Beat UP RC Airplane Carbon Cub S2 with Knock off Camera Will it Fly or Crash ?
มุมมอง 662ปีที่แล้ว
This Carbon cub S2 has been crashed and re crashed many times, so I had no fear putting a camera (The ACASO Brave 4)on top of it. Let’s see what kind of in action aerial footage we got!
Carbon Cub S2 One Year Review

This Cub was my first RC Airplane. It has been a joy to fly and learn with this plane.
SPORT CUB S2 RC AIRPLANES Lets go flying !
มุมมอง 10Kปีที่แล้ว
This Sport Cub S2 RC airplane already has a huge following. It’s easy to fly features are ideal for beginner RC Pilots. The built in AS3X and SAFE technology will help the pilot combat wind, turbulence, and keep the plane level for a great flying experience! This budget friendly plane can still do basic acrobatic maneuvers under an experienced pilot.
I might add that the CG is 3.7mm from leading edge, cut power before landing to save motor and prop, be very carful with fragile battery connecter to reciever, throw the pointless foam spinner away, it can lead to imbalaned.
❤
Mine is nearly 1 yr old. I have flown it so much that the yellow paint has faded to more like eggshell white. I've had 2 crashes and snapped off the tail assembly in the same spot, and the custom mains i built tore up the battery cover. It's an awesome plane, and i plan on sprucing it up over the winter. Definitely buy one if you're considering it. I'm buying the SS for myself for Christmas.
Very cool!

The S2 has the weakest tailwheel gear. One less than perfect landing and the cheap thin spring bends. It wrecks the bottom Of the rudder and makes it weak. I've had to reinforce the bottom of the rudder with carbon rods to stiffen it and keep the wheel from tipping side to side Not impressed
Really? I mean, yeah, it's on the weak side, but my primary issue was with the weak main gear. I custom made an aluminum set that solved the problem, though.

