2014 Utila Spotted Eagle Ray Couple

The southeast edge of Utila is the "Eagle Ray Alley" dive site. Guess what, there ARE eagle rays there. Very cool, close encounter.

Utila Honduras has a very nice reef system. Almost never any currents and the wild life is abundant.

Lucky they took the "no jumping" sign down. The cliffs were about 50ft. It was awesome.

The sperm whales live here year around. Good fun to see them up close. Shot with a Lumix and a GoPro

It looks a lot like arroyo Seco canyon in Kings CIty, CA. Too bad Maria is pummeling the island as I write.

Yes, but not required. We stayed at the Fort Young Hotel in Roseau (very nice BTW). We used the onsite site tour folks (www.khattstours.com/). The benefit of a tour company was transportation AND floatation. All of us were there to scuba dive, hence good swimmers. They gave us a around-the-waist floaty which we all balked at. Once we hit the water (can't touch the bottom in the canyon) and distance, wow an important device for the full experience. There was a french family there at the same time that did not have the floaty..clearly not having as much fun.
