I moved away 6 years ago because the people there are shady flaky scum . I was down on my luck and needed to find work to stay afloat. Everybody acts like they're your friend until you ask for a job. After I tried that, it was every man for themselves. That's fine, because in another town, someone who didn't know me at all, never had a clue who I was, gave me the opportunity to relocate. My life has been and will remain better than it was when I was living in Bakersfield because of one person and out of the 350,000 plus people in Bakersfield, not one came to help me get my life back on track. NOT ONE. that's what I think of that town. Shady, Flaky and full of scum. Camelot park is no more by the way and the surrounding neighborhood looks like demilitarized zone. Enjoy living in Bakersfield, it sucked.

As far as I've read/seen CALM has animals that can never be re-released into the world. Their injuries make it so they wouldn't survive on their own.

It is a beautiful house, but I just can’t understand why anyone who can afford that much for a home would want to live in Bakersfield.

I worked in Bakersfield for two years. It is the pits. Lots of inbred people, dangerous streets to walk, a ton of crime and cops that shot a knive wielding man in a wheel chair just for target practice. And no charges filed. The worst place I ever lived and that is even including Yuba City.

After seeing a lot of comments of people talking about racism and about how boring is the city, let me share my experience, I think Bakersfield is an affordable place to live, where you get the chance to save money like my case, I came as an immigrant on 2012, after I got my papers on 2016, i opened my first business with the money that I saved from past years of work and few years later, I bought two houses, had two car dealerships and invest on stock market, as far as Bakersfield been a boring city, it all the depends if you want to look it like that, because you have theaters, bowling, the mall, a lot of restaurants, nightclubs and gaming centers, but if that doesn’t get your attention you can be in 1h20m in LA, for a 27 years old like me, definitely you will have more fun in LA, as far as racism I have seeing a very little racist people, specially where I live (Rosedale), but I think you will find that type of people in any city where you go, specially if the mayority of the people in that place has an specific type of race. so for any person reading this comment I want to tell you that this city is good for a person who wants to save money and become successful, and it has much more to offer than what you think, depending on the type of goals that you have.
