Body Work on 1971 Mercury Cougar. How Did the Vevor Dent Puller Do?
#vevor #mercury #cougar
A little review on the Vevor dent puller. I think it worked out good. It is definitely better than what it was and should take a lot less filler to make it straight.

    • @theawakening5548
      @theawakening5548 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @billsiclari7151 The steel bands are clipped on, so those should pull off and expose the band. Be careful the band is pretty brittle. The other issue is going to be the clips. They do not make those anymore. I was told that BMW clips work, which I got, they work OK, but not as good as the original.

      In auto tech class we did not work on MGB's. It is not like I was completely clueless. I made the video because at that time there were no videos out except for MG university on these cars. If I did it wrong someone that had the knowledge of these cars would have said something.

    After finding mine was a bit hit and miss (unreliable) I decided to investigate inside. What a bodge up! The PCB was not in its slide carrier slots! What's more if it was correctly positioned, the AAA battery would not fit? With that inaccurate construction, its hardly surprising that the switch does not make proper contact some of the time. I think I can improve/ repair it with a little piece of ingenuity.

    • @theawakening5548
      @theawakening5548 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @anglosaxon1622 I agree. It does seem finicky at times. When I do use it, I test it on multiple switches and sockets.

    • @theawakening5548
      @theawakening5548 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not sure what you mean. The knob off the switch? When you turn the knob can you feel the rod turn? You can take a pair of needle nose and try and move the rod and see if the switch works. To keep the knob on you can always drill a hole and put an allen nut in there to keep it from spinning. Just make sure you put it on the flat side. If you wrap the rod with some electrical tape you might be able to make it tight enough to turn it. If it is something else let me know.

    The ballast is built into the wiring loom. If you have white wires with a green strip going to the + side of coil, you have a ballast system. To install electronic ign, just disconnect the white and green from the + side of coil. The - side of coil may have a black and white wire which is the tach. That stays on the - coil. Run a new red wire from the fuse box that is power on with ignition only to the + side of coil. Attach red wire from electronic ign to + side of coil. Attach black wire from the distributor to the - side of coil.Make sure you have a 12v - 3 ohm coil. That basically bypasses the built in ballast system. Mark the location of the wires before removing so that points and a condenser can be added back later if the electronic ign. fails. Going back to points will require a 1.5 ohm coil.

    • @theawakening5548
      @theawakening5548 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you so much. I appreciate the info. The hardest thing on this is the color on the wires were faded and none of the diagrams matched the wiring that I had. The other weird thing is I think I had it hooked up as you described and it would run for a while, then I would lose spark and have to move the wire to a different source. I think I moved it a couple times back and forth. MGB's with their wiring nightmares. It was very weird.

      I know how you feel. I am sorry you lost your tri, it is not easy at all when they go. Especially at 9, you do feel like you were cheated in a way. We lost Ozzie almost 2 years ago, 3 years before that was Abbie. That was really hard and it is tough to get another pet after something like that. Ozzie had kidney failure and it was tough to watch him go through that, he was such an active dog. The best thing to do is to remember the good times that you had with them. We really were not looking to get another pet this just happened and I believe things happen for a reason. Take the time to heal. After not having a pet for 2 years it does feel good to have another at your side. Plus it gets me out walking which is healthy for us both.

      If we got him as a puppy, I think that is what I would have named him. However, Tucker fits his personality better he is is not much of a cuddle dog like our last corgi Ozzie was. That may change though once he settles more.

    I got a 1990 F-250, I'm trying to get my interval wipers to work, I know my wiper motor is fairly old but my wiper switch is brand new. First thing i checked was that wire lol. Its either the motor or the windshield governor module. I hope I figure it out! Nice Video.

      Thank you. I hope it was helpful. The module was definitely not put in the right place by the e brake. I cannot remember, but if it did not have a ground the interval did not work. It has been a while.

    Question why did you remove t tops ? Did you install them on another car . I have a 1978 Fast back with no rot and no t tops . But I just purchased another 1978 fast back with t tops I'm thinking of putting them on the good car . What's your thoughts

    • @theawakening5548

      I needed this T-Top channel for the green one that I was repairing. If I get a donor car that has t-tops and the channel is in good shape I take them off. There have been a couple people that I have seen on facebook that converted hard tops to t-tops. It is a job from what I hear. If you are good at fabricating, give it a shot. You will need t-top molding, but you should have the interior pieces if they are still with the t-top car. You might be able to cut everything out that you need and weld it in.
