I have to agree with the other gentlemen that sounds it didn't make no sense to have a fire above were you sleeping. There is no warmth getting to you. If it's really cold you freeze to death. I like to rock place mahuw

Heat goes up, not down. I am trying to figure out in cold weather why you are trying to warm a shelter with a fire that is built feet above the shelter floor instead of at the floor level.

I would not have used predetermined rocks don't claim survivalists p if it's already pre done nice try

That looks like a frozen creek bed. I would have built the fireplace area where you put up the rock wall enclosure with the exhaust venting at the edge of that massive bolder. Might have kept you warmer but you are the survivalist, not me.

Interesting, I was taught not to camp where there is ice and most of the ground was without ice. Where the single section of ice is will be a cold sink and even 10 feet away would be a little warmer. I don’t know if this is correct since I live where 40* is considered cold

Very good but I think I would of build a place inside for fire aswell to heat the surrounding rock to help stay warm.
