2024 Solar Eclipse in HDR
Two real-time recordings of the totality period of the eclipse, one using a stationary telephoto lens, and the other with a wide angle lens looking around at the environment. This video is HDR and looks much better on a HDR display, such as an OLED TV, Apple XDR display, and most smartphones.
I traveled to Sandusky, Ohio to see the solar eclipse on April 8, 2024. On the morning of the eclipse, looking at the weather and the projected path of the moon's shadow, I decided to drive to a park in the town of Huron. At this location, totality lasted about 3 minutes 51 seconds.
Puffy clouds in the morning cleared out around noon, then a thin transparent layer covered the sky at 2pm, before the eclipse. Luckily the sun's corona was visible through the clouds, although they most certainly reduced the visibility of stars during totality. But the clouds caught the light, enhancing the appearance of the eclipse shadow in the sky.

Golden Gate ambience and timelapses / 4K60 HDR

Coqui frog sounds in Volcano, Hawai'i

10 minutes of frog and rain sounds. Coqui frogs are an invasive species in Hawai'i, originally from Puerto Rico. They dominate the nighttime soundscape with these peeping noises. Taking the tourist boat tour at Falkirk Wheel. This is a rotating boat lift in Scotland. Scotland has many "Lochs" or lakes, at various elevations, which are connected by many "Locks" which are canals that can raise and lower boats. Walking around an old growth redwood grove after rain. Some parts of the trail are flooded, so there are "alternate paths" taken. Montgomery Woods State Natural Reserve is a relatively remote redwood forest between Mendocino and Ukiah, California. Fantastically captured surroundings, impressive landscapes. Simply gorgeous and enjoyable atmosphere!
Such beautiful, colorful replicas. I am on the lookout for pre-owned HO scale brass versions of these two beautiful steam locomotives for my brass model train collection. They're hard to find, but, I'm keeping my hopes up. 😊 The two 4-4-0 engines in the video are a sight to be behold! It's hard to take my eyes off 'em! 👀
So apparently the zoo in Omaha houses and sometimes uses one of the original trains that was there when the spike was driven.
The two locomotives in the video are replicas, Wikipedia says both of the originals were scrapped. I found another page that says Omaha has a 5/8 scale replica of the 119, the engine on the right. Pretty cool!
