A sacrifice atop a mountain in Part 4? Sounds intriguing.
Now that I’ve come this far I guess I need to get to the end now! But then I think that’s kind of the point of Part 4…
Sending you all my best wishes for 2025 and the Serpent and the Seed!
Thank you so much - I really appreciate it!
6:19 It will be a reference to the song “Evil Thoughts”, by Jim Guthrie. That’s as much light as I (well, Google) can shed.
Good spot!
24:46 - This entire scene was so disturbing. The bittersweet mix of 'You are special, and that is exactly why I love you so much,' and 'Thank you for martyring the Scythian atop Mingi Taw,' all while the heroine is painfully puking on the side... very Lynchian, nonetheless. Looking forward to your session 4 video!
From my understanding ILO is big brothet, LANA is the little sister ... and the Ship is not malevolent they captured human and put them in small PODS with a BED is because the original race sent the ship to get the lost humans to there own Planet thats why the take care of the babies and take of the humans, Lana destoying the Mother Ship.... cut them from reuniting with the main group of ancient humans
That would be quite a straightforward explanation really, wouldn’t it? The “invaders” were trying to bring them home to Earth
6:59 "Pretty sure this is the first time we've heard of that being our intention, huh". I laughed out loud, because I actually thought I had missed that information somehow. But no, S&S' narrative is just very unique. For example, I love the way that the Cheating Cheater and the posse explains the moon cycle and even breaks the 4th wall to suggest us to cheat, it's so unnecessary funny. It also makes me really curious, why did they want to assemble the Trigon Trifecta? Did they also want to detonate the Megatome? Thank you for such a nice video!
You’re right - there’s never any explanation of why they would want to do it. I enjoyed making this one, thanks for encouraging me to. I think the next one I made a few days later was my favourite - hope you enjoy that one
@@andygeersI'm glad you made it! I hope it reaches more people

Great video! I just finished the game last night and was looking for something like this that would expand more on the meaning of it all. I had a few more thoughts as well. I noticed that the ship had a sword-like shape and happens to also be the icon the game uses when it’s saving data. I’m not sure if anyone has been able to translate anything from the game’s text yet, but it made me wonder if the icon and the ship might mean something like “save” or “saving”, indicating that it might be a rescue vessel or evacuation vessel used to travel to safety. Not sure why it looks like a sword, but seems to reinforce the theme that what looks threatening might not always be. The ship also had robots caring for (skeleton) babies in a nursery-like room, it would seem, indicating a history of that behavior, perhaps. The ship also seemed to have evacuation pods, some of which were unlaunched from the ship. Later you find a small hut that had been created from the shell of a pod, indicating that the locals started to re-used these pods as shelter after arriving on the planet. Overall I thought your theories sound quite good and seem to mesh well with my vague impressions of what might have happened. And I too enjoy a story that resonates deeply with faith. Thanks for sharing!
Ah, awesome thoughts- thank you! Love that little connection with the idea of “saving”. If you haven’t already, check out my videos about the game I’m working on, The Serpent & The Seed

I am so excited for this! I’ve been following for over a year now after learning about the game through PrayerMate. Praying for you and the whole team and for endurance to finish strong!
Thank you so much! It really does feel like the end is in sight, though there’s a long way still to go!
It doesn't actually look bad without lighting... but it does look great with it.
Agreed!
This is an incredible story so far! It's amazing to see the progress and hear the story of how the team came together. God's timing is wonderful! Can't wait for Act 1 to release!
Ah, it really has been amazing! Can’t wait to share it.

Thank you!
Wow! I'm filled with awe at what you and your colleagues (and the Holy Spirit) have produced! It's great to see it all coming together now.
Thanks for keeping us updated! Looking forward to Act 1 coming out. Was the plan always to release it in stages?
Good spot! No, it wasn’t. The whole game end to end does exist but none of it is as polished as Act 1, and we thought rather than delaying the whole launch it made more sense to release it in stages - hopefully all out by Easter but we shall see
Hey! It's been a while since you've done an update video, is the TSATS going well still?
Ha! Funnilly enough I am just sat at my desk now starting work on editing a new one :-) Thanks for checking in - it's encouraging to know that people care! It's mostly been that we've been so busy trying to actually get the game built.

