I-Joist with Egger Peel Clean Flooring
I-Joist with Egger Peel Clean Xtra P5 Flooring
The engineered joints are intentionally set with the expanding glue which forms a seal between the peel-clean surface and the glue allowing the flooring beneath to get some protection from the rain whilst the timbers are exposed to the elements, all of which can be removed once the building is watertight.
My first choice would have been to use Metal Web Joists manufactured by OFP TimberFrame in Kent but this wasn't really an option due to delivery costs.
These joists are called JJI's (manufactured James Jones)

Lifting 300kg & 600kg Steel Beams
มุมมอง 931หลายเดือนก่อน
Just amazing, thanks to family, friends and neighbours these steel beams were moved into the house and lifted into place. Due to the larger beam being 600kg we had to use two Genie Load Lifters. #timberframe #Genie #diy

DIY Timber-Frame House Panels.
มุมมอง 286หลายเดือนก่อน
Manufacturing the timber-frame panels on the concrete floor slab and lifting them into position. This is only the ground floor panels. 1st-floor joists, 1st-floor panels and roof will be uploaded when available. Happy to answer any questions you may have in the comments. #timberframe #lifting #diy
Ground Floor Slab & Soleplate
มุมมอง 5222 หลายเดือนก่อน
Finally managed to pull a few video clips, and images, together to show what we have been doing during these last few months. I told Frances that she wouldn't be mixing any cake mix in her new kitchen until she mixed the concrete for her kitchen floor. Seemed to do the trick 😂 Mixing and pouring your own house, insulated and reinforced, concrete slab with the soleplate installed ready for the t...

Foundation Walls up to DPC Level
มุมมอง 3497 หลายเดือนก่อน
These are the walls that will support the timber-frame structure, including floors and roof. There will be an additional external wall/skin for the external masonry and stone finish to the building. The top of this wall is at the same level as the DPC and finished ground floor level. #diy #block #selfbuild
From Foundation to Finished Floor Level
มุมมอง 3278 หลายเดือนก่อน
The inner front foundation wall from foundation up to house finished floor level. The outer skin will be roughly the same hight acting as a retaining wall. All the inner skin walls will finish at this level. Eventuall the timberframe will sit on this wall with the outer skin supporting the external masonry. Most of the blockwork you are seeing will eventually be below the ground. I'm happy to s...
How to Herd Cows that don't want to be herded. 😂
มุมมอง 688 หลายเดือนก่อน
Whilst working on our site the cows were removed from the field next door. It looked really dangerous for the guys having several large cows trying to avoid going into the trailer. Fun to watch though :) How to Herd Cows that don't want to be herded. 😂 #cow #farming #selfbuild

Amazing work Charles, well done.
Thank you Adrian 🙂
I can tell you right now, that ain’t 600kg
What weight do you think it is?
So Sandy. Its actual weight is 592.028kg. The beam is 254x254x89 UC @ 6,652mm long. 6.652 x 89 = 592.928.
By your own admission it’s 592.028kg, not 600kg. Why do you feel you need to lie to the internet? You just get found out
@@SANDYFRECKLE 😄😄😄
I'd love to see it in the flesh when it's finished! One heck of a job. Out of interest, are you aiming for a bungalow or a two-storey?
Fantastic! Please keep these videos coming: I'm actually waiting for them now! That house is really motoring now.
Great team effort.
Wow.xx
That is really impressive Charles. Credit to you.
😊
Excellent work Charles!
Thanks Stuart 😊
And now some walls.
Already going up 😊
Wow! This is really taking shape now. Quite fantastic.

Wow didn't realise there was a wee cottage there b4 😱 love stuff like that
Awe I never seen the land like this wow u certainly did do lots before the build 😊
Wow! It's really moving on!
Now that the weather has improved a little. 🙂
You two are amazing.
Brilliant. It's definitely moving on.
You are made of tough stuff Charles. I am full of admiration, but you wouldn't catch me out in all weathers working as hard as you are.
Much respect to you, Charles. Watching the house rise up layer by layer drives home the astonishing amount of work you are accomplishing. One day, you and Fran will sit in your cozy home and look around at the fruits of your toil with justified proud joy.
Really moving on now. Are you and Fran really doing this on your own?
Oddly enough, I quite like that!
I agree. However we had no choice but to cut it down as the excavator couldn't get in. It will grow back but we will keep it at sensible width and hight
😍
What is the noise level please?
Compared to a belt drive or direct drive the gears grind and make a lot of noise especially when fully loaded.
Just wondering, Charles, what is the reason for having your footings in steps? Does it somehow help the following brickwork?
Hi @ICR68. We will be building on a partly sloping site. If the foundations are also sloping and we build our house walls on this then the house will slide down the slope. Stepping the foundations makes it possible to always have perfectly level foundations on a sloping site.
@@The-DIY-House That is really interesting. If the ground is sloping but you still put in a level horizontal foundation, I guess that would also mean digging deeper on one side of the house than the other.
You need a mop...
You must have done something per-etty bad, Frances!
Wow… so it wasn’t Phil the pheasant nicking the digestives!
You planted little trees 🌳
Frances did in February 🙂
Baš je lep
Hvala vam. Prekrasan je kao što kažete.
like it. well editing. goodbye. 😮
Nice job mum
Do I get a prize for being the first comment? Looking good, you guys.
Haha, yes. You get to choose any stone off the top of the stone pile. The only downside is you have to collect your prize in person.
