Tornado Damage on the UP - Before and After at the Iron Cross in Nevada!
Back on April 22, we captured an eastbound Union Pacific train near Nevada, Iowa (th-cam.com/video/edOTZbQYRm8/w-d-xo.html). Just four weeks later on May 21, an EF-2 tornado would cross right over this same area damaging nearby homes, outbuildings, and the numerous trees that lined the tracks in this area. This video taken on June 8 shows a before and after view of the area along the UP's ROW east of Nevada.

Mixed Freight at the Office in Scranton
มุมมอง 34วันที่ผ่านมา
Welcome to Scranton! Iowa...not Pennsylvania. Home of around 500 people in Greene County, Iowa, along Union Pacific's Boone Subdivision, but it's not the home of Dunder Mifflin. Anyway, on this day, we caught an eastbound mixed freight (or manifest if you prefer), complete with some empty DOD flatcars. Enjoy! #railfanning #trains #railroad #unionpacific #up #iowa #scranton #theoffice #boone #up...
CN and UP Power Moves and The Tara Diamond - CN's Cherokee and Waterloo and UP's Tara Subdivisions
มุมมอง 17314 วันที่ผ่านมา
Tara, Iowa, is a ghost town in Webster County, west of Fort Dodge. The Tara Diamond is where the CN and UP cross - UP's Tara sub running north/south from Grand Junction to Mallard... and CN's Waterloo sub to the east and Cherokee sub to the west. We spent an hour or so here watching both the UP and the CN work their respective yards. Enjoy! #railfanning #trains #railroad #unionpacific #up #iowa...

CPKC Local and Lots of Horn in Emmetsburg! Nice Brake Squeals and some fast moving clouds!
มุมมอง 74หลายเดือนก่อน
We started this day following a UP Unit Ethanol train as it headed east from Superior, Iowa. When we arrived in Emmetsburg a CPKC local was heading west to service industries in and around Spencer, Iowa. As the local crosses the many crossings in Emmetsburg we get quite a horn show! Enjoy this local as it heads west on CPKC's Sheldon Subdivision. Stick around at the end for a timelapse of this ...

Join us for a leisurely ride through the peaceful landscapes of Highland Meadows, New Mexico, as we follow a BNSF train traveling westward along the Gallup Subdivision. While this video may not feature the usual excitement or dramatic scenery, it offers a serene glimpse into the simple beauty of everyday train travel. As the train glides along the tracks, you'll be treated to the calming sights...

Union Pacific mixed freight - or manifest - at what's left of Pastura, New Mexico
มุมมอง 101หลายเดือนก่อน
The small farming community of Pastura, New Mexico was founded in 1901 as a water stop for steam locomotives on the Southern Pacific Railroad. In 1907, the railroad constructed a 142-mile wooden pipeline from the Sierra Blanca Mountains to supply Pastura. When steam engines were replaced by diesel in the 1940s, Pastura was no longer needed as a watering station, leading to the town's decline. N...

Tornadoes are so weird. Total devastation... except for these trees here, in the middle of it all. Mother Nature rules all.
Hey, song name please? It doesn’t match up with the one in your description. Also, cool video.
Just double checked it! The name is correct, but the link TH-cam is providing to the song is not correct. Here's a correct link: th-cam.com/video/VlohuOGWzG8/w-d-xo.html
@@MoreTrainVideos Thanks! I appreciate it! Enjoy your weekend.
Big Boy still the King
Big Boy belched some but then mmm effortlessly shoved while ahuling a dead diesel and his own cars mmm
could have had 50 more frieght cars on Big Bad Boy, probably never spun a driver,
Thanks for the before and after comparison demonstrating the power of "just" an EF-2 tornado 👍
That's dreadful!
Oh wow
May I ask what camera you use?
In this video the ground camera is a GoPro HERO11 and the drone is a DJI Mini 3 Pro.
Just because it's old, doesn't mean that it can't work anymore.
Tara depot is almost completely hidden now by trees. 40 years ago it was clearly visible from the county gravel road. Tara is an interesting location, 2 class 1 railroads cross and 3 large shippers, Cargill, CJ Bio and Valero in a ghost town.
There's definitely a lot of growth around the depot these days! Nature is gradually reclaiming it. We hope to get back there soon to take some closer up video and pictures of it with the drones. The day we visited was a bit too windy for precise flying.
This 83 year old masterpiece showed it's power to new gen trains that what he can do and new trains unable to do.
Magnificent! Thank you for filming the trip further down the line too!
Thanks for watching!
Look at all that freight! Great views!!
"Grande Big Boy",La potencia en su maximo esplendor.
This is definitely coming from the Railway Series with this one. 4014 became Henry and pulled a Super Rescue.
How many tons in total pushed Big Boy?
The freight train weighed 9,505 tons with 146 freight cars and two diesel units, the train that Big Boy pulled weighed 1,495 tons, making a total of 11,000 tons, adding up to 146 freight cars + 3 diesel units, 6 passenger cars, a cabose, plus the two yellow tank cars = 158 cars in total without counting the locomotive and its tender, and a length of 10,052 feet = 3063 Meters, or 3.063 kilometers.

