when i land a stab i almost never feel like its bullshit since my internet connection is good and i understand how the hitreg works, the only times it might throw me off is when an opponent is super laggy and their playermodel is way off from their collision box. In those situations you dont really think about how it looks but where their hitbox actually is which makes it so questionable and it feels like its never in your favor.

@@SIurgi I play on like 50-70 ping so the timing is always off so even if I time it to when they look the wrong way it seems like I can never get the stab even if I played it right, its super frustrating cause I see their side and it's still a butterknife even if I stab before their player model shows their side. It just feels like I can't improve and am forced to stick to regular spy gameplay aside from the occasional stair stab on a noob. I don't know if its a timing thing and but I'm stabbing when I feel that the stab should land and it doesn't, sometimes I get the crit sound but I don't know if that means I stabbed too late or too early. The only time I know a stab is gonna land is if they have decent internet and I'm standing directly behind them. It's just frustrating seeing good spy players and knowing you'll never be able to be a fraction of their skill level. Sadly the only way I can see that I might improve would be to get a cheat to show me the real hitbox so I can actually see what I'm trying to stab.

@@robert7100 you can play spy pretty fine with even 100ping its just that you need to account for the delay, things will unreg more often but its very manageable. Klown played a lot on 100ping and still performed fine. You just need to play more and learn the stab timings with your movement. Cheats are bad for practice since spy's hardest part is the stab timings and cheats completely negate for that. Crit sounds are client side so you get them whenever your client registers it as a backstab but the serverside doesn't.

@@robert7100 Your intuition is probably wrong currently and you need to play and try different stab timings and adjust with your movement to adapt it and not get stuck on this mindset. Your intuition will get better and better the more you try out different things.

@@limabean8948 he means network settings, like ping etc, what the players see might be a delayed version of his actual movements, allowing him to easily make plays turn their backs towards him.
