I can't believe you actually inked it.

I get the feeling that the usability is kept in mind with these pens, the cap can be very dramatic but then uncapped it becomes more relaxed, more manageable, as a writing experience. It at least makes sense that way. I still prefer the Yukari Lion Mother.

Silly question from a new 50 owner: Do you leave the back plunger open whilst writing, or do you fill the section, close it, and write till the ink gets thin, and reopen/refill?

Thank you for this video. I just bought a Namiki Urushi 50 vermillion, and it was very practical for me. I am wondering that, given the felt like substance inside the cap, if it would be better to abstain from cleaning the insides with water.

Amazing videos. I just found your channel recently. I have a question about the signatures on the pen: My understanding is the one to the right is of the Maki-e group they are in and the one on the left is their name. However, the one in red is of their family crest? Can you help me understand the one in the red? Also, it looked like in some shots the mountains lined up and in some shots they don’t line up. When the cap is fully tightened, do the mountains not line up?

Does it get darker out light the more you use?

Beautiful pens, but at the risk of being brusque, your handwriting isn't up to the task of reviewing such works of art. You don't even attempt cursive writing. One is left wondering what those nibs are capable of.

this is actually very important video. I remember destroy one of my cheaper pilot metropolitan white tiger cleaning it with a eyeglass cleaner liquid because I never believe it really had japanese lacquer since it so cheap. I think its coating merely a cheap plastic coating like pylox airbrush 😅 Thanx got its not any makie fountain pen 😅

Hi Richard, thank to your videos I finally pulled the trigger and I bought the Urushi n.50 black! what a amazing fountain pen! now I want to fill out the Namiki guarantee card but.. I´m a little confused.. there are 4 slots to fill out: 1. M. (my name?) 2. Collection (Urushi?) 3. Model(e) (Lacquer Black?) 4. N I suppose.. the number on the top of the clip.. am I right? or I´m missing something?. Thank you for your incredible videos! keep going!

I think one should write with the arm rather than the hand with these pens.

I found my Izumo initially uncomfortable to hold, but that' was mostly because I was gripping it tightly out of sheer terror at the thought of dropping it.

This has always been my ultimate grail pen but I could never justify the expense on a pen that would be too large to ever use. Really envy large handed people lol

My Namiki Emperor is the basic red one. I felt lucky to have bought it from a chap who had never used it. My only disappointment was that it came with a broad nib. I have been considering taking it to a nib specialist to have it made into a fine.
