My name is Peter Bahng, and I am a violinist. I am also the CEO and founder of Cremona in America.
In 2009, I started making rosins under the establishment of Cremona in America, and the name of the rosin was ANDREA which a lot of string players are familiar with. In 2020, I changed the name to CECILIA rosin. CECILIA is the patron saint of musicians, and it is also the name of my mother who passed away in August of 2019. In early 2020, I started making my rosin under the new name CECILIA. This major transition with the new name for my rosin is a tribute to my mother and her loving life. It also celebrates another decade of producing premium rosin for my musician friends all over the world.

I'm a professional player and have been obsessive about my rosin for years. When I tried your Andrea orchestra rosin, I immediately thought it was the best I'd ever used and have recommended to many colleagues and students over the years. When looking at the rebranding, it seemed like that version of rosin is no longer available. Is that correct??
That is correct, David. A fair replacement for the "Orchestra" formula is A Piacere. However, if you must have the "Orchestra" formula, you can contact Cremona In America through its website and make a request.

How often do we use this in our daily uses? Every time when we apply rosin?
You don't have to use it every time you apply rosin, but you can if you would like to remove any excess rosin. Definitely right after you rehair your bow.

The problem with rosins is that you have to get a fresh cake. If it's been sitting on the shop shelf for a couple of years, it's past its prime.

I enjoy this rosin soooo much! I can play the super loud passages without any of the squealing sound! My violin playing has been much cleaner! I used to use pirastro goldflex but now im never going back! This rosin is just amazing! My teacher is the one who introduced this rosin to me, and this rosin is just pure amazing!

Wouldn't it make sense to use it in both directions?
The rosin would tend to drag and catch if you did that. Like the way bass rosin should only be applied in one direction or you might pull hairs out with the rosin sticking.
@@Fictacello Ok. So I had a quick read. This is a complex issue. Horse hair, like human hair has a grain, or barbs, or direction. But the size of the barbs is so small that once the hair is worn in, it’s largely irrelevant to the directionality of the hairs ability to hold rosin, or its sound/tone, and the rosins propensity to stick is largely chemical rather than mechanical. Some bow makers / luthiers mix the direction of the hair on violin and viola bows, but on cello, bass, gamba etc, they lay the hair with the thicker stronger root end at the frog. Some lay the hair root at the frog for all bows - including fiddle - to keep the stronger thicker part of the hair where it may endure the higher stress near the frog. So, in conclusion - there may be an argument for rosining (and combing) in only one direction - but only if the bow hair is lain unidirectionally (root at the frog), and perhaps only if the hair is fairly new. Outside of that, it probably doesn’t matter, but as most people end up with their excess rosin at the frog, combing away from the frog makes the most sense. I’ve often wondered about this. Thank you for promoting me to have a read.
