Volvo I-Shift output play (230k miles)
Having issue with vibration while driving. While checking every shaft notice this play in output yoke on transmission backing plate.
Please let me know in the comments if this is normal or excessive?

Did you have that fixed? What was wrong with it?
Had this issue for months till I read a post in a chat where the person was having the same issue. The solution was to do the following... On a cold engine, disconnect the MAF sensor. Start and run the engine till it's at normal operating temperature (I did and had no warnings on the dash while the MAF was disconnected). Turn off the engine and plug in the MAF sensor. Let the car sit and go back to cold engine. Start the car and should not have that issue going forward. I went through this same thing and it resolved my idle drop at cold start. Hope this helps.
It's normal, the large planetary gear have looseness. Its actually rocking at output bearing. That's why seal not leaking. It has .038 inch end play. Under a load the gears spread out and are coated in oil, play is reduced. Hard to believe but it's true

Try it, I had this problem for a long time and was very skeptical about fuel additive but was shocked when it worked
Try to turn on the car with the AC off and see if it goes away
FIX HAS BEEN DISCOVER!! Whoever said problem is gasoline was right. Just go buy fuel system/injector cleaner at your local bmw dealer and add it every other tank fill up and you won’t have this problem no more

bad gasoline, I had it like that, changed the gas station, everything went well. but there may still be a crankcase ventilation membrane

@@minesy72it has 2 of them. 1 on each bank. Bad gas is doing this…use chevron Techron additive

Have the same issue with my F85. BMW dealership updated software, changed trottle body, some rubber sealing (for luck under warranty) and still doing it. Now waiting for injectors change to see if will fix it 😞

@@BigZee yes, indeed. I don't have the issue anymore (at least for the time being). We found out that 2 of the spark plugs had some oil in so the BMW guys changed some kind of rubber sealing (sorry, Im not a mechanic myself). I can send the details of what was done (I have the bill in German but you can also see part numbers and pics) and it might help
My M3 and X5M both did this. It was a bad ignition coil in the X5M and a bad 02 sensor and Coil in the M3.
What exactly is the problem? Can't hear or see any problems at all. No ECL or delayed start.
The problem is that when you try to start up vehicle when engine is cold it’s rpm’s are not stable, it sounds and vehicle shakes like it’s about to stall and after it warms up rpms go back to normal and when you continue driving and car is warm everything is perfect
Did u checked vacuum line??
Dealer said they checked the vacuum lines twice with smoke machine and found nothing. Do you know what vacuum line in particular might cause this? Or is there a typical hose that usually break more than others?
@@KalchykDen you could try the ccv valve , solved the problem for some other guy i saw with the same problem

This is a very common problem across multiple models, no one knows, I changed spark plugs and coils, no difference. My car drives otherwise fine, has done it since new. Huge mystery, very common on n55.

Looks like a cleaner version of the same problem I am having. The driver complaint was the truck would shake. Checked driveline and the only thing I found was play at the transmission output. Does yours shake the whole truck.

Thank you for your input. I had to go to Volvo dealer and check if their brand new trucks have same play. I found out even brand new trucks have some play in it. I guess I’ll have to test my injectors with PTT

My f10 M5 15k miles was doing an oil change and you could smell gasoline , had a rough idle and would stall , dealer changed injectors & sparks plugs , got lucky with warranty as it expired 2 days before going into service
Mine does same thing. But it sounds like it’s misfiring and stumbling for a second. Also when the o2 enters closed loop the rpms dip to almost stall then comes back. Plugs just changed. Coils next.

@@M3dicayne I didn’t unfortunately. Still doing it to this day. Dropped my vehicle to BMW of Denver and these guys are either completely stupid or just don’t know what they’re doing but they couldn’t figure anything out in time span of almost 4 months total car has been at their dealer. They’re saying it’s normal and they don’t see anything wrong. They’re saying some of the x5m do that and some don’t which is just ridiculous for them to say that. I will be switching dealers soon and try to get them to find the problem but until now I couldn’t figure a solution
@@KalchykDen Thanks for the response. There are some nice panels in the net, someone there will know what's wrong. I've got the X5 M50d here in Germany and hell, even that thing is awesome to drive. Good luck with your X5M and drive safely.

@@BigZee those idiots in BMW of Denver Downtown didn’t do shit. They told me they checked for vacuum leak and found no signs of leaks. Also “replaced all spark plugs” but I doubt they even did anything. On top they damaged my car. My car still does it but not as much as it used to since I replaced my main battery
