One of the best "Act 1 end, Act 2 start!" sequences in any game, imo. The guy comes back super sized with 2 entirely new movesets, and with vengeance on his mind. Not to mention the reveal that MC hasn't been the _only one_ leveling up. The Shades seemingly have, too!

Hahaha that last scene with Majima saying Kiryu chan is for the OG fans because we always knew Majima as a crazy person always fighting Kiryu, and in Yakuza 0 you finally know the tragic backstory and why he was like this ... taking life not seriously.

These games are seperated by hundreds of years. Drakengard 3 - Drakengard - Nier Replicant - Nier Automata. That's how the chronology of this universe/timeline goes.

What a great game, I hope you will experience other routes. but to get final endings you have to unlock all weapons by completing some side quests. Also you can download free NieR automata dlc skins and weapons

amazing its actually one of my fav games , i do refer the old games over the new ones maybe nostalgia , but since you enjoyed this one , i suggest you play games with darkers themes , not in a literal sense but more in the psychological horror : shadow of colossus ( a silent masterpiece a therapy almost ) rule of roses haunting grounds (similar as clock tower ) kuon silent hill 3 or resident evil the room and remothered

Just found this in the middle of my Yakuza craving and I'm immediately subscribed. I really fw the energy, it reminds me of the first time I played these games.

Also shout out Kiryu trying to help Hamazaki, a guy who despite what i noted in the other comment *really* didn't give Kiryu a single reason to think he deserved it. After Mine and Ryuji and Nishiki before him you can tell Kiryu really needs to just once save *someone* from self destruction for a change.

Mine is such an excellent character. Could likely be even better in a hypothetical K3 much like K1 did a fuckton for Nishiki, but still they communicate so much about him with so little, and Kiryu lying to Daigo to let Mine's legacy be that of a good friend is so peak. Great boss too- and the conversation before is interesting as a parallel to the end of 0, with Kiryu having switched places with Shibusawa from the young upstart who thinks he understands it all to the older yakuza who lays out some hard truths (though, the role reversal does not include a morality reversal). That said I can't excuse slapping Haruka so I can only extend so much pity. "Be gay do crimes" has its limits. Hamazaki is also surprisingly interesting here- again, a lot communicated about him in just one scene. It's not just pure evil, man is clearly deeply unwell and unhappy (not to excuse him). Two games now that end with a Kiryu fake out death then show he's back in post credits. Daigo also on a two game streak for insane clutch gun moment.

top 3 yakuza game for me

Such a underrated game in the series and I'm glad you were able to see it for the peak it is, can't wait to see what you think about games like 4, 5 and LAD

Man can I just say how much I love your videos on Yakuza 3? You got no bias and the genuine excitement you show for the game... its like experiencing it for the first time again! Really looking forward to the final of 3 and also hope you cover the other games!

Can we also talk about the fact that Haruka came face to face with one of the most powerful and ruthless yakuza in Japan and slapped him, then when he retaliated immediately picked her back up and gave him the mother of all death glares? I have to imagine even Mine was slightly intimidated by her sheer lack of fear

Y3 is divisive but yeah i agree it's phenomenal. Some people dont like it because theyre only here for the action and crime drama and the game is lighter on those compared to others, some just dont finish because they find the early slice of life parts too much, some just really dislike the whole Black Monday subplot- the reasons vary. Lots are also more focused on the visuals and gameplay which are obviously to most people weaker than any entry except the vanilla PS2 games But imo, if they cleaned it up with a Kiwami 3 to the same level K1 cleaned up 1, it would easily be the best in series.

People write this off for the wholesome dad simulator early chapters, but these later chapters don't hit without those early ones. this is why Yakuza 3 is among my personal favorites in the series. can't wait to see you take on the finale
