Come deep dive in order to rise up.
Feel free to be in touch if you have any questions whatsoever (LiberationSpring@ProtonMail.com). Looking forward to sharing this experience with you soon.

    I realize this is two years old, but a. I am dying to go to one of these Convocations since I heard about them and I so appreciate this conversation about your experience. I know they had problems with some of the participants and it almost kept them from having a second one, but they did... interested to hear if either or both of you participated, and if you have heard that it might happen again this year... Also, I was in Chiapas with my brother's coffee roasting company that used to roast Zapatista and Abejas de Acteal coffee, and was able to participate in the kick off for Marcos' National Tour (in 2006 or 2007, I think?), and slept on the floor of the big barn at a Caracol. I remember they had a huge party for the people from around the world who came to march from the caracol to San Cristobal, and it included an awesome electro-punk band of Zapatista kids. The vision of them playing their keytars and drums in their masks... so amazing. Thanks for appreciating the joy and humor and sharing that. <3

      Thank you for watching & for these kind musings! Yes, scientism is the kind of phenomenon that's extraordinarily well-critiqued academically in certain fields. However, that deconstruction hasn't translated to most of our communities. Yet, anyways : ) And is only increasingly important for us to be able to clearly name and address in a time like the past 1.5 years where reasonable debates are getting shut down all around us thru a recourse to so-called 'expert' hegemony. Hope you're able to tune in to more of the Weeds & Seeds series as we share plenty of these kinds of interventions!

    I'm very late on watching this video and I'm not sure if anyone will see this... But great and exciting work! What a fascinating space to occupy with your research. I recently spent a month and a half in Mexico and I found it difficult to digest the typical meat-heavy street-food fare. However, I am now having an epiphany/duh-moment realizing that the meat-heavy diet is a colonial influence and not traditional at all. Love this body-as-landscape analogy. SO insightful! And also, in a literal sense, the food we eat is shaping our gut flora allowing certain bacteria to thrive and others to disappear. Our gut flora goes on to directly shape our thoughts and emotions. How are colonial influences on food choice influencing our psychology? I am going to be sitting with these ideas for a while.

    • @liberationspring
      @liberationspring 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for listening and for these kind words! Hope you're able to listen to more of the Feral Visions podcast. Would love to read your musings on additional episodes, as unlearning the colonial field of psychology is a massive theme we subsequently examine. In the meantime, hell yes to encouraging people to make the connection that our gut flora's psychological impacts are mediated thru colonialism. And will also be impacted by our decolonial endeavors... : )

    The video doesn't seem to be loading right now, but I did watch this on your podcast. And I had some thoughts I wanted to share. When I was little I noticed this apathy everywhere, that seemed to come from the fact people (mostly adults) didn't want to recognize how they were contributing to the injustices of the world. Back then I called it a lack of love, because love and accountability were inseparable for me back then. It's lowkey painful to acknowledge, a lot of this series has showed me all that I've forgotten since I was educated outside of school/before school by my Taino grandfather, and my mother who very heavily followed his teachings. I feel like people might be feeling for those who are suffering but, their compassion and empathy only go so far as their words. For example, when people say that they care about those with disabilities, even if those people are their loved ones, they don't care about how those people are limited by the world. Like if you say you care about people in wheelchairs, to them it doesn't mean that you would personally build them ramps, or personally fight so those ramps could be built. Back then, if I cared about someone in a wheelchair and I saw them being limited by that, I would, automatically, think of other people like them, who were also being limited, and because I care about them, I care about people like them. (Which my therapist called, "taking on the world's problems," which was a bad thing according to him.) So much of my unlearning of amazing truths happened in school, and with school therapists, and "mental health" people- I cried to my "guidance counselor" about how in my textbook they called living people casualties, and they described how some of the soldiers getting off the boats on D-day literally didn't make it to shore because their gear was so heavy, they just drowned, and my teacher showed a film clip of so many people dying in the movie Pearl Harbor, and nobody in the room gave a single shit, and I was shaking, trying not to cry out- my mom commended me for crying and caring that deeply- and my "guidance counselor" "abstractly" told me I was just being sensitive, and I'm only crying because of my "real problems", at home. And I live in a deeply blue state, and my school is 'progressive', so I don't even want to know how it goes down in red states. Safe to say, I no longer associate school with education, but colonization and deep miseducation. It taught me to count, to read, and write, and some great teachers in that system, that were great -because- they fought the district, taught me how to research and recognize bias. And for those teachers I am grateful, for school, I am not. This was really long, but this series has given me a lot of great insight, and has helped me to remember the ways I thought of the world when I was a child, and has seriously help me to fight back against my compartmentalization. Thank you so much. I can't wait for the last episode.

