how does exo movement and abilities make a “not call of duty” cod game? take AW, BO3, and IW out of the franchise, and what do you have for those 3 years? boredom. black ops 3 is the perfect example of a fresh experience for games that lies far beyond “special abilities” and “fringe”. exodus, evac, combine, hunted, just a few examples of phenomenal maps that were both competitive and fun across all game modes. i understand the frustration from the overwhelming flip of people glazing bo3, but for certain, the third installment of the black ops series held the community in a trance for years after the release, and for good reason.

With CoD4, it's not what guns are in the game, it was the GIANT shift and the effect it had on the games iindustry. It singlehandedly changed the FPS genre, brought video games truly into the mainstream, and it was based in an area of the world that at the time was a major active warzone as well as the contents of the campaign being very shocking. It even standardized the control scheme for shooters! Without experiencing it at the time and seeing how EVERY shooter copied it in so many ways, and the ripples it made in the gaming world most probably won't appreciate it, because they're all things that you see as normal and standard now but it nearly all came from CoD4

C4 take is valid tbh, I think it’s more so seen as a top CoD because it was the first to lay out the overall foundation for MP. Solid list, agreed tbh.
