I live in Colorado Springs and cannot find a theologically sound church that does NOT play this music from heretical false churches! And this is basically a Meca of bible churches. Leaving my current church over this and don’t know where to go
We really feel for you @rosiereds4996 God is always good to His sheep. Pray for His leading. We looked around for you. Have you tried these? g3min.org/g3-church-network/map/?wpsl-search-input=colorado+springs&wpsl-radius=50&wpsl-results=25
1) Biblical chattel slavery was not race-based but ethnic-based 2) It was a as highly regulated protection of chattel slaves as in the antebellum south. 3) Biblical chattel slavery was not freely chosen. Read Num 31 and Deut 20. Even indentured servitude was not freely chosen Read Jer 34 and 2 Kings 4,1 4) in most cases is was not mutual beneficial but single-sided exploitation. 5) Chattel salves were treated as property. Their value was comparable to lifestock rather than a free person.
The text we're dealing with here is Exodus 20-22. This was indentured servitude within Israel. We will certainly cover the other issue surrounding foreign slavery when we get there in the Bible. But be sure of this - Slaves could not be taken by kidnapping (Ex. 21) and while they were treated harsher than Israelite servants there were many reasons foreigners would become servants or slaves --- and they were to be loved and treated well, with Israel remembering what it was like to be slaves themselves in Egypt. We don't sugarcoat or avoid difficult texts but wrestle with them in the totality of Scripture. God clearly does not want people treated like property nor abused. Even the "harshest" Israelite legislation cannot compare to the cruel treatment in the ancient world for slaves nor the American South. We encourage you to read www.reasonablefaith.org/question-answer/P650/servitude-in-ancient-israel-pt-i
@@GraceRiverNH "Even the "harshest" Israelite legislation cannot compare to the cruel treatment in the ancient world for slaves nor the American South. " This is the fallacy many apologists commit: the fallacy of false equivalence. They compare the Mosaic Law with the actual tretment of slaves in other nations. That is fundamentally false and misleading. They draw a false picture based on this. You have to compare law by law different law collection dealing with slavery. You really can't compare the treatment in ancient Israel with the treatmant in the antebellum, South or ancient Near East since we do not have a sufficient amount of report from ancient times to get a complete picture. Therefore a comparison of the different law collection is the only solid basis for an aanalysis how similar or different (chattel) slavery was in different societies. Concerning your link. Paul Copan is one of the worst sources when it comes to the topic of slavery. He misunderstands passages and gives in general a wrong impression of the topic. I would higly recommend to change your source. I would suggest: "Did the Old Testament Endorse Slavery?" from Joshua Bowen. Make sure you get the 2nd edition. The bibliography and law collctions listed there give a great starting point for further invertigations of the topic of slavery.
Slavery apologetics. Disgusting.

"It wasn't degrading. It was mutually beneficial." Lies. Exodus 21 states that slave owners can beat their Hebrew indentured servants nearly to death, and Leviticus 25 states that they can abuse their non-Hebrew chattel slaves even more harshly. If you have to lie to defend your beliefs, it is time to get new beliefs.
Your comments are always welcome!
Lies? You know Exodus 21 doesn't say that slave owners can beat their servants to death. Even if a tooth was broken they had to let them go completely free -- free from debt and service: 26 “If a man hits the eye of his male or female servant and destroys it, he will let the person go free because of the eye. 27 If he knocks out a tooth of his man or woman servant, he will let the person go free because of the tooth. Verse 20 is not referring most likely to abuse (for Israel was reminded to treat even servants as brothers) but punishment or defense -- it had to be limited.
@ So, you can owned children, women and men as property (ie Chattel Slavery) if you don’t beat them? Your moral compass is broken by the defense of your imaginary deity for fear of going to a fake hell. Your unholy book not only enslaved human beings, but command you to follow these inhuman laws and rules.
Bullshit ! Anyone who beats their male or female slave with a rod must be punished if the slave dies as a direct result, 21 but they are not to be punished if the slave recovers after a day or two, since the slave is their property. Can slaves be beaten? Yes Can the be beaten almost to the point of death ? Yes If the slave recovers in a few days is the slaves master punished ? No Please stop lying ok ?
Lies. Under Mosaic law, foreign slaves were chattel slaves. Their enslavement was based upon their ethnic heritage. Their were no regulations on the treatment of chattel slaves. They could be bought, sold, separated from their families, beaten, raped, killed, kept for life, and passed down as inherited property. Every specific reference to foreign slaves in the Bible is to deny them rights and protections afforded to Hebrew slaves. The treatment of foreign slaves was every bit as bad, or worse, than slavery in the Antebellum south. If you have to lie to defend your beliefs, it is time to get new beliefs.
not UNDER mosaic law...other non-believers who perverted it and used it for their corrupt wants. they abused and perverted what MOSAIC LAW is SUPPOSED to be.. if you have to lie to defend your beliefs, it is time to get new beliefs

