New England Wandering
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 17 มิ.ย. 2022
Welcome to my page.
I'll be wandering around New England and maybe beyond. Anything goes, fishing, hiking, camping, finding old abandoned towns deep in the woods. I just enjoy being outdoors when I can find the time and I want to share my adventures with you.
Please subscribe if you want to see more and like the videos. It only helps get more exposure to those who want to see this type of stuff. Thank you!

We were nearby and said why not. They offer a scavenger hunt with a prize. We spent maybe 30 minutes there. Neat to see all the types of pez products

I caught a few fish. Not the target species. I was hoping for some trout but I can't complain if I catch anything. Much more difficult fly fishing from a kayak especially when it's a bit windy. But I made it happen

I'd never been here before and wanted to see the old forts. lots of neat info online with pictures of what the place used to look like before they removed all the guns and such. the beaches were really nice also and not too crowded for a weekend

One of my favorites. I've never been skunked here. I probably caught 15-20 fish today in just a few hours. Mid day fishing, so not even prime fishing hours. There are monsters in here for sure. I've seen 3-4 foot long carp and some of the biggest bass I've ever caught were in here.

The B-52 Amazing plane..Sad to see the crash site.. I have a restored ejection seat in my basement from B-52. Bought it on ebay restored it 20 years ago fun project..
I live in new ipswich
Good fishing out there
Amazing trails and rock formations. These all looked Amazing! I'm excited to explore Screw Auger Falls. Which one was your favorite? Thanks for sharing
I'd probably say screw auger was cool to wander inside it. But step falls is the best for swimming/cooling off. Water was chilly. I'd guess low 60s mid 50s chilly. But felt really refreshing.
I was just in Milford and didn't know this place existed. I definitely have to take my girls here. Thanks for sharing.
I just stopped by a few days ago. It's a nice place to relax also. Bring quarters, sometimes they have feed for the fish you can buy. Really gets the fish moving
Thanks for the memories, we use to ski Temple all the time! 😊BACON WRAP
Bacon wrap? Haha. Thanks for the watch
@@newenglandwandering that's my name
What do u usually catch there? Brookies? If so are they native?
Brookies and rainbow. I believe there is a stretch that's for native brookies only. F&G does stock further downstream brookies/bows/ browns
@@newenglandwandering what stretch is it? I have fished other parts of the piscataquog and only caught stockers
@mitchelldexter1901 if you look at the F&G digest it tells you. But basically from Lyndeborough rd to rte 13 (near pizza place) is managed for natives or so I've read online. Buts a more restricted fishing section and I believe it's due to that. I could be wrong
@newenglandwandering thanks for the feedback! I just looked at the regulations for parts of the South Branch Piscataquog River in New boston, and usually, they only have those rules in place for native brookies, so I would say u are right. Thanks!
Will explore this late July. I can't wait Thanks for sharing!
Enjoy there is a lot to look at there I didn't even get to see it all
@@newenglandwandering good to know!
yo just commented on another video from Brookline, but i grew up in Francestown lol
That was a fun lake to fish. Lots of fish
"What happened here" is an ominous sign to come across
Well done. Thank you for sharing your hike. Looking forward to more chill hiking videos.
Thanks for watching!
I just subscribed I love hiking and exploring abandoned I found your channel interesting.
Thank you. Appreciate it. I'm always out there doing stuff so I figured why not share it from my point of view
Nice video, it really captures the beauty of the woods there. I grew up there, and would visit the falls often. Swimming in the summer and climbing the ice in the winter. Back then the road was unmaintained, but open. You could easily drive through to the other side, and even down by the falls. There was a clearing nearby that my father told me had a bandstand a long time ago. Numerous old home sites in the area beckoned bottle hunters. The campground was a going concern, and very popular. The owners were good friends with my parents. I sure miss living in that little part of heaven.
Appreciate it. Yes it's such a neat spot up there
Amazing, where is this in Peterborough?
The river is high this year, but this spot seems higher than where we were. From where in the notch did you access the river?
The water was definitely higher, it was only a few days after that torrential downpours. So it was flowing good, but I've seen it higher. This spot was along the Ammonoosuc actually. So just north of the notch. We camped in the notch. Crawford Notch campground, highly recommend it
@@newenglandwandering We jokingly call Crawford Notch Campground our summer home. It is, for us, the high standard by which we assess all other campgrounds. They've had a rough year this summer. Lost 300 trees and part of a few river sites. They bounced back after Irene. I'm sure they'll do the same this time.
Camping, fishing with friends. Awesome video
Agreed. Good for the soul
Great video !!
Appreciate it. If you like the caves check out the polar caves one I posted also. Very similar just alot more caves.
Black rooster tail has always done good in the souhegan
Yea. It was way too early in the season. Before they stocked. And that section isn't known to be great but I had always wanted to try it. At least I got a good river side nap in at the end. Thanks for watching!
I've had good luck at Sand Hill Reservoir catching bass but needed to get away from shore in a kayak. Pratt Pond is where I fell on my butt and sprained my knee slowing me down for the rest of that season.🤣 Bluegills are basically what I caught there. Neither spot had heavy fishing pressure when I fished there.
Yes. I've been there a few times. And I usually see good sized bass swinging the shore lines but I've never taken my kayak out. I'll have to try that next time. Thanks for the tip. And Pratt Pond is hit or miss. But I love that spot and how quiet and serene it can be there
Pretty river!
Thanks. Good fishing once it's stocked. Sadly I was out much too early and the fish rarely hold over the winter in this section.
Do you go to Vermont and Maine too
Not as much as I'd like. But it's in the plans this summer. I'm a bit limited in the distance I can go right now with work as I only get 1 day off a week. But eventually I'd like to spend weeks at a time fishing and camping in VT, ME and all around
Nice sharing my friend! Have a great day!!!!
Thank you. You as well
Have you tried a little further up stream in the special reg area?
I have not yet. I was definitely out way too early before they stocked that river also. Any particular spot upstream you'd recommend?
Love this wonderful video, have a lovely Easter and stay safe fan debs xx ........
Thank you. Happy belated Easter to you

