Losing progress on death is kinda the point of DayZ. That's the main motivation to surviving, and that makes the pvp feel impactful. If you safely re-kit yourself at your base every time you lose a character, you basically have "extra lives", like Super Mario. Games like Rust only have survival mechanics as a flavor feature, and dying without consequence trivializes pvp.

Hi as some one that nearly has the same amount of hours of you you actually do just suck at the game, plus your problem is built on a fallacy the incentive to play is not to loot it is to have a unique adventure that will never be the same, it literally says it in the trailer like a decade ago “it’s your story” or whatever they say, looting is merely the vehicle in which you have the adventure, like say you are looting and you come across some one and you guys decide to team up, what do you do? You go to nwaf or the bunker or whatever to get better gear. Whats that? There’s another player at nwaf he shoots at you your friend whom you’ve been struggling to survive with for the past hour gets he’s knee cap turned to red mist, he wakes up and crawls to after safety as you cover him, yada yada you get the idea the point of the game is to have a unique experience that is facilitated by the need / want to acquire new shit

It does not need to be "streamlined" like you believe it should. It needs more CONTENT (like basebuilding for example its bare bones compared to what some mods offer) , better balancing and more survival/gameplay mechanics to provide the INCENTIVE for DIFFERENT playstyles ( it does not need to be a simple basebuilding game only that rust or ark is. ) The developers wont listen to you....they have not listened the community for years. A fken joke of a studio...over a decade of development and STILL in beta since 2018 and they have not even fixed some of the minor issues the game has. Only servers worth playing are community ones.

Hate to say but PS5 absolutely cannot handle dozens of large bases throughout the map. Right now if you come across a large duper base you can’t even look at it bc your frames go from 50-60 to literally 5. It’s a performance issue on console and I can’t stand it when I see one.

On pc the servers I play have better building mods on it and its just walls and doors you can place. Makes things a lot easier/

IMHO, I think dayz is like a perfect piece of marble waiting to be crafted into an amazing statue. It is a very good game that has not reached its fullest potential. I think it needs to feel more post-apocalyptic. Dayz should stay difficult, but not as time-consuming; the amount of time you have to put into Dayz is absurd. Games can be difficult and not take hours to reach their climax; take, for example, Dark Souls, it is one of the most difficult games and yet more people like it than people like Dayz. This is because it does not take ten hours to get an amazing weapon and lose it instantly. However, how can someone kill you without that happening? Heres how: you base it more on survival by making combat more difficult, supplies easier to find, the weather harsher, zombies more difficult, bases better, and by adding more crafting recipes.

You're just bored of the game and probably got squad wiped and raided before this video. Either way, DayZ isn't a game. It's a simulator.

I am currently playing on a stalker inspired DayZ server. It's fully modded. It has artefacts. Anomalies, mutants, traders for buying and selling stuff. And custom weather. A custom map. Mission and quests to fulfill. And so on...while this guy is complaining about official DayZ, I am already living a dream in a completely different world and reality that I shaped on my own

I have been a PC gamer since the late 90's. And all through the years I have enjoyed the benefits of modders making great games even better. And for free too! We currently use the RAG building and items mod on our server. And it makes Dayz a completely different game! But I do appreciate the fact that many people prefer a console. And I can see the benefits. And I agree, console players should never feel that there are things PC players can have that they can't. Especially the cost of a new current console.

I totally agree. After running with 2 different groups that were heavily concentrated on building bases spending hours building and crafting just to ultimately end up getting raided one or 2 days after, losing everything. I came to the realization the its pointless to build a base.... its too time consuming... just not worth it in my opinion. I have gone solo and what i do now is just have a stash with barrels somewhwre in the woods... discreet and feels like home to me. It did get discovered once but they just grabbed a few items and left. since then, I moved my barrels in case they comeback as it has been compromised.... i even have a humvee stashed that blends in really nicely with the woods now.... i feel if i had built a wall they would have been insensitivized to destroy everything

I have about 800 hours and i must say,that pretty soon i realized that base building won't be for me,cos you'll get raided anyway sooner or later...Since then,it's just pure survival,fishing and hunting -just chillin...

Agree to disagree. In my opinion the best era of dayz standalone. Was when there was no base building at all. It was about encounter's. Looting surviving and being scared shitless of losing the loot you just found. Hiding statshes unground was all you got with a couple tents. The risk and reward. You want to build up tents reward is place for your loot. Risk someone could come along and find it. Or you just loot and stash stuff underground.

Dude, I've got nearly 5.5k hours on console, and I've built so many bases that have lasted months but the issue lies in the fact you have to dedicate LIKE AN ACUTAL WEEK of your life to make a nice base secure. I just roam now and take what i need.

I disagree. Base building is the last thing I want to do in dayz. You create your own incentives in dayz and thats the best thing about this game. For example I can decide today im going to go to specific town or look for specific item in certain area. Or team up with someone or find a boat and go somewhere, Or go to the bunker or even better scout/survive around the bunker until someone turns up. The more realistic it is the better (to some degree of course). Just like in real life, you would have to create your own incentives: get warm, organize food, then move on to more risky places and anyone can make you spawn back at the coast. You have to plan and your decisions can be difficult at any point. Lets be honest there is no ending to the game, its more of a sandbox that people participate in. I dont think improving base building is the answer to your question

i find the biggest problem with the building to be how confusing it is. Its like Terraria. You cant do anything without having to look at a wiki to see crafting recipies and required tools and stuff
