    Why talk about gnostic and neoplatonic polytheistic aberrations in this context, when kabbalah is already tricky to navigate in an authentic manner in the first place?

    • @RabbiMordecaiFinley
      @RabbiMordecaiFinley 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As Gershom Scholem says, the Kabbalah is the intersection of Jewish neoplatonism and gnosticism. One can navigate the Kabbalah much better if one has grounding in Neoplatonism and ancient Gnosticism. These are not aberrations, they are foundations of the Kabbalah. There are several well known Jewish neo platonic texts (e.g. Ibn Gabirol Foundations of Life) and Gnostic texts (Enoch, for example).

Shame on you and your hypocrisy for preaching you have divine wisdom on one of your videos and showing that you most certainly do not on this video. All that "esoteric mysticism" and you're still deeply asleep. Sad,

    The place where Tillich grew up isn't exactly outside Berlin. When he was born, the place was called Starzeddel and belonged to the Guben district (Landkreis) of Brandenburg. Today, it is called Starosiedle and belongs to Poland. (after the war, a quarter of Germany's territory was given to Poland and their German inhabitants deported).

      @@RabbiMordecaiFinley No problem. BTW, the most accessible work by Tillich I found so far is his lecture "Symbols of Eternal life", found here on TH-cam. Also, hearing his real voice is great. It strikes me in a strange way, that the person speaking passed away several years before I was even born, and most people in the audience are also probably gone by now. Doesn't Kabbalah being influenced by neoplatism and gnosticism make it a foreign/ illegitimate form of Judaism?

    • @RabbiMordecaiFinley
      @RabbiMordecaiFinley ปีที่แล้ว

      Most aspects of all religions are influenced by others. In Judaism, for example, Moses Maimonides was admittedly very influenced by Aristotle and Plato, and contemporaneous Islamic philosophers. There is no criterion or governing body for claiming that something in Judaism is illegitimate. What people choose to study/believe in is usually a function of consensus among scholars and norms of the people.

    • @ntheg
      @ntheg ปีที่แล้ว

      The connection between Philistines and Palestinians is like the connection between grapefruit and grape (ie none). Philistines is derived from "invaders" (root פ.ל.ש), the hebrew name for the eternal enemy originating from modern cyprus - who resided mostly in the area now known as Gaza , all the way up to Ashkelon. They went extinct roughly 800 years before the Romans renamed this region "Syria-Phillestina" as an affront to Jews after the failed bar-kochva revolt. *on a phone, pardon typos

    • @RabbiMordecaiFinley
      @RabbiMordecaiFinley ปีที่แล้ว

      Palestine is the name given to the region by the Romans in the 100'c CE, to replace "Judea." Palestine is from the Hebrew word "P'leshet: The inhabitants were called "P'lishtim". scholars believe they came from islands in the Mediterranean Sea. They inhabited five cities in southwest Land of Israel: Gaza, Ashdod, Ashkelon and Gat. The wikipedia article is good: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philistines

    • @JimBStein
      @JimBStein ปีที่แล้ว

      “The first clear use of the term Palestine to refer to the entire area between Phoenicia and Egypt was in 5th century BCE ancient Greece, when Herodotus wrote of a "district of Syria, called Palaistinê" Therefore the name Palestine existed long before the 100th century CE and the Romans just re-used/re-introduced the term Palestine.

    Beautiful teaching Rabbi. I think the decision to live in love has to be a commitment that one makes with a whole and undivided heart. The best marriage advice I ever received was from an aunt who said "in marriage you must be prepared to give 75% and accept 25%. You can not go into marriage expecting only to give 50%." If you have that attitude it's remarkable how much more you will receive that you ever expect. God bless.