Such an amazing video! Tha whole Logfella-lore is hilarious at the same time as disturbing. I wasn't expecting to learn about the Galgolithic Mass in a youtube video about Sword & Sworcery, pretty interesting nonetheless ❤
Yes, I had a lot of fun making this one! I was sat on the idea for it for months because I feared it would be too boring, but spending some time up in the woods in Scotland gave me the inspiration I needed to make it interesting
it's so nice to relief this experience along with your. comments! Are you still planning of doing part III?
Glad you enjoyed it! You’re the first person to express any interest in a part three, and since part two had so few views I wasn’t sure if I would or not. But in many ways, session 3 is the most interesting one, so maybe there is a way I could do an abbreviated version somehow.
Especially for you Alex, I did a Part 3, playing through the "Dark Moon" section of Session 3: th-cam.com/video/H19oaaUjJMU/w-d-xo.html
I guess every possible ever example of sacrifice, and also of 'i wasnt really dead'/ i can come back to life, MUST be a christ reference and allegory of that one story (which by all accounts of ancient civilizations and cultures is not even close to the first time that such a pattern of a leader/special character ever was told). But sure. cute cat pet is jesus
At the risk of getting into a discussion that you’re clearly not interested in… but I’m not suggesting for a minute that it was intentional on the part of the developers. I’m just saying that I enjoyed it!
@andygeers I won't besmirch your choice to see anything you like that speaks to you. I enjoyed the game too. As you can see from my comment, not shitting on the idea that ppl see signs, parallels, inferences in all kinds of ways, but I'm merely posting that it seems to be verging on a trope level of repetition that for analysis, specifically done by those with religious type of faith based views, and specifically within that, christian based views, seem to throw christ analogy at anything that might stick. Keep your aslans and more, for sure. But I'd wonder what about in games story at all has any relevance to jesus. An assumed death and resurrection, alone, is pretty thin. I appreciate that you replied.
Woah, such a nice video game analysis video: nice sources, interesting reflections on the music-game dynamic. It's definitely a really special game
Yes, it is such a lovely game. If you’ve not seen it already, it’s well worth Googling for “Sword & #Sworcery fan art” some time
Amazing! I played this game 10 years ago, I was hypnotized by it but sadly I never found too much content about it. I'm so happy I just found your channel! ❤

Thanks for this video. I absolutely love that game.
Ah, I’m so glad you enjoyed the video! What’s your favourite thing about the game?
Great Video and happy to discover more about this mythos and those references. Also, regarding the mythos, there might be more to unveil by playing "Jett: The Far Shore ", the creator reusing very similar elements/concept, when not directly identical sounds cues but I will let people discover this for themself and form their own opinions and ideas. Thanks again for this Great Video
Glad you enjoyed it! I have played a bit of JETT to explore the connections but never made it far enough to find any. Maybe I will find a play through video or something (I feel another video idea coming!)
@andygeers For links between the game, I found it mostly to be found in the second story (release last year and called "Given Time" ).
The main reason I played this was because I was a huge fan of inside less so limbo but still liked both so when I saw a game similar and it mixed war of the worlds in it too I knew I needed this
Yes, absolutely- the whole thing has such great vibes!
I think Jon would punch someone if they told him that the game is not really about the puzzles
Ha! Well, it's not to say that the puzzles aren't brilliant! But that the puzzles themselves exist to help explore a particular topic and make you think differently about the world.

@@andygeers thanks for the help! I got that far, but now I can’t find the config file to open the scenes in the game…. Any tips?
Nevermind, got it!!
@@joshuascagleGreat. You can’t actually “play” the intro as far as I’m aware; they are just sprites. But there are a few scenes you can play that I think are from the “insanely early build” they talk about having showed off during development. Essentially I think they’re just replacements for the ascent up to the perilous precipice. There is also one deleted scene from the dream world, with a little bridge in it