Worship must be taken from the book of Psalms in the bible.
The Psalms are a good start, but even in a stricter Regulatory Principle we have no biblical basis for saying a church must "only" sing the Psalms. Thanks for the comment and support.
You are so wrong. God knows the beginning to the end. It was written for then AND it was written for now. We don't require YOUR interpretation. The scriptures speak for themselves and are VERY clear. It is pastors like you who give other belief systems like islam, the ammunition to say the very things you are saying. The slavery described in scripture describes those who VOLUNTARYILY become slaves to pay off debts. OR those who have been captured during war, and in stead of them being put to death, they are spared and given the opportunity to be slaves in order to prevent them from rejoining their military and attacking again. The Bible is clear about the type of slavery that wrongly takes someone and enslaves them, being wrong. And that applied BOTH back then AND now.
We really have no idea what you're upset about :) Yes, the Bible is clear about "back then and now" and what God was dealing with in Exodus 21 was indentured servitude and not the race-based slavery of the American South in the 16th-19th centuries. The pastor isn't saying God changes, but that you need to understand biblical context by understanding the original audience's history, culture, etc. This is called proper exegesis and hermeneutics. Thank you for engaging with us @Gilchrist247
Context is everything. That's why I got a really good study Bible.
Amen and amen! Thanks for the engagement.
I can't say for Elevation and Gateway but I have music by a couple of artists who are published by Bethel, and those are fine. I will allow Jesus to be the Judge of Bethel in general, which is what I should do. Some mainstream artists who have been putting out covers of Christian hymns and Carols would be of greater concern. I have a fair bit of Hillsong material by way of music CDs and DVDs and I will continue with them. If I thought the songs haven't come from the heart, I would not. Songs that are personal by saying "I" and "Me" - you make it as though there is something wrong with that. They help to make it clear that the individual is important to God. I can't say I have come across any erotic in tone songs. I am aware that at the top there has been issues with both Bethel and Hillsong but that is not the artists or composers and lyricists. Now how about you having a go at some of the stuff that is in the mainstream instead of being a sower of further division?
Thanks for the good thoughts. A Christian can follow their own conscious and the Spirit regarding these matters. We don't/can't forbid people from making their own decision. We were stating why as a church we don't sing/recommend these artists. Individual songs might be OK but we don't want to support these ministries based on their poor theology (major issues) and associations with heresies and heretics. We are not "sowing further division" but testing the spirits and using Christian, Spirit-led and biblical discernment on what is wise, profitable, and best for our Body.
The biggest reason you should stop singing songs from Hillsong, Bethel, Jesus Culture, and Elevation is that their music embodies a false theology of worship. For more --> g3min.org/stop-singing-hillsong-bethel-jesus-culture-and-elevation/?srsltid=AfmBOoru6RWpcPwq688xC0yPBVwv4PcFyN7tH7QJ9geoayHy7Cmrn34W
@@GraceRiverNH False Theology of Worship? That's interesting! What I hear in Hillsong's music is a lot of thanks and praise both to and for our Saviour. Now how are you defining worship? I define it as to how we live our lives. I am not going to set myself as a judge of people I don't even know.
Example, you are God in heaven and here am I on earth, so let my words be few. Jesus, i am so in love with you. More like a love song than worship
@@MarkJohnson-jb6kn I don't think you know what worship is. What is greater than love? And Hillsong certainly haven't been short of words, so I don't think you know Hillsong's music either.
What are hill songs? If the content is " I " , then it's self worship.
g3min.org/stop-singing-hillsong-bethel-jesus-culture-and-elevation/?srsltid=AfmBOoru6RWpcPwq688xC0yPBVwv4PcFyN7tH7QJ9geoayHy7Cmrn34W

Why is it, that after 37 likes, YOU are the only exception that did comment. Well, it's about damn time! Well, I believe GOD saw you do that, and I believe he is pleased with you today.
🙏🙏
Hillsong more that other christian bands means so much for me They did wonderful songs starting from the early ones to the latest even if the style has changed a bit and of course we can't deny the impact and the awakening that they brought in the world during their concerts. The music, the words are really simple and spontaneous and far different from the music of these last years. You can clearly see the way the Lord used them. Talking about the ministry, I separate that from the worship team cause with their music they worship the Lord. I am 25 , I was born in a christian family and if today I am who I am and I've chosen (many years ago) to live for Jesus is because of them too. I've been listening to their music for my whole adolescence and I grew up listening to their songs. So I'm really grateful I respect your opinion by the way
Thank you. We highly suggest you give this a quick read: g3min.org/stop-singing-hillsong-bethel-jesus-culture-and-elevation/?srsltid=AfmBOoru6RWpcPwq688xC0yPBVwv4PcFyN7tH7QJ9geoayHy7Cmrn34W
so this is just an excuse for our parents raising us the way they did. nah
Forgiveness gives grace. Resentment and anger brings hurt.
@thor_2177 - Thanks for engaging. Certainly we don't condone bad parenting (neither does God!). The message is this: Christ gives us resources of mercy, patience, truth, grace and love by which we can love even "terrible" parents with His kind of love. In Christ, we are free from parental judgment and can heal from parental scars.
We agree with you! Thanks for taking the time to engage.
How do I have enough faith?
We can pray, "Lord, I do believe in you, help me in my unbelief." Faith is a free gift from God. So turn to God for more faith. He gifts us faith through God the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 2:8: "By grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast"
Faith is a gift from God, not earned through good deeds or kind words Faith is a supernatural gift that comes from God's grace and mercy Faith is a gift that provides assurance and security in our relationship with God

