Hi Susan! So nice to find you here. Hope you are doing well. I still enjoy them and think of you whenever I look at "One Mind, Many Bodies" and "The Evolution of the Desert Is Left Handed."
Thank you
El parque Nacional más hermoso que he visitado. Te embruja y te enamoras, de ese lugar. ❤️❤️🙋
Thanks for some great memories. after my winter accident on Twin Sisters....my chances for seeing in person tese absolutely remote lookouts were remote. I did work in Southern OR on Parker Mt with my girl friend. Just still gotta me one of the lower 48s most remote areas. Bravo.
Cheryl is a truly brave woman.
CHERYL STRAYED IS A GOOD AUTHOR.
Wow, so many memories of NCI and Saul over the years. Thank you to all, they brought me to tears!
She says it better than anyone, every time.
Welp time to go on a hike
WILDERNESS is only a small part of what we call "Nature" ... and that is scary. If we can't reduce our population: at best, most people won't even have access to wilderness. At worst, most wilderness in the world will be destroyed.
REI didn’t open in NYC until 2011, not 1994 likes she’s recounting. The store she’s referring to was actually the EMS in SoHo, where I bought much of my backpacking equipment for the Sierra Nevada in the 2000’s
Finally watching this! Sorry for the delay. Youth Leadership program continues to be wonderful. Hearing how the students learned about climate change was interesting - and good to know their learning is evolving. Wish I could have met you this summer.
Thanks so much for helping ME envision a more sustainable future and to do a better job of taking action to solve climate challenges. Really appreciate all the perspectives on this podcast!
Wow Susan! Wonderful to hear you!
"the wildest mountains in North America"
Whoohoo! I love uuss
That's beautiful.
Just started reading this and I'm already in love. I'm so doing this. 🥰
I heard her interview with Oprah today, I can’t wait to read
I've read two books by Pyle: Wintergreen and Chasing Monarchs. I bet that there aren't many people in the world who have read two of Pyle's books!
i already went.. it was fun.. i dint like it.. i barfed and hit my head
Dr. Pyle Christopher Hitchens (no less) referred to Nabokov as "the unrivaled master of English prose". Heady praise, and that was only in the literary arena! He must have been one helluva guy.....
There are so many amazing lookouts to visit in the N. Cascades. I would love to see a video compiling footage from more of the N. Cascades lookouts like Three Fingers, Winchester Mountain, Goat Peak and others. The hike to Three Fingers lookout alone deserves it's own video, especially the final cliff ladders to the lookout itself.
So strange to hear her use the term backpacking in relation to hiking. In my part of the world backpacking means to travel on the cheap but not In the wilderness. Think budget traveller.
Thanks, enjoyed "Wintergreen"

too bad the video is only 360p!
What a beautiful voice and a brilliant story. Going to go buy this now. I fell asleep listening to it, like someone was reading me a bedtime story, lovely :)
I realize Im pretty randomly asking but do anyone know a good site to watch newly released movies online ?
Woody and I enjoyed the company of Brian on our trip to Costa Rica
What a wonderful path Adam is following. I'm sure when he entered the program he had no clue where that path might lead, but he took the plunge and the work he is doing with tribes was never more important. Good for you, Adam. You make us proud.
I had never heard of him, but I see how important he was to the North Cascades Institute. That in itself was a most worthy endeavor. RIP.
I mean she made Oprah cry she is awful.
Can u like, y’know, show any evidence?
There is a good reason Cheryl Strayed's talks about cutting in Conway help us realize she is not really genuine or anyone we ever would want to read about especially when she smiles after talking about her mother's death that's when you know she's a liar and a jerk.
You're a jerk! As a long distance hiker myself I know she's genuine as fuck! She is brutally honest and raw and real.
@@MrLeonightis unless you've walked in her shoes dont judge so quickly. Moreover, she tried to find herself and process all of her choices in life. More than most people will do in a lifetime. She took the time to build herself up from a childhood most cant imagine.
I love her ♡
I love your work and I'm glad I chose to present your work and life to our class at North Hennepin Community Collage.
When I clicked on this video i was so excited because I got interviewed for this. Then at the end I realized that I was never included. A little disappointment, but its still a great video!
Fantastic!
Love it! :D
Im gonna tommorow! SO EXCITED!
How was it?
I live in Washington and we did the macroinvertabrate thing on a field trip a few months agi
+thread4souls for some reason I thought of you while I was watching this I cant really remember at what point you popped into my head at any rate i thought you might like hearing some of the story from the book "Wild"
I'm going there next week!so excited!
hiker hobos populate trails instead of highways otherwise whats the diff?
