guitar chord change. So you'd be singing and playing, and then the harmony would track. So you're harmony would kind of jump or bend. Is the harmony-reaction any quicker with the XT?

Where did you find an XT model?!?!? I have been scouring the web and NOBODY has them yet.

The original Harmony-G is a really good piece of gear, but it has its issues! The main issue that I really had with it was the lack of a noise gate for the mic! This allowed the occasional bleed through of acoustic guitar into the mic, causing the guitar chords to sound altered by 3rds and 5ths!!! This can be worked around but pay close attention to your levels! The XT takes care of this with the built in gate! It also has USB for backing up and installing further upgrades to the pedal!

T.C. Helicon discontinued the original Harmony G which got some bad reviews. Musician's Friend is clearing them out now for $199.00. I just brought the old Harmony G and would like to know extras the Harmony G XT version has to offer.

I dont often comment on prices etc as I know a lot of people cannot afford what others can ... but to be honest ... the harmony G for its very low price delivers a lot . Even without using the harmonies it makes the voice sound richer and guitar effects as well...

yes its called a noise gate and they usually come coupled with a compressor! It basically doesnt allow any sound through unless the audio reaches a certain level! So when your not singing the mic would not pick up the guitar! You can pick one up on Ebay for @ $50-100! their are also some companys that make noise gate stompboxes! But for the same price you can get a comp. too! Alesis makes a decent one that is supposed to hve a good gate on it! I think its the "3630"!

I'm new to all this when you say gate do you mean some sort of filter i was thinking of putting sound proofing round the mic just leaving the front exposed ps forgot to say nice song by the way

yes, I wish it had a gate on the mic input! I think that would help a lot! I have plans to try this out down the road!

it changes the guitar sound you can hear the distortion through the mics input i have the same problem as soon as the harmony is put on and you have the input for the voice to high and if you dont have it high enough the harmony drops of to quick

Good song, great vocals....and good use of the harmony pedal. It would certainly be worth hearing this with additional backing instruments, because the song does stand up on it's own with just acc/elec, guitar & vocal Good job, well done. from Scotland.

no, it works with acoustic and electric guitars! It has a mix(guitar + mic) output and a Guitar thru so you can run an electric thru to your amp!