Unfortunately Hillsong music is slowly creeping into our churches by the younger generation under the excuse is that its more relevant to this generation not realising that these kids are being " LULLED" or being for a better word spiritually hypnotised into a false sense of being carried off into the heavenlies or Nirvana and it becomes like a drug that can't be done without. Thats why the charismatic and pentecostal churches are full of these kids who have left their parents churches looking for that buzz that makes them feel good then causing them to literally hate the mainsteam churches so when they finally grow up and come to their senses they don't know what to do.
Very well said, brother. May the church encounter the truth of the living God and His true Holy Spirit and lose their hunger for "experience," "manifestations," and "buzz"
We don’t need to be “adopted “. We already are sons and daughters of God. ❤😂🎉😂❤
Actually, Jesus says we're all by default "sons and daughters" of our father, Satan (John 8:44). In our fallen sinful nature, we are "children of wrath" (Ephesians 2:3) and NOT born as God's children. It is through faith alone, in Christ Jesus alone that we are blessed to become children of God: "He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God." - John 1:11-13
The serpentine head is “ the church “ ❤😂🎉😂❤
What? Do tell...
Excellent. Keep it up Brother for the Glory of God ❤

OBJECTION!! The law has never condemned anyone in that room. Paul said "apart from the law sin is dead". We were born apart from the law therefore our sins are dead. Objection sustained.
Romans 3:19-20 Now we know that whatever the law says it speaks to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be stopped, and the whole world may be held accountable to God. 20 For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin.
OBJECTION!! The Galatians were not pagans...they were scattered uncircumcised northern kingdom Israelites AKA "ethnos" (gentiles) Ephraims decedent's became a MULTITUDE OF NATIONS (gentiles). Objection sustained.
Whoa! We don't know what you're after friend. The Galatians were certainly not predominantly Jews by religion or ethnicity but pagan Greco-Romans at the time of Paul sharing the Gospel of Christ with them.
OBJECTION!! You were never under the law!!! Telling people in that room that they were under the law is a lie!! Objection sustained....
All of us are under the law, and subject to its penalties, apart from a faithful, trusting union with Christ Jesus, and this by grace. Galatians 4:4-5. The verse states, "But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law". Who do you think Paul is speaking about here?
@GraceRiverNH We were never ever under the law. Period. The fact that a church teaches that all humanity was subject to the law of Moses is scary. Paul is talking to scattered uncircumcised northern kingdom Israelites in Galatians. That's why he told them "we were kept under the law". Pagans were never under the law. Check this out: *He has revealed his word to Jacob, his laws and decrees to Israel. He has done this for NO other nation; they DO NOT know his laws. Pslam 147 That literally says the opposite of what you claim.
The church is not under the stipulations of the "Mosaic Law" but we are certainly under the penalty of God's moral, universal law. The Bible has several verses that discuss being under the law, including: Romans 6:14: "For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace" Galatians 5:18: "But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law" Galatians 3:23-25: "Before this faith came, we were held in custody under the law" Romans 10:4: "Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes" Romans 2:12: "All who sin apart from the law will perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law" Romans 3:23: "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" Explanation The phrase "under the law" refers to relying on good works for salvation, justification, and eternal life. The Bible teaches that Jesus came and enacted a new covenant that freed believers from living under the law. Believers are now under grace, which means they are not under the law.
@GraceRiverNH There is no such thing as "gods moral universal law". Paul said 'sin apart from the law (Mosaic law) is dead" Do you believe him?
@GraceRiverNH PS every verse you posted is contextually about old covenant Israel under all. The "gentiles" (ethnos) being redeemed in the first century were scattered uncircumcised northern kingdom Israelites. This is why Paul told them "we were kept under the law"...because they really were.
Praise to You our Father. Renew all of this in us Father. Bind the damage of the evil one. Set Your Spirit free in those of us that have been beaten down yet had known Your Truth. Thy Word is Truth. Reopen, restore, renew. Remind us of our child's faith. Erase the world from us Fatheŕ. I beg You Father, do not let our footsteps slip. Let us be found in You Lord Jesus. Let not the dirt of this world choke out the purity of what once was the great love of Jesus. Free us Spirit, that we can receive from You. In Jesus' Holy name, to the glory of God our Father. Protect us from the deceiver. Let NOT our love be taken. Give us this water Lord. Perform these miracles in the hearts of us who would be Yours. Please God help us all. Please.
Amen
