La Placita belongs to musicians, restaurants, locals and tourists on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday nights. During the days, I buy fruit and vegetables from Placita Tito, a lovely shop run by good people. In voting season, which is now, vote for Puerto Rico which means Democrats, don't vote for Republican fascists.

A long video of half of the weekly hour-long rally of Madres Contra La Guerra outside the Israeli Consulate in Hato Rey, the business district of greater San Juan in Puerto Rico. The previous week's rally was canceled because of lightning strikes across the island; rain and heat does not stop the rally but lightning does. And hurricanes, but that has not been an issue since the first rally o Oc...

Walking from Condado to the island of San Juan, Escambron Beach is the first decent beach, and it is huge, gorgeous, and popular. Love sitting next to the beach watching the sunset and ships traveling east, or north. El Morro can be seen from the east side of Escambron Beach. On this night, a full moon!

I have more of the same string band on the playlist Parades. As well as other bands.
Other band videos on Parades playlist. These bands are all awesome.
My favorite produce shop on the right. They only sell you good quality fruits and vegetables, including locally grown, which I love.
With all the words of praise it’s time to get this and new years on TV
God bless Kate Smith ❤
PHL added on terminals. They already had a Terminal A when they built this one, so this is Terminal A West. When I first started going to Germany in 1986, foreign departures were from a converted hangar a drive around the airport. Terminal A was built next to Terminal B in the 1990s, and then this gorgeous terminal in the last 25 years.
This is always so fabulous. I understand the band leader has his own TH-cam channel, if anyone can tell me what it is, I will link to it.
The right side of the cathedral was supposed to look like the left side, but they ran out of money in 1929-1930. So did everyone. Casualty of the worldwide depression.
Love all marching bands. Everyone had so much fun on a beautiful spring day.
Belief in the Rapture is a serious distortion in Christian teaching. It is a twisting of Scripture of Apostle Paul in particular and warned against by Apostle Peter. Sometimes it preached by false Jewish Zionist or Messianic teachers who actually deny Christianity while preaching their own version of Jesus Christ for their own selfish motives/purpose. These things are all the great Apostasy that Paul did warn about would appear at the end times. It is also written in the Quran that it is normal for them to deceive Christians. The best counsel to this is from Paul also in Galatians Ch 1 about not accepting a gospel of Christ preached to you that is any different from the original Christian New Testament Scriptures. Also refresh your memory by reading Jude 17-25 and Galatians 1:6-10 ~
Thank you for this. Yes. Anyone reading or not reading the Bible knows that the Rapture is nonsense, and that genocide to bring about the Rapture is about as evil as anyone can get.
I saw them also on Sunday morning, September 15th, 2024. A weekly nonviolent rally? Love it.
Gosh. Seven years ago. Looks very different now.
The first day back. They huddled, but that did not stop them eating or chatting with bystanders. Gorgeous animals.
The goats returned September 7th 2024 for a week.
Huge space, usually empty, but during the biggest festival of the year, the San Sebastian, it is jammed.
I recorded all the bands as they came down Haddon Avenue on April 20, 2024. Magical. I am still posting videos from that day, about half of them are already on my channel. The most popular, by far, is a video of Quaker City String Band which I recorded during Philly's St Patrick's Day parade in 2023. I love that video, cheers me up no end!
Oh Roger! I first saw him at Christmas, he was a tiny kitten running across the Condado Lagoon park, being chased by a dog. He ran up a tree, and I knew he was the best cat ever. DIdn't take him long to come when I whistle. Another grandchildless cat lady, Maria is the most serious grandchildless cat lady, feeds 17 cats every evening, and she has had all 17 neutered. I call him Roger because gato rojo, or rojo gato. He's a red cat, gorgeous.
This video is also on Mr Boyle's youtube channel, and on Lois Wickstrom's channel. It has been watched hundreds of times, and has an important lesson for nonviolent resisters and the reach of the US government. Mr Boyle is a hero.

I believe the speaker is Olga D. González-Sanabria, from Wikipedia: "a Puerto Rican scientist and inventor. She is the highest-ranking Hispanic at NASA Glenn Research Center, and a member of the Ohio Women's Hall of Fame. González-Sanabria, Director of the Engineering and Technical Services, is responsible for planning and directing a full range of integrated services including engineering, fabrication, testing, facility management and aircraft services for the Glenn Research Center. She played an instrumental role in the development of the "Long Cycle-Life Nickel-Hydrogen Batteries" which helps enable the International Space Station power system." Wow. Is this she?
Dr Sonia has held these rallies since October. Shame on AIPAC.

Oh wow! Thank you for this, and for your great music! I hung out as you all warmed up, turned a corner and saw a string band, which I recorded, and turned back to record more of the pipe band. The string band became my most popular video, and turned out to be Quaker City String Band. Love the thought that went into the kilt.
I’m a snare drum with this band. We were playing “Shenandoah” while warming up the pipes and having the Pipe Major check that everyone was in tune. Our tartan is unique. It’s a combination of the Betsy Ross flag, the City of Philadelphia flag, and the Pennsylvania flag.
What song are they playing? Thx.
This was a tremendous video. I had never heard of this person before. Although I’m not very well-versed on American history coming from Canada.
I had never heard of him either before Pamela and Joan both gave talks about him. We are so focused on badly behaved men and women that we forget that huge numbers of good folks came before us. Joan's talk was earlier and is on the same playlist! Lovely that you watched, and commented! Thank you, Susanna J Dodgson.
I’m contemplating starting a podcast centred around meaning, specifically where different people find meaning. Do you think Mr. Smith would be interested in having a conversation on this topic?
No idea. We were so happy he spoke to us.
Lovely playground.
This name of the string band is Avalon String Band
Thanks. Really appreciate that. Not sure how I missed their name. Will fix.
Thank you PR!!!!!!!!
They have a sign, I can't read it.

Love watching the sun set over the Atlantic Ocean.
This remu ds me of Mummering back home in Newfoundland.
Exactly Mummers. Their big day is New Years Day in Philadelphia when they are in the Mummers Parade.
I am in Tears. Beautiful
I was there tonight. It was hopping.

This is the view from the Philadelphia side. Before the bridge goes over the Delaware River, it goes over some serious roads.
I love their energy.
A lot written about Father Michael Doyle. An activist and community organizer. He really tried, and was greatly loved.

The Spanish built, and left behind, magnificent buildings with courtyard parade grounds. Perfect for popup markets and concerts.
Could someone explain the costumes to me. Love from UK
They are Mummers. Philadelphia has a big Mummers Day Parade on January 1st, when groups are ranked. Groups take all year getting ready, and figuring out ways to fund the costumes. Terrific tradition.
This brought a tear to my eye! So lovely - from South Africa
Wonderful! I was in Johannesburg briefly in 2013 and 2016.
Here I go again, constantly looking for the people who cheer me up ! God bless you all
Works for me every time!
Friday night is salsa night in Old San Juan. I know this band has a channel, please identify it so I can link to it. These guys are fabulous, every Friday 7 to 10pm in the square on Calle San Francisco.
سبحان الخالق العظيم
So uplifting. Love watching them❤❤
I watch it repeatedly. I first came across them in a St Patrick's Day parade, and was so excited when I learned they were comíng to Haddon Avenue! I recorded the other bands too.
