How I cook the PERFECT Crayfish, Every Time.
Cray, koura, rock lobster, what ever you call them. They are DELICIOUS!
Albie gave me a cray so I thought I would share how I cook these succulent morsels.
I love to cook a cray up this way, then chill it in the fridge and just cut it in half to eat it.

      Can they not be classed as a pest? These big boys are NZ rock lobster, from the ocean. My friend Albie gave me this one as an early birthday 🎁

    • @knucker4931
      @knucker4931 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @bagheerasadventures they are classed as pests. If you catch one by accident, say you bring your tackle in to re-bait your hook and a crayfish is hanging on to your remaining bit of bait, it is illegal to return it to the water. Enough of that though. Best wishes for your upcoming birthday! Al

    Thanks for the video; it helped answer some of my questions about this combo. If we take your recollection of cook time for a lesser amount of water in the original pot there is maybe a 20% improvement in boil time with the heat exchanger pot. This point really deserves a more controlled test. Next I will agree that the seating of the pan supports into the pot slots is a little fiddly and it looks like the pot is actually resting on the rim of the windscreen rather than the pan supports which isn’t very stable with the pan supports pointed either in or out. I would be a little concerned that the pan legs might engage the pot slots too much on occasion and lifting the pot off could cause the stove to tip over. Thanks for also answering the question I had about the pot handle and whether it could be folded over with the stove nose down in the pot. So on the surface this seems like lucky combination but in practice possibly an accident waiting to happen. I was just about to pull the trigger on one these pots to go with my Svea but now I think maybe not.

    in the late 60s yamaha came up with the "YamaLube" system which stopped the need for premixing. We ran the Enduros up and down the hills around Sardis, Grenada, Enid, which are all large government-built flood control lakes with campgrounds around Clarksdale. There were trails for miles and no restrictions to speak of. after about ten years of that it changed quickly. They tarted putting in the watwr lines and electric lines and the primitive camping became a money making thing. They ran the motocross folks off. Run all day on nothing.

    Looks like fun. We used to catch Stripe Bass on the rock dikes that run out into the Mississippi river. When the water gets right at the top of them and begins to break over the tops you pull up on the downstream side and cast up to the rocks as you float away from them. Somewhere up and down the length of the dike you will find the spot where they have bunched up and if you can put your rattle trap in that spot with a cast they will hit it every time. Enjoy.

    oh man this is awesome! I have a small titanium cup that I use which protects my svea, but it doesn't have the heat exchanger fins on it that this has. For cooking in and heating water I normally use a firemaple 1.5 liter pot which has the fins and a wide base. It definitely ups the performance of the svea. I did a snow melting test and was able to turn snow into 1.5 liters of lukewarm water in 15 minutes with the timer starting right as I lit the prime (before putting the pot on). Something like this looks good for saving weight when doing trips with more minimalist meals. Good find!

    • @bagheerasadventures

      Thanks man! How do yoy find your svea performs in the snow?

    • @charliemcdowell5231
      @charliemcdowell5231 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@bagheerasadventures I find it performs great in the snow! Out of the box it struggled in the snow, but some mods changed that. I use a strip of carbon felt tied with a bread twist tie around the generator tube (sitting in the little priming dish). This makes priming neater and you can get more fuel on there. This hugely boosts its performance in the cold and snow. A good prime is the key. If you do a poor prime in cold weather the stove never really recovers and you have to restart. I also use a small square of cardboard and a square of reflectix that I encased in aluminum tape. This insulates the stove from losing heat to the cold ground and gives a stable base. I also use a full sized wind screen that I snug around the pot and stove. You can check every so often to make sure the tank isn’t getting over pressurized if you’re concerned, but I’ve never had it come anywhere near that especially in the cold. I found it uses roughly 6 grams of fuel to prime and uses about 12 grams of fuel to get 1.5 liters of snow melt and 12 grams to boil that amount. It’s a low BTU stove so especially with a heat exchanger pot very little heat is wasted. Prime with alcohol/spirits in warm weather to stay cleaner and in cold weather prime with white gas/coleman camp fuel.
