Did We Like Having The PVC Well Casing On The Trailer Lift Up? 💧Joel Hellwege, Pagosa Springs, CO
We don't know until we try . . . We used a couple of electric trailer tongue jacks to lift the entire rack of PVC well casing. Then, once out of the way, we could access the drill pipe to drill with. It worked great for tight spots.
The problem was that we worked in one tight spot after another an hour or more from the shop. We didn't end up taking the trailer back to the shop to reload it. And by the time we hand reloaded the trailer, it would have been just as easy to hand load the exact amount of casing we needed for the well by hand.
Plus, we built - modified - another single axle trailer for only well casing that worked great. So after about a year and a half, we took the lifting casing rack off of the trailer - but ended up with a nice casing rack for our yard. 😉

July 2020: This rig has a long story that is yet to be told. The deal on this rig was that after drilling this well for the man who sold him this rig, my son had to take off the truck and give the truck back to him. And that is NO problem for us, since we modularize all of our equipment with our Long Legz hydraulic system. Here we are in 2024 and this rig is headed to Colorado to get upgraded a...

@@AWBepi loving my occupation has always made me wonder if I’m working. 😉
No hard hat
Joel, it's mostly for increasing the uphole velocity, believe it or not with dual rotary rigs it's the casing that will determine the hole's straightness.
Thank you.
I had a 88 Taurus, V6 starter failure at the grocery store. I got a Rebuilt replacement and it wasn't assembled properly. The Bendix wouldn't disengage the Ring gear after starting. I will check it from now on before installation. 😑

@JoelHellwegeTheConnector yep. 2 starter changes in a parking spot with parking bumper. With the access behind the Radiator, it was a bitch of a good time.

That’d be the earths handiwork. Not god, who doesn’t exist.
Like riding a bicycle, nothing to it!
Things purchased from overseas sometimes arrived inaccurate, I had a set of wrenches that were absolutely useless. If we get into a war none of our tools are going to work.
Please don’t go back and complain about this. You’ll just look like a Karen. Take those bolts off, bro. The bolts are there for whatever probably to keep it. There is no need for you to keep them there. They are not conductors or anything like that.
@@jesus85ize, my friend, you must not be in the Pump business. This method of testing motors is what the largest motor company, Franklin Electric, teaches us in their seminars. What this means is the lower bearing on this motor is either not put together properly or the motor has been dropped during transport or something, not anything good. And installing a motor that has the wrong shaft height is guaranteed to require removal shortly thereafter.
It literally says it should clear the shaft right on the test gauge. Why are you even arguing, when it's printed on black and white right on the gauge?
Ignorance spreads rapidly on the internet
if its not an issue why have a gauge for it? no one wants to replace pumps prematurely
It's just the top bolt
@@Magnatarvillin, those bolts connect to the pump liquid and above the motor. This is the exact way that the motor manufacturer tells us to check their motors. Normally, we have to check used motors, but now, in these sad days, we have to check the new motors coming in. My point on sharing this is that those of us in the pump business had better be checking at the very least our deep set motors, so we don’t lose a half a day to a day of work and having to replace them.
Put the chain through a pipe so it’s semi ridged on the vertical.
@@brandongrassilli813, OK, for what purpose? We’ve actually used this tooling this way consistently without a problem since 2020.
There's a whole pond on the other side. Ha ha
@@perryrush6563, this property was served with water from a subdivision nearby who had to cut this property off from Water - they exceeded their limit of connections.. We drilled a 500 foot bone dry hole. Then, we dug a Test hole below the pond and there was no water there. Then we noticed that there was some saturation on the side of the pond between the pond and the road. So we dug down and didn’t see any water until about 7 feet down. The pond water level is pretty much level with the road. And in other videos that I’ve got posted, we show the little trickle of water coming in. that amount of water filled up the excavated hole with about 2000 gallons of water, we estimate. And this water is gorgeous water. So we are very thankful for the pond nearby that can add pressure to the water to squeeze it through the ground, and the ground cleans that water up. And yes, we will be recommending and probably installing a UV light for this client. But here in South West, Colorado, these are the things that we have to do to get people water. This is one very thankful client.

Is this in Florida? South Florida Water Management used these engines. There are still some old examples by Clewiston.
Should be sand or fines
@@IanKemp-ex2my, this is one of the reasons why I’m being very open about how we build our wells. Over many years in our area, anyone who has used silica, sand, or fine sand has ended up with wells that have been plugged up. In fact, a large animal preserve near us spent $100,000 on hauling in silica sand from Colorado Springs. This was about 15 years ago. They built the most bodacious infiltration Gallery Well with that sand. It plugged up. Two years later, they had nothing. We’ve seen the same thing happen in our Drilled Wells. Whatever we have been required by an engineer to use silica sand, and the smaller slots, the well simply plugs up. and again, I stress that this is for our area. Other parts of the country are very different in the way there need to be packed with sand or gravel. I think the difference is that we have the mancos shale here, and the little particulates of that she’ll come through and attach to the sand, which is just too small. A little bit of that clay needs to come through and it can be dealt with on the top side of the well with Water Treatment. However, our couple hundred of Gallery Well’s over the past 25 years don’t have any material coming through. So this is what works, and I don’t really have a good explanation of why. Also, in traveling around the country, seeing all the different Well Drilling styles, I have learned to ask questions about why something is done a certain way instead of stating that it’s wrong and it needs to be done in a different way. I’m amazed at what works in some areas doesn’t work in other areas.

Pipe needs split to be removed. Things get stuck. Cut a groove, it removes the outer compression, and the inner thing can be removed a bit easier. Sometimes the inner thing is in contact with the earth. Sometimes the inner is inside another pipe. I wouldn't know, I specifically avoid those type of jobs. First because I would never have thought to do that. Secondly, when I do think to go that path, demo a working model to the boss. He will have some 100yr old solution, that doesn't actually fix the problem, but look ls good on paper. I love 100ur old tech, but I can't stand doing plans we all know will fail.
@@gedion4000, there was a 50 foot well in an alluvial area that was a bottom draw well only. Which means that there were no perforations. When I come in to an old well like this and a client wants to see if they can get more water, then punching some holes inside of it to see, if more water can be accessed is something that can be done. In this situation, we did find out that there was more water, but it carried in sand. So ultimately the well was no good and a new properly constructed well needed to be drilled.
Not good to watch down like that thogh would get a phone holder
@@matthiasknutzen6061, I have a Prius V that I travel in. I don’t really have any area that a phone holder can be placed without it blocking something. Also, I am in and out of two to five vehicles a day. Different trucks. So this really does help. 😅
