Searching with the can scenario
We decided to put a quick scenario together after training. Short search with the can, locate the fire room (in this imaginary scenario it is a fully involved room), do a quick peek and search for any viable victims near the door/behind door, then control the door and empty the can into the room. Continuing the search to locate a victim. We apologize for the lack of editing, again this was an i...
Body position while searching with a can

Using just a prusik, you can elongate your strap and throw it around you. Keeping one leg up, you keep your chest upright and weight back, allowing for a wider view in front of you and safer searching.
T hallway hose advancement
Moving hose through T hallways. Notice how the heel man moves the excess hose in the opposite direction the nozzleman is heading, making a straight line of hose all the way down the hallway. Also, watch how the nozzleman stops for a second while he is moving down the hallway, he felt resistence on the hose (due to the heel man still preloading), giving the heelman a second to catch up. It's imp...
L - hallways
Practicing moving hose through turns, this scenario is a left hand turn into a hallway. All the nozzleman needs to do in this scenario is call out what he's doing, make sure the heel man is keeping up, and keep an eye on conditions. The heel man is doing all the work, notice how he brings up a loop of hose to the turn point, drops it, then positions his body to the outside of the hose direction...
Practicing hitting behind both right and left
You never want fire behind you, but in case it happens, it can be a quick fix. Notice the heel man lowers his body so the nozzleman is able to reach behind him without difficulty. Also, watch the nozzleman's feet, hitting behind right he moves his upper leg across his body, hitting back left is the opposite and moves his leg away from his body
Moving and flowing by yourself
This technique is good to use if your backup needs to be humping hose at a pinch point but you can move forward on your own. Definitely too difficult with 2 1/2.
Another technique for moving and flowing
This is another method to move hose while flowing. The difference is positioning for the nozzleman, with the 1 3/4 hose this technique is not an issue, this is much harder with 2 1/2 and the Crooked Lean technique may be a better option.
Removing hinges with hand tools
Using a set of irons to remove hinges. Rarely you will need to remove an entire door due to the fact that you now have an uncontrolled vent opening. Times that would call for it could include master stream/blitz operations where you need a wide opening that has to stay open, or an extremely fortified latch side that a set of irons either cannot overcome or would take far too long to force, leav...
Hotel room door force

Solid door that could have taking a little better technique but nonetheless was still able to force
V DEPLOYMENT

Deploying pre-connect with the v-deployment technique. Note, if this method is used, make sure the hose is lined up to go straight into the doorway, vs. parallel to the wall like it is in this video

Adams County Fire Rescue hose management 2 1/2 inch
2:58 good!
Trying using it correctly. That's the easiest way to get whacked in the face.
Great work! Thanks for the video
¿Pero sí puedo comer pollo? :'v ¿Quién come carne en el desayuno? Jajaja
Good. Im from indonesia firefighter

What’s pressure are you pumping at
what was the discharge pressure?
Though these techniques certainly would be much easier than manhandling a line with ur arms I think there would be a drastic difference in what you see in this video and real life at operation pressure
Agreed. Unfortunately we had to operate off hydrant pressure. We did the best we could to show the techniques. Operating pressure they still work, just takes a little more energy
Use your legs more than your arms or you'll spend yourself quick!
Fuck yeah
Lovely
now could you successfully use these techniques at operating pressure?
Yes, these techniques work excellent with full operating pressure for smooth and fog nozzles. We were resource limited this day and had to use hydrant pressure for the videos. Go ahead and try it out, firefighters need to know how to operate 2 1/2 by themselves.
a good video, you have given me ideas to train with cones, thanks