Wonder where all those 2 bay hoppers were headed. They normally used for dense, heavy commodities like sand.
West side of Spencer by CF Industries there's a siding where they unload gravel/sand/rock. I can only assume they're going there.
@@MoreTrainVideosPattison Sand co. is the company that owns that little siding, they have multiple locations throughout the CPKC in the midwest I believe
Good to know, thanks!
@@MoreTrainVideos no problem! great content by the way
@@iowarailfanner2029 Thank you we appreciate that!
Precision railroading in action. Not just combining auto racks and intermodal but a mix of domestic and international boxes.
I just came from watching another video trackside. Big Boy is one magnificent hunk of steel. That bad boy made that look easy! A few red faces for the diesel engine drivers when grandpa had to come and give them a push. 😂 What a glorious sight! My stepdad used to restore and drive traction engines, and my dad restored antique tractors and barn engines. I just love all this old engineering! 😍.
This might be blasphemous... but I'd love an alt version of this with the high pitched "tinitus" removed and the radio chatter added/increased.
Nicely done. Interesting view of the Wigwam from the drone.
Love the scenic isolation of New Mexico along the Golden State Route!
Yup, same here. I've driven US 54/60 twice now from Santa Rosa, west across the state. If you want to railfan, this is a good road to do it. Traffic is fairly light and there's a lot of activity, especially west of Vaughn on 60 once you get along the BNSF Clovis sub coming out of Belen.
Interesting mix of domestic and ocean boxes in the consist.
Nice video
Thank you!
Nice video, shows how most bridges aren't protected and an even worse tradegy can happen if one of these ships hits when a train approaches or is on the birdge
2nd train had 148 cars. damn, that's a long train
They have some long ones out there! We got one last March near Gibbon that had 293 coal cars plus 8 engines. Our rough estimate was it was 16,000 feet, or 3.05 miles long and carried 35,160 tons of coal. th-cam.com/video/Er7CJdEpSnc/w-d-xo.html
Excellent, quality content. Keep up the great videography and editing!
From the looks of the consist on this train my guess is this train will continue east through Fremont and Blair, cross the Missouri the head north on the Sioux City sub at California Junction eventually ending up at Valley Park yard in MN. The domestic containers at the front was my first clue.
Great videos! I do have one comment however. Many videos these days refer to "mixed freights" but in my day and before, a mixed train was a freight train that also carried passengers, either in a coach, combine, or in the caboose. Non-unit trains were just called manifest trains or something similar. Opinions everyone? 😁
Wide open spaces. Can you imagine traveling across the prairie on the CNW in the late 1800’s. Interesting video of an isolated interchange.
Oh I know! I recently traveled through eastern Colorado. Found a spot on the highway where I stopped and got out...looking around there was nothing but prairie (other than the road I was on). No buildings, no towns, nothing. Had to be quite the adventure crossing Dakota in the 1800s. Thanks for watching!
I've driven through that area many times but have never seen anything moving. Thanks for catching this!
It was our first trip there and we definitely got lucky. Thanks for watching!
Wolsey must be an active interchange point between BNSF and RCPE given the appearance of the track in the Y’s .
Yeah we assume the same thing. There's legs on three of the four sides of the diamond and they all appeared to be in decent shape.
Liked the recaps at the end
They were lots of fun to put together!
The day they told 4014 to shove it. She did and how!
A female voice on the detector now? Just heard Walmart is selling all their containers to JB Hunt. Probably won’t be seeing them much longer as Hunt’s Containers move on BNSF 25:15
I'd seen that somewhere too and figured that was the end of WalMart on the UP.
Very nice video not very often that google maps street view is from 2007. So I assume Wellton isn't a major stop by any means. That said due to the date & WB direction my best guess is this was 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team from 1st Armored Division @ Fort Bliss, TX heading to National Training Center (Training) Rotation 23-06 @ Fort Irwin, CA.
That’s a lot of trains, especially enjoyed seeing the Sunset Limited. Nice catch!
Thank you! That line stays busy, that's for sure.
Wonder where the east bound coal train originated?
We're trying to figure that out too. Twice we've seen westbound empty coal and an eastbound loaded. Seems backwards for that location.
Your shots are always splendid:)
Glad you like them!
Cool video
Thanks!
Burrrrr, thanks for braving the cold. What a difference a month makes in Iowa weather.
It's been an odd winter for sure.
38:01 very interesting intermodal, a mix of domestic and ocean containers, 20, 40, and 53 footers. Dry boxes, a few reefers, and even a tank or two.
Nice catch!
Love the data info at the beginning of each clip!
Thanks! We try to provide as much context as possible at each location we film. We're experimenting with some additional data in our Subzero Railfanning mini-series right now. If there's any other info you'd like to see please let us know!
Finally i got to see the lead locomotives of the stalled train
We're happy you found the video so you could see it! Thanks for watching!
2:38 Ferromex boxcars in Iowa. I guess they do migrate north.
Guess they do sometimes. The real treat would be some Ferromex power!
How incredibly long that train is!! Great shots!
I just remade that entire fright train
Did you remake it on a model layout or one of the various train simulators? And did it stall going up a hill? :)
@MoreTrainVideos I made it in a game yes and no it didn't stall at any hill (probably because the weight wasn't realistic)