    • @liberationspring
      @liberationspring 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Reese, this comment completely made my day : ) You're very welcome. Thank you so much for sharing these musings. Isn't it ridiculous how much harm the mainstream 'educational' system does unnecessarily? In so-called "therapeutic" spaces, too. Give thanks for the life-saving capacity to push back against that trash to make space for what we actually know to be true. My personal experience echos some of what you shared here, too. Having such profound knowing as a child that was almost traumatized out of me starting in middle school. Especially in those heartbreaking sites where these catastrophic empathy deficits front as *normal. 6th grade was complete devastation. Being pressured on all sides to be obsessed with shopping & music videos & celebrity culture when all I wanted was to end deforestation & abuse like was happening in my family. Hell no. I care, deeply & multi-directionally. And no cruel bullying status quo is gonna stamp the sparkle out of my eyes or diminish my yearning for justice or expansive sense of kinship. And- no thanks to that comment your therapist made about 'taking on the world's problems.' Culturally, most of the planet is actually collectively-oriented & holistically minded & not hyper-individualistic. That disconnected perception 'in a vacuum' is illusory. Also, thank you for wading thru this sometimes dense material, cuz what I've shared in this series isn't even a 1st draft so it's been rough/unedited lol. I hope you're able to tune in to Saturday's video. Would really appreciate reading your reflections on that one if you're down to share! Merry solstice : ) PS- Final note: the documentary Militainment covers that sanitizing language of the war machine really well, in case you haven't seen it! It's available for free viewing online.

      Thank you for this comment and sharing what you did. It's really great to hear that the dialogue was beneficial for you in that way. Oh, ANOTHER fantastic word for my lexicon- epistemicide is SO perfect to describe what's happening! This severance on every level from the mycelium network of our own exquisite knowing and connection with the ecosystems- human and otherwise- around us leaves us existentially suspended in a directionless void and this is *absolutely* intentional on empire's part- being able to verbally reconnect our inner map of the intricate systems of knowing to the complex mechanisms of ecosystem is one of the intentional ways I use language to transcend and disempower the hollow 'psychologies' of the dead. I now use omnicide on such a regular basis (and point individuals constantly towards your work as the source of this word) that individuals around me are starting to grok what's happening on a much deeper level that reflects and honours their *own* knowing. Loving this conversation, will no doubt have more to say as I listen further. <3

    • @liberationspring
      @liberationspring 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh, you know healing from epistemicide is legit the core premise of the manuscript I'm writing. I'm so stoked for you to be connected with that languaging! And yes- that ungrounding has reverberations in every realm. Hence my focus on it as a focal point of the revolutions that're so long overdue. Thanks for sharing these musings. Liberation Spring I am particularly observant of the intersections of this knowing within a BIWOC framework- there’s such a DEARTH of these conversations in the general that what you’re sending out into the world is nourishment for my spirit- I loved the point you made about it being entirely possible to find individuals with whom one resonates on this complex ecosystem level- it is exhausting for visionaries and cultural shift engineers to be so isolated and marginalised. Your conversations bring community into my physically experienced world of one and I deeply appreciate it.

    I love what Claudia says about the decolonizing not just being a theory but an action!

      You can say that again! Yep, it's little without being put into practice.
