@@kingkenny2797 Lots of different attributes required to make a good hurler. Skill is certainly one. Athleticism another, along with speed, strength, awareness, determination etc. No one player ticks every box, but I think Tommy is higher up the scale in every facet of the game than anyone else I've seen. He could have played in any era, in any position. It's objective obviously, but I don't think I've seen a player ticks as many boxes as the bold Tommy

He's a legend of the game already and he broke our hearts more times 👏👍 still I'd put a few ahead of him i think as the greatest but he was absolutely brilliant and he playdd the game as it should have been played. @@kingkenny2797 Good reply Kenny. My dad thought Jimmy Doyle was the best he had seen, but also thought Tommy was great. It'd be great to see Doyle playing in the modern era with a bit more protection. I also loved watching the likes of Joe Deane, who though small in stature, were able to use their skillset and touch to overcome brawn. Other great hurler's like Canning, Sheflin, Delaney, Whelehan, Lynch, etc could have definitely played in any era
@@jimmysavage9061 yeah big Joe Canning in his prime was something else, Shefflin top class. I think TJ Reid has been phenomenal for KK. He hasn't had the team Henry had around him and the skill set and engine on his is crazy. He's was everywhere at times. Joe Dean could turn on a sixpence and I'd say a backs worst nightmare to mark. Eoin Kelly for Tipp was probably our greatest player in the modern era i think. How luvky we are to have this game, the greatest game on earth IMO played by dedicated players with passion.
You cannot take it away from Cody and that great Kilkenny team. There were no weaknesses. Tommy was a terrier. I can not recall him having an off day. He was a class act.
