Thanks!! I use a DJI Mini 3. I've learned that most of the time slow and steady looks better. Not to mention the obstacles around tracks. This is my third drone body. From hitting a power line or tree limb. Thanks for the info. I always try to catch the military gear when they are close to me. Cool to know that where it's going and from. I love military trains and identifying the from & to helps show how normal these moves are (as you know). Shoot video only with trains. Once in a while I'll grab a photo with my phone. But as far as these videos, I grab a still with the font from the video during editing. Sometimes the still isn't in the video. But rarely. I use two Canon G7X on tripods and the drone. Edited in DaVinchi. I'm gonna make a "how I get sound on my drone shots" video soon. But in short the sound comes from the cameras on the ground. Thanks for watching!! I cruise by this crossing often and check the signals and if they are green I usually set up real quick.

I use a DJI Mini 3. The audio comes from the Canon G7X cameras on the ground. I sync it with the record beep on location in front of the A camera and line up the wave form audio and video files in sync with that beep, on the tracks in DaVinci. An Iphone would work as well both on video and voice memo. I use two cameras on the ground and the drone. Sometimes I add my phone as a third camera. If I don't get the chance to get the beep recorded before the engine is there I use the edge of the crossing to time sync it up. I try to get set up and recording when I know a train is coming and then get back a safe distance and in shade so that I can fly the drone. They are pretty much a 7 to 5 company. I've never seen any movement outside those hours. Or weekends. There's a FB group for updates if you're not a member. Georgia Northeastern Railroad (Patriot Rail). I find out there or I hear them from my house off Blackwell. At least two SB and two NB per week. Thanks for watching!!

Sure. I fly DJI so to fly near an airport like Dobbins or Cobb requires an authorization license. Which I get at account.dji.com/login?appId=flysafe-websdite-be&locale=en_US. There is a map system after registering your controller/drone serial. If you are beginning. Go to a park on a Sat. or Sun. morning and practice. For rail photography I've found slow smooth easy shots are better to watching. I edit out all the rough movement re-framing. I use the drone controller record beep as a mark to sync the two ground cameras I use with the drone footage in Davinchi. I'm set up to jump out of my truck and fire up the drone and start recording. So I try to park smart and away from the rails and crowded areas. Early mornings are better. No distractions are better when flying a drone. Don't turn your back on the train while flying the drone. Look up at the train every few sec. Keep and eye on it. Find a free public parking spot near the tracks and if the drone will fly then fly. Go up over the power lines and trees at first. Move slow down low. Faster up higher. Cartersville is a good open area on the south side of the depot a block. Also Austell. Marietta at some times. But you'll have to fly north of the cell tower because that's where Dobbins airspace begins. Kennesaw is not good for drones. Too many trees and Cobb Airspace. Smyrna meh. Emerson is good in the parking lot of the Lakepoint Station. Austell is great wide open and no airspace. And lots of trains. Thank you for watching and you can ask questions any time. Oh get the replacement plan if you haven't. I've rubbed powerlines and trees and crashed so with the plan it was quick, easy and not to expensive to replace the drone body.
