"Huge" risk ? Saying that, means you have no experience with the combination of L173, 236 and 46 whatsoever :-) I had them for 11 years, had a few hundred babies but unfortunately not one hybrid nest. And believe me I tried. Then I would be rich haha.

I reached my goal to see 120+ zebras swimming at one time so I eventually swapped those boring black&white tales for much more entertaining black&white disks 😁

Thanks, this setups was several years ago. The plecos grow really slow in comparison with oscar. It was 100liters (250x70x60cm)

7 years mixed tanks...not once a hypan hybridization. I wish!! Then I was rich :-) during those years, the most warnings about hybridization probably came from "haters" who even hadn't any hypans :-D. Check in Google "hypancustrus hybrid" ... you will find hardly any CONCRETE results... after how many? 30+years that hypans are known in the aquarium hobby? :-) In Asia they are obsessed about hybridization of fish and even over there, they practically have cultured any concrete hybrids. :-) maybe some doubtful pics but nothing concrete...

That’s good to know. I recently added 6 adult zebras to my breeding group. I initially had 7 and they were spawning but sadly I lost 2 due to some frozen brine shrimp that must’ve defrosted at some point cuz it also killed two Discus in another tank. After the 2 losses I haven’t had a single spawning event in my group so I hoped adding the new adults would get them spawning again but it’s been a war zone in my tank for the past few weeks since I added them. I have a lot of driftwood and terra cotta caves with slate over them in the tank to provide a ton of hiding places. Do you have any issues with aggression in your colony setups?

jellevranst do you mean fighting between 173’s and 46’s or within the group of 173’s?

@@zebrapleco7895 I had one group of 173 (with some 46) where a 173 male killed almost the entire group by trapping them to death. So always make your caves big enough:-)

Pedro Pucci it was natural fauna at that time, they are a kind of water fleas... i had a lot of them for certain time... didn't do anything wrong so let them be... after a while it just disappeard.
