You're right, he was afraid because he knew the gods were against him, but he finally made a stand and at one point in the battle he struck Achilles dead on in the chest with an attack that would have killed him had he not been wearing the enchanted armor of Hephaestus. Homer stated as much in the story that if it was regular armor the attack would have gone through it. Was it a lucky strike? Maybe, but Hector was the greatest warrior on the field without divine blood so who knows.

      @@thullraven1 Again you are wrong. Hector doesn't know of any interference. Yes Hector is the best mortal warrior Achilles ever faced but not the best warrior. Memnon is better. Secondly Hector ran and he was tricked by Athena who transformed herself into Hector's brother Deiphobus and that gave him courage to fight Achilles again asking his brother for a spear.

      @@EudaimonV I wish I could copy and paste the part where Homer says what I stated. Hector saw one of the gods retrieve the spear for Achilles and when he asked the image he thought was his brother to retrieve his spear, he found out the image wasn't really there and no one retrieved his spear, so yeah Hector knew the gods had decided his fate. I'm in my 60s and have read the Iliad more times than I can count as it's part of my ancestry, history, and upbringing. Everything you said is correct but so is what I said. Bringing up Memnon is pointless. I stated Hector was the best MORTAL warrior. Memnon was also part divine like Achilles so he doesn't count. No need to talk about this further. Please move on.     Africans want so desperately to be remembered for something significant besides their waring and betrayal in to slavery with one another . Yes they had great tribes and great Pharoahs and kingdoms of wealth but alot of it was lost to history and the sands of time. It is true that slavery redefined their present history.       According to the myth, when Memnon clashed with Achilles, Zeus made both demigods so huge that they could be seen from every angle of the battlefield. Zeus also made them tireless which meant that they had to fight to the death which is a testament to the strength and power of the Aethiopian King.     I love history… I love scripture… and this story is important to my timeline I work on. I 100% believe that the Trojan war happened before Abraham was born. Abraham was born 333 years after the flood. I believe that all characters in the Trojan war were direct decedents to Noah. All involved were super people….. infected with fallen angel breeding. After the flood…. All these great names will be tracked back to Ham, and Canaan, and Cush, and memnon is a good candidate for Nimrod. Maybe. Strong connections.
