Libertango played on the E flat Alto Clarinet.mp4
I'm not a tuba player, but fascinated by these masterclasses. One question: What's the piece? Did I miss something? (He mentions "Eroica" but there's no tuba in the Beethoven symphony.)
This was done in playback with them pretending to play - which is why they are so amused at times - you can see that mostly from their breathing and Buddy Rich's solo
I'm a basstrumpet player what size mouthpiece is that
Two giants in jazz.
Please, qui est le batteur ?
C"est Boddy Rich.
Bird est impatient de foncer.
Great Master on his bass clarinet 😊
Great job for the gresters
I was at this concert, and yes it was awesome. Oh Randy.
Did it bring you back happy memories?
Wow
Lovely. Thank you. X
the best saxo I've ever heard
Didn't know Lil Dicky played bass clarinet like this
Lol
GREAT TECHNIQUE AND DISPLAY OF BREATH CONTROL.
WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT???????????????????????????????????
Lil Dicky?
Great jazz! But.....who is playing the jazz on piccolo, what is the name of the song and what is the album/CD? Thanks
What's the name of this etude?
does anybody have the music for the Eroica TH-cam Symphony?
Sounds just like Valve Trombone
1:45 cool
tenor sax
4:22 Donna Lee quote!
That's the tune they're playing, I just figured out.
Insane.
I'm a bass clarinet player and just... Wow 😵 I'd never get that good in my life
He probably thought the same thing when he looked up to his inspiration.
Man I play bass and regular clarinet since 5th grade I can not do this lol 🤣
Great instrument, and a great player!
the 5 dislikes were strings players 😂
I play guitar and i really love it.
Sax players.
Mintzer and Dolphy all the days when it comes to bass clarinet.
3:00 I came
Wonderful! My wife and I just returned from your brilliant performance of Shostakovich 5 at Lincoln Center in New York City.
ah what was that ending???? the bass clarinet and the bass in duo!! awesome!!
Look up Jaco Pastorius Donna Lee live (this was Jaco Pastorius's band..he was the bassist)
@@JoshBabin thanks man! what a great concert!
As a bass clarinet player....this is amazing. Too bad I don't know how to play jazz
Yes you do you just don’t know it
@@nagol6801 lmao I don't know how to swing
@@julianruiz8524 have someone play a major chord on a piano and mess around improvising with the major scale you already know. That’s all it is brother
If you think you can and if you think you can't... you are right!
One of the sickest players in the world and this is tough as it gets. Jazz ain’t easy but you can learn how to play it.
How is it even possible to create a noise like that?
The secret is in the reeds, he used Bari synthetic reeds back then.
Chorus and reverb
He's being amplified through a pickup on the clarinet's neck, which makes it sound so synthy and squishy. I use something similar... nice sound, just not that bass clarinet-like.
just realized he is breathing circular. difficult while having this volume. respect!!
He takes fairly frequent breaths.
Easy to mistake with the resonance of the reverb on the mic, he’s taking a lot of breaths as the comment above mentions
amazing skill so fluid
That's a bach50b3(l)
No comments yet ... uploaded 10/3/11 and it's 2/20/15!!! Maybe everyone is as speechless as I am. It's a shame the video is so bad. The audio is fair. The performance is beyond outstanding ... truly incredible. This is the kind of music someone needs to publish as "The Top Virtuoso Performances". An offering of 15 or so works ... no two of the same instrument ... This one would be in the top 5!
+Rob Carpenter He copied the video
Can someone explain the hook up for Trumpet to Mic hookup. Like, what would I need.
what's the brand of that bass trombone? thanks!
Frederick Chen Bach 50B3.
Awesome tone and skill.
Man, his snare technique on this video was awful, the newer video he made is waay better.
Kinda like a trombone to me
Erin Morris it’s one octave below your everyday trumpet, which plays the lowest 5 notes in treble cleft. Those notes, in order of lowest to highest, are c, d, e, f, and g. It would naturally sound like a trombone if we give an octave down into the base cleft
Sounds great. What model bass trumpet?
What étude are you playing - and on what model horn? Beautiful sound!
Most likely a Bach B188 Bb bass trumpet, which is the most popular model or it could be the Kanstul clone 1088 Bb
It's the same as the arigonall
So... jazz bass clarinet is a thing... First time in my 5 years playing bass clarinet that I've seen a jazz one. Only two options now. Curl up and die or learn to get that sound on a bass clarinet.
Paul Dart i hope you've discovered Eric Dolphy by now
bass clarinet has been used in jazz for about 100 years now
Shadowy Sands by James Carter is a great exhibition of jazz bass clarinet
Very nice! So cool!
Thank you so much mr. Mintzer, in a better world this video would have millions of views, I concider my self lucky to have come across your music.
That note he missed towards the end made me feel so much better about myself.