In my perception, MI1 is a funny cool game. MI2 also, but here Guybrush is a real kid running around in the amusement park and he imagines the adventures. That's why when you talk to the fishing guy on Phatt Island they both look like children in the closeup. That always stuck out to me. And LeCuck's eyes are a cool joke which they put in because, of course you would! P.S. Monkey Island 1 is my favourite game in the world
Thank you for your thoughts! It is certainly interesting to see the progression between MI1 and MI2
I've tried it a few times, but never got too far into it. I may have to try it again now that there's the anniversary edition!
Definitely worth it!
Congratulations!
Thank you! It feels like a big moment!
Great video! I really love how when a games mechanics mesh well with the story. It create a powerful emotional experience unlike any other medium. A movie shows you, a book tells you, but a game lets you experience and explore
Do you have any favourite examples of games that do that well?
Brilliant. At Ciudadanos de Gotham, we tried Braid Anniversary Edition and loved it. Hopefully, they make more remasters of this quality En español ;) Brillante. En Ciudadanos de Gotham también probamos Braid Anniversary Edition y nos encantó. Ojalá hagan más remasterizaciones de esta calidad
Yes- otherwise it’s so sad when there are games that were so influential in their day but which are now completely impossible to play. I’m so glad they did this!
my thought is that when the ship crashed, the ship didn't actually crash right away, if it did, why is there so many dead humans on the ship? why were the robots on the ship seemingly still caring for children even after the eventual crash. And most importantly, why was there no other use of technology (aside from the old man) on the planet. instead, I think the ship didn't make it to the planet, either running out of fuel or hitting some sort of asteroid near the planet. The humans either had to stay on their ship. or use the escape pods to land on the planet. Eventually, the ship did crash however, the captain, is nowhere to be seen only leaving the controller. This leads me to believe that the robot captain somehow stayed in space. But why would he stay up there? perhaps he was planning something. He was in charge of caring for the humans, so, perhaps he used whatever wreckage was left of the ship to build a new ship and eventually find a way down to earth to protect the humans. thousands of years pass. I think that the giant mothership AI is actually the upgraded version of the Captain, still trying to fulfill his directive. That's why every robot on the planet can still be controlled by the controller, and why the captain, the one who was coded to be the one in charge of the controller. Takes so long to be overridden.
I love it! Thank you SO much for sharing your theory- I find it fascinating hearing what people think!
Would love to discuss meaningful games of spiritual significance. Thanks for introducing Braid
Great to connect! Have you come across the Christian Game Developers Conference? They have active Facebook and Discord communities, and indeed an in person conference in the next few weeks
@@andygeers Yes thanks I am in that community and beginning to connect and comment as a Game concept designer /script writer (not a game dev, looking for collabs)
Beautiful video. I can't wait to see your game. I must play braid, It's only recently that I decided to treat myself better that I decided to become a more forgiving person. Forgiving yourself can be a great way to learn forgiveness of others.
You’re so right. I guess guilt and bitterness are the flip sides - neither of them lead us to a healthy place. Finding forgiveness to take away guilt can then be the foundation for letting go of bitterness and forgiving others. This is one of my kids’ favourite Bible verses: “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” Ephesians 4:32
I thought this was an amazing game, back in the day. I even managed to do the speed run - although I don’t think I have it in me to do it again. I think the mechanics and problem solving often distracted me from the narrative, although the quiet spaces with just the books did allow a bit of time to ponder them. One minor thing that did stay with me was one level where you couldn’t complete it (or I never worked out how) without leaving your wedding ring behind. But I never really knew if that was intentional or not, and you got it straight back as soon as you changed levels. But these felt like a certain sense of loss or “wrongness” in having to do it.
Playing it through again leaves me wondering if I ever actually completed it last time! It certainly feels like approaching the puzzles as new each time. Very satisfying when you finally solve them! The wedding ring thing reminds me of having to drop the Companion Cube in the furnace in Portal
@@andygeers It's certainly easy to forget how some of the levels should be solved. Did you remember the "princess" level? Ah yes, Portal and Braid - that was a good couple of years for gaming. An unlikely pair, both caring deeply about narrative, and organically testing and growing players' abilities, but in very different ways. The companion cube one was done in a very obvious way, and well played for humour (as in the game as a whole). While the ring one was so underplayed, that you're left pondering it for yourself, whether it was intentional, and whether you've done the puzzle in the wrong way.
Very good message! Keep up the good work! and never stop improving! :)
Thank you! Have you tried Braid yourself yet?
@@andygeers Not yet, but I plan to one day. ;)
Do it!
I have read it as chancellor Palpatine. 😃
I second Andy’s recommendation - it’s well worth a play.
It's 2024 and Braid is relevant once again - there's a new Anniversary Edition out! See my reflections here: th-cam.com/video/imu56543HKA/w-d-xo.html
