What KA said really hit home for me is the fact that the WSL and major surf brands have completely gone off track trying to sell this sport and lifestyle to people who don’t even partake or care. Ignoring the people who actually give a rats ass about this sport and culture, that audience they are trying to grab isn’t sustainable, they will stop watching and buying at some point cuz at the end of the day they don’t actually surf or care about surf culture it’s a fad to them and fads come and go. Burning the bridge of the fanbase and core surf fans who you ignored and rejected in the process, the core go you here and They are the ones who will stick around if you don’t screw them over. I watch 1 maybe two events a year where 8 years ago I hardly missed an event. I rather watch Nathan on the slab tour go hunt crazy barrels with his brothers than watch the WSL.

I have surfed my whole life in crowded Orange County. And it has always been absolute chaos. 50 dicks st . It’s rad to hear how God used Britt in church ministry for a time and has now transitioned him back to business ministry. It’s funny because our identity in Christ doesn’t change because or employer does. You can still have your quiet time with Jesus, be involved in church life, and go to work. In my spirit I sense that he is at peace with where he’s at in his journey. Shalom & God bless Britt & family

The biggest takeaway for many viewers was the vanishing landscapes & conservation angle. One of the worst forms of environmental hypocrisy is the claim that giant, invasive wind turbines are "clean & green" because they're supposedly fighting the very oil that builds and maintains them, plus fracked gas for backup. Here's Doug Tompkins in 2015: "The way of thinking that could create those windmills is the same way of thinking that caused climate change in the first place." (Dark Mountain site)

Yo Guys, enjoying the show from Buckeye, AZ. I finally have a wave pool open and within 60 miles. I Agree with your reaction to once again having Turpel, "Flick," and Tati's "Guy in the Chair" (and Hubby) repeating the same cached phrases and brilliant insights. (Anger building..😂.) With their perfect lives locked securely away from the dangers of potential audience interaction.....and following their blueprint of fan ignorance and phony drivel, my out of proportion desire to call them out starts to high pitch whistle through the chatter of heated molecules of almuminum and h2o. 😮😮 Still dig Waz, a beacon of authentic intent to reach a simple fan and surfing enthusiast! Thanks for another great show and for putting up with what my wife and kiddos would call "me being extra"

I'm going to reach out in a more professional manner guys, but your Pipeline forecast caught my attention as I watched this show this morning. Been a loyal listener with some big professional changes in recent months that prompted me to create a backup plan. The Emmit Malloy family tree is truly remarkable: in addition to the obvious trio of professional surfer brothers, the generations also include professional baseball players, all American athletes, hollywood filmmakers, successful businessmen, ranchers, and so many positively impactful people too numerous to count.

I just watched Brad Gerlachs 1991 OP Pro comp. And even though he did not win, he did the baddest backside floater on a huge section. Still one of my favorite rides in the OP Pros history. 🤙🇺🇲🇺🇦

I am a huge fan of Caity's. She's got a special "it" factor to be sure. But Erin is taking things to another level. I have said it before and I'll say it again, "Erin is digital and Caity is analog." But I don't mean analog in a romantic sense, like "let's have a glass of wine and listen to some jazz on vinyl." The distinction here is raw vs refined, yes, but there's more to it than that because this is the real world and in the words of the great Mike Tyson, "everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth." Sticking with a boxing theme, another analogy can be expressed here using the words spoken to Rocky by the great Apollo Creed. (Rip Carl Weathers) He told Rocky, "You fight great but I'm a great fighter." Most people would stop here and assume I'm connecting Apollo to Erin and Caity to Rocky in this analogy. That Apollo is digital (Erin) and Rocky is analog (Caity). That Apollo was refined, polished, a true professional fighter while Rocky was the raw "analog" street fighter. Wrong. That's just the "hook" we're misled to buy into so that we can imagine in our suspension of disbelief that Rocky has no chance against Apollo. But Rocky trained...hard. He became refined. He became polished. And he also had the most important ingredient of all. Heart! Near the end of Rocky 1 Apollo knocks Rocky down and the fight should be over. Instead Rocky gets back up. Apollo is already celebrating only to turn around and see Rocky not only standing, but motioning Apollo to come fight. You can see by the look on Apollo's face that it's in that precise (fictional) moment of exhaustion that he realized Rocky will never quit. It's in that moment when Rocky in fact won the rematch fight in Rocky 2. Erin has trained. And trained...and trained hard some more. And it's because she has heart like nothing I've ever seen before. There are plenty of epic moments of Erin out there that I could point to for demonstrating her technical talents. I could point to her elite backhand (Snapper 10pt ride), or her world class front side barrel riding (Pipe Masters), or her excellent performance at Cloudbreak, but if you want to really see a demonstration of the "why" she even has those abilities in the first place then you need to see her "heart" in action. For that there's a little known moment from the ISA's a few years ago which is must see. It's like her version of motioning to Apollo to "bring it", only Erin was sending this out to the entire surf world...but only if they were paying attention. It was the 2023 ISA's in El Salvador. A 15 year old Erin had been relegated to the repechage rounds early after an odd (but fair just to be honest) post heat call by the judges in the 2nd round. With the clock winding down in repechage 9, scorching heat both in and out of the water, Erin gets hit by a 5 minute washthrough. She's getting pounded on the inside doing everything she can to get back out the back to catch a wave before time runs out. No one knew it at the time but there was a puppy on the line. Her father had promised her that if she could make the final he would buy her a puppy. To my knowledge no surfer had ever progressed through 11 repechage rounds and made the final before so he probably figured it was a safe bet...and it should have been. But she couldn't make the final unless she could catch a last second wave and make her heat. And she couldn't catch a last second wave to make her heat unless she could punch through the washthrough which was pushing her 30 yards back for every 10 yards forward she managed to paddle.