Thank you so much, I have more confidence after watched your video, just got this at my local rc store
Great to hear!
Gees man. This video is absolutely amazing, you went into full detail, keep making these great videos!
Best video on this plane
Thank you!
Thank you! Very informative. Got this for my son’s birthday today! He loves it! Now I need to watch this another 30 times so we don’t mess it up lol😂
Sorry for the late response. So glad I could help ! Thank you for the comment and happy flying !
Wheel chocks are a great idea 👍🏻🇬🇧
I think so too! Thanks !
I have been wondering if i can buy one of these small cheap planes and swap all the go parts to my bigger glider.
Good question, I’m really not sure. I would recommend asking your local hobby shop.
😊👍💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
The optional GPS seems like a good part for an absolute beginner (like me). The GPS features seem as if they would lessen repairs and repair costs. That parts warranty seems like another good buy for a novice too. Nice video and info. Tnx, Rich. If anyone has any experience with the GPS as well as filing warrant claims, with the optional insurance, I would appreciate a reply here. Thanks.
Ahh the GPS, Landing Assist and the Flaps are optional add ons to make this plane a real dream to fly. Well not so fast! Try and find a TH-cam video where these features are clearly demonstrated and how to setup....it is IMPOSSIBLE! Horizon Hobbies and Hobbyzone should be ashamed of their ineptness at showcases these feature in action. Many of us coming from drones (or even helicopters) with very user friendly GPS (Return to Home) functions, will not find it easy to enter the RC plane arena. So frustrating indeed!
Absolutely useless GPS function is a joke. Learn to fly and monitor the battery for best results
That plane is big!
I like mine. This plane has very little down elevator in safe, or as3x mode for that matter. I gave mine a large mechanical adjustment so that it almost needs up elevator to stay level. Also run my cg more nose heavy. That would be my only complaint about this plane. Mine is a rtf so it has 3 flight modes. I suppose I could adjust more down elevator in forward programming? Maybe I'm not really sure. Does anyone have a suggestion on this? It's difficult to land sometimes because you simply can't get it down.
I definitely had to spend some time getting the mechanical trim just right!
I love mine. It is a RTF. I learned to fly with it. It does loops, rolls and inverted flight well. Only a few crashes - trees. Had to replace servos and prop once after getting stuck in a tree. I love the Safe Mode. I can switch to it in-flight when things go bad and save a crash. I fly at athletic fields early in the morning. Watch for nets! 6 mph max wind. It is easy to fix with hot glue and clear packaging tape.
I put a 10x5 xoar prop on mine after I broke the stock prop. It's definitely better than the original one.
I've never flown RC planes before. But I've been doing research on them the last few months. I think I'm gonna end up buying the Carbon Cub S2 & your videos helped me to decide on that one. Thanks, enjoying your videos 🇺🇸🛩️
I hope you enjoy it!
Can you bump the battery up to get more lasting flight time.
I personally haven't tried it. However I do notice variation of performance with the different stock batteries.
Nice video !! I love watching my brother make magic !
Thom, how do I Bind my NX10 to this Sport Cub? D R & Expo? AS3X & SAFE?
That Area would not be my expertise. I bound the plane months ago by following along with Brian Phillips RC. He has a stellar you tube channel and good videos on binding this plane to a computerized transmitter.
Thom, you're very Industrious I also design and build equipment to help me out on the field. Thanks for showing me your projects....great idea with the toolbox and I especially like the slot for your transmitter I never thought of that I like the windsock also ..good deal...so glad your channel is growing. keep it going you're doing very well!
Thanks for watching! Yeah i really hope some of these small tricks help people.
I loved this video , keep em coming I appreciate all your hard work
Thank you!
i love this plane to :) Thanks for the video
Thanks for watching!
Thom... I have an NX10 TX and 2 Aeroscouts, An F-18 Blue Angel, an AL37 2 Sport cubs and a few others... been flying for 2 years into the hobby...good video, bad crash!
That a fleet! Thanks for watching!
Tom...I like you...I like the video...I have recently aquired this plane and now I have the old one and this new one...lot's of fun and I really enjoy flying...trying to get some others interested in the hobby looking forward to more of your videos...thanks!
Thanks for watching! It is a great hobby.
Mine will be here tomorrow... and the battery on Friday (figures). So I'll get it assembled tomorrow and stare at it for a day. Or make vroom vroom noises with it like you did. My first plane too. I figure if I can fly it a couple of times without destroying it, I'll spring for an NX8 and then see what'll be my second plane. I already have a bunch of RC cars, but I wanted to try something new.
RobG Yes the Vroom warm ups are Key ! haha. With your background in RC I bet you will be able to learn the controls quick. One thing I love about planes, they can be simple to fly or as challenging as you want to make it.
Is the NX8 worth the money? I'm a long time droner and was wondering how the NX8 will do with the Cub I got ordered?
The NX8 was a Huge Learning curve for me! Frustrating at times, however I do think its worth it in the long run.
did you discover WHY you flew the model into the pavement.
Good stuff!!!
Thanks Horizon !
Check out these 3 planes, if you like the sport cub s2, you’ll sure like these: - Arrows Pioneer - UMX Twin Otter - UMX Citation Longitude
Will Do!
I’ve had my eye on this plane for a while, I really want to sit out on my front porch and fly it there in front of my neighbors
Learned too fly with the Carbon Cub aswell. The better you get to control the plane the more fun it will be. It realy grows with your skill level.
I totally agree. Thanks for watching !
I have it along with the NX8 and haven't flown it yet. Kind of discouraging to see how many times you've crashed it but good to see it is repairable. First flight will be in safe mode and in the spring of 2023.
Thank you for watching! Please don't be discouraged flying this plane. The only reason I crashed that manny times is because I was trying to show off. HaHa, Safe Mode, no wind in a wide open field. This should set you up for a good Maiden flight.
@@thomasbenedict Thanks...that makes me feel a bit better. I added the flaps so the initial flight will also be to see if I have the correct mix of flaps and elevators. I might get the water skis as well as this looks like a good way to use the plane...cheers
Good luck flying Robert!! They are great planes!!
Well done video. I subscribed and rang the bell so I will be notified when you hopefully do reviews of your other rc planes. Thank you.