    Shalom Aleichem, So a few Christians have labeled me a Jew and a Pharisee; Because I keep Torah. As in Shabbat, Kosher, Feast Days, Wearing Tzitzit, Ect. Also I wanted to start following a few Jewish Traditions like, Netilat Yadayim, Yarmulke, Certain Brachas, Ect. But I wouldn't consider myself a Jew for a few reasons and neither do Jews because alot of them think I am an idolater and worship Jesus as G-d (I don't by the way). Even Christians get mad at me when I tell them Jesus is not G-d and to keep Torah. So what are your thoughts?

    • @RabbiMordecaiFinley
      @RabbiMordecaiFinley ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe that a Jew, in a religious sense, is someone who professes and practices Judaism - becomes part of the community and whose life is shaped around our texts and traditions. Most Rabbis requires that people formally become Jewish through certain rituals. I think becoming Jewish is a matter of the heart - it is between you and God. I think you ought not engage in conversation with people who are negative, insulting, untruthful or judgmental. If you want to practice Judaism, do so.

    In Kabbalah, the mystical tradition of Judaism, the focus is primarily on exploring the nature of the divine and the spiritual journey of the soul. While Jesus as a figure in Christianity is not directly addressed in traditional Kabbalistic texts, some Kabbalistic interpretations offer insights into the symbolic and metaphysical aspects associated with Jesus. One perspective that some Kabbalists hold is that Jesus represents a manifestation of divine consciousness or a channel through which divine energy is expressed. In this view, Jesus embodies a higher spiritual level or a vessel through which the divine presence enters the world. This concept aligns with the Kabbalistic belief in the various emanations of the divine known as the Sephirot. The Sephirot, represented by ten interconnected spheres on the Tree of Life, depict different aspects of the divine nature and the journey of the soul. Some Kabbalists see Jesus as embodying qualities associated with specific Sephirot. For example, his teachings of compassion, love, and mercy might be seen as resonating with the Sephirah of Chesed (kindness). His role as a teacher and guide may be linked to the Sephirah of Hokhmah (wisdom). Additionally, Jesus' crucifixion and subsequent resurrection can be seen as symbolic of spiritual transformation and the process of divine revelation. Kabbalah emphasizes the idea of personal sacrifice and the surrendering of one's ego to attain a deeper connection with the divine. In this context, Jesus' sacrifice on the cross can be viewed as an allegory for the journey of the soul, where one must undergo trials and challenges to achieve spiritual growth and redemption. Furthermore, Jesus' teachings on the Kingdom of Heaven and the fulfillment of divine prophecies align with Kabbalistic notions of the Messianic age and the ultimate redemption of humanity. Kabbalah envisions a future era in which divine consciousness will permeate the world, bringing about unity, harmony, and enlightenment. Jesus' role as a Messiah figure may be seen as representing this concept of spiritual redemption and the realization of a divine plan. It is important to note that these interpretations are not universally accepted within Kabbalistic traditions, and they may vary among different scholars and practitioners. Kabbalah remains primarily rooted in Jewish mystical teachings, and any connections drawn between Jesus and Kabbalah are speculative and subject to individual interpretation. To gain a more comprehensive understanding of the relationship between Jesus and Kabbalah, it is advisable to consult specific Kabbalistic texts and seek guidance from scholars or teachers who specialize in both Kabbalah and comparative religious studies. They can offer deeper insights and provide a broader context for exploring these connections.

    Semper Fidelis, Rabbi!! I discovered your channel about a month ago. To keep it short, I’ve been learning a tremendous amount from your teachings, but I’ve always had an intrusive thought whenever I hear your counseling… “Oh, it’s easy for Rabbi to be so calm and to say these things. He wouldn’t understand the gang violence I was subjected to, he wouldn’t understand what I went through in the Corps.” After hearing your story, wow. I can’t believe how incorrect I was in my judgments. And I sincerely apologize. You’re so developed and in control of your spirit, that I never assumed you could have had a similar upbringing. I disavow any excuses I’ve ever made for my “uncontrollable anger”. It’s wrong and I will immediately correct course and drop the excuses.