Good vid!
A few years ago, NH Fish and Game posted signs on the Milford stretch of the Souheagan that the fish were not safe to eat. They were paper signs stapled to trees and deteriorated within a couple of years. Evidently there was a Paint Plant on what is now a Superfund site near the Milford Drive In. That company dumped toxic chemicals into the water and it leached into the riverbed. Now I fish the Souheagan in Amherst or in Wilton and further southeast where there are no postings. I just don't eat anything that comes out of the Souheagan to be careful. Beautiful river but heartbreaking to see what we've done in many rivers in NH... not just the Souheagan.
Yes the superfund site you speak of is a mile or so downstream. I personally wouldn't eat fish out of most waters in Southern NH due to pollution. But good to point out still
Brother Have you ever tried fly fishing?
Yes. I just got into it 2 years ago. I love it. I almost brought it for this adventure. I have fly fished further upstream where it's fly only areas. This was more of an exploratory and just get out day. I'd been wanting to check out that spot for awhile. I'll go back in spring once warmer with fly gear when I can stand in the water longer than 2 minutes without freezing
hey my family and I built that well
That's cool. Always interesting to learn where and why things are especially here in New England with all the history we have
Nice place.
Nice video! It’s a great hike, even in the winter.
This your best episode yet!
Thanks Glenn
When I was hiking there in August 2022 I met the brothers George and Bill King, owners of King Farm in West Townsend, and they explained to me that they erected the cross years ago in reverence to their late mother. Apparently, the King family owns land within the bondary of the State Forest from which they still harvest lumber from time to time.
That's cool to learn. I've been up there a few times and always wondered why it was placed there. Thanks for sharing
I like the old abandoned equipment! I saw what looked like fresh machine tracks.
Yea it's still operational somewhat. Looks like it's for sale
I'm an okie but I sure love Vermont, New Hampshire and upstate NY. Granite mountains, dense forests, clear water and cool weather are some soul food for the troubled mind.
Love ur vids they the best
