Mature BUCKS Daylighting - Oct. 26th HUNT
It's Oct. 26th and mature BUCKS are daylighting on my cell cameras. It's time to get out in the woods so I head up the Farm. I see 3 mature BUCKS on my hunt and hope to get a shot.

The end of October I encountered the BIGGEST Buck on the Farm in an evening archery hunt. Following a doe he new I was there but took the risk to get his girl. I had him at 20 yards and just could not get a shot. Quartered to, behind tree branches, just out of range. You name it, it happened! So close to sealing the deal on a BIG NYS buck.
Don't Be Afraid to Move Your Sets When You Encounter Pressure on PUBLIC Land

Public land deer hunting is all about finding places other hunters aren't going. Off season scouting is helpful, but in season scouting and evaluating trial camera data can really show you were hunter pressure is the highest. Don't be afraid to move sets in season on Public to get away from pressure and increase your odds of success.

I harvested the biggest buck of my life 2 years ago, BUT... it was a frontal shot and I was so lucky to have recovered this beautiful mature buck and not wound him. I continue to learn every time that I am in the woods. Sometimes from things that I do correctly, but most of the time from mistakes I have made. It was really tough not to take a shot at this buck on the farm, but I did learn from my past experiences and was patiently waiting for him to offer me a higher percentage shot. I did not harvest him , but he is not wounded and is still out there somewhere. I am trying to use my experiences in the woods to be a more knowledgeable and ethical hunter. I am excited for PA hunting camp. 5 days and counting. Our camp is mostly a group of archery hunters that also gun hunt. Most of us walk into areas where we don't see people and sit over funnels or where trails come together. Then we come back to camp and tell stories and drink some beers!!!

I have studied frontal shots for years but have never taken one. I have hunted for 30+ years and have never encountered a buck within archery range older than 3.5 year old. I am totally confident in my shot under 20 yards and never imagined how quickly a mature, 6.5 year old buck would react. You are right! It was not the right situation to take that shot and I was so fortunate to have harvested him and not wounded him. I have learned a ton from this experience. I bought a newer, faster bow and if in the same situation I would not take the same shot. I am an average hunter and I tell honest stories on my channel. Sometimes everything works out the way I planned and sometimes the hunt does not go as expected. I hope that I learn something from every experience that will allow me to be more knowledgeable about deer and deer behavior and take more ethical shots in the future. I appreciate your honesty and hope that you have an enjoyable fall in the woods. Please watch the video I just posted last night. "BIGGEST Buck on the Farm - Archery Hunt"

Little tight sleeping up top but after a full day in the woods I don't think I will have any trouble falling asleep. I already took a nap up there on a trip.

@@bryanbeanz9555 I agree Bryan. I got super lucky! 30+ years of deer hunting and I have never had a deer older than 3.5 yrs old within archery range. I have studied the frontal shot for years but have never taken it. I am totally confident in my shot under 20 yards. I learned so much from this experience that will help me take more ethical shots in the future. My old, slow bow is now replaced, I would not shoot at an alert deer again and if I ever took another frontal shot I would have to be so much closer. Not even sure I would after how quickly that mature buck reacted. I am so glad that I did not would such a beautiful animal. We all definitely learn from our mistakes. This experience is no different. TY for your honesty. I hope that you have a great season!

I cant get my 6.0 to work in the shooting mode. Whole reason I bought it. Customer service is not being very helpful or quick. I have been going back and forth with them for over a week and now dove season is almost over and deer season is almost here. No matter what the shooting mode will not activate and record as it should. pretty upsetting.

@@CastBlastCamp That is so frustrating. I have never had an issue with the shooting mode. I just don’t like the quality. I would suggest telling the company it doesn’t work and you want it exchanged. I do love it. Just wish the quality was better. I did buy an SD. Are with a higher write speed and the picture is better. Take a look at 2 of my videos for examples. Muzzleloader Deer Drives and Spot and Stalk Doe in the Rain

So sad that there is hunters taking poor shots just to film themselves to get a buck . No need to watch your channel based on your choices you make. Do it the right way !!

@@BrianOtterbeck A choice. And a choice I wish I had over again. I am an average hunter who had never been in that situation before. I am extremely confident in my shot under 20 yards. I have practiced a frontal shot for years but never taken one. I had no idea how fast a mature buck would react. The largest buck I had ever seen within bow range was 3.5 years old. I learned a lot from this situation to help me make better decisions moving forward. My bow was too old and slow, don’t take a frontal shot on an alert, mature deer, and try to exercise patience to wait for a more ethical shot. I am positive I am not the only hunter that learns from their mistakes. As for the video, I show the good and the bad because there is no hunters in the world that always have successful hunts. I strive to share my honest stories with those who want to watch them. I hope that you have a successful upcoming season and a great day! Curt
