Flight to the Geographic Center of the United States with Jim, 20241101
On this flight with Jim I set out to try to find the Geographic Center of the United States, which is some twenty miles North of Belle Fourche, SD. On the way out I wanted to have a look at a few other things, the Infinity Landing airport, an area SouthEast of Tilford, record Bear Butte again (never boring), Spearfish, Belle Fourche, the Geographic Center of the United States, and then before turning back home I made a quick swing to MT and WY, because I was very close to that "tri-state corner". I am always useful for useless stuff, so getting a few seconds of MT and WI was in my plan. Fly back, over Bear Butte, and fly the TACAN-A approach to Ellsworth Airbase, and land back home in Rapid City.
The flight map is here:

0:02:05 the highway
0:08:10 Infinity Landing private airport
0:11:34 joining the highway near Piedmont to head N
0:13:31 Tilford coming up. The evening before an Army Chopper was circling something SouthEast of Tilford. I turn and saw an empty field and a plateau. I turn East to cross over both of them, then head N towards Bear Butte
0:20:34 Bear Butte, the top is at 4426 ft., so I crossed it at 5000 ft. as I have to stay at least 500 ft. above any man-made structures (FAR 91.119), and Bear Butte has some installation at the top. And I verified with my GPS that my altitude over ground was at least 500 ft. when directly over it
0:26:05 the highway again
0:30:51 Spearfish airport
0:37:02 Belle Fourche (town)
0:39:51 Belle Fourche (airport)
0:46:46 I try to hit the pond with my shadow, I missed it by maybe 15 ft.
0:47:38 the actual Geographic Center of the United States coming in. This looks a tad depressing from the air. On the opposite side of the farm you see a narrow path leading SouthEast from the road, then there come two spots that look like meteor impacts. The center is the first one, coming from the road
0:47:42 the actual Geographic Center of the United States. It's the small white spot at the bottom of the image
0:55:56 I am now in MT, turning S to fly to WI, then back to Bear Butte. One wide gentle nonstop turn. I let Jim fly us to Bear Butte
1:05:42 Belle Fourche Reservoir
1:17:02 Bear Butte again
1:18:22 I turn NE to get to YUNGS intersection to start the TACAN-A approach to Ellsworth Airbase as a practice approach
1:22:15 over YUNGS, turning right to start the holding pattern
1:24:33 turn inbound
1:25:37 re-intercept the 326 degree radial of the RAP VOR, tracking 146, wings level, track inbound
1:33:12 Ellsworth Airbase
1:33:44 ten B1 bombers saying "hello" to us
1:33:58 near the top, on the right side, you see the RCA VOR

Flight over Rivers in EastRiver South Dakota, 20241013
มุมมอง 4414 วันที่ผ่านมา
I must have something with rivers. I like to follow rivers, upstream or downstream, and simply record them. Never a boring moment over American rivers. On this flight I set out to head NorthEast from Rapid City, over the Ellsworth Air Force Base, then straight on to the Antelope Creek, which flows into the Belle Fourche, which flows in the Cheyenne, which flows into the Missouri, which passes b...
Flight around the BlackHills, 20241006
มุมมอง 8521 วันที่ผ่านมา
On this flight I flew with Jim around the BlackHills, clockwise. I wanted to record the solar farm at New Underwood again, on the last flight I only got part of it. We then wanted to see XPoint, and attempting to see if there is even a runway still visible (no). Then North along the West side of the BlackHills, that's in WY, and then back via Spearfish, Bear Butte, Sturgis, Ellsworth, and then ...

Flight over Badlands, Holding Patterns for Scenery, Oct 8, 2023

On this flight I combined two things: practising holding patterns with my autopilot (to see if it does better than I do by hand, conclusion: it does worse), and video footage over Badlands National Park. A large part of the "Northern Edge" of Badlands is along the 230 radial of the Philips VOR, so I used waypoints I formed with the 230 radial of Philips and the 90, 95, 100, ... 150 radials of t...

0:50 is that the Maurice river, East Point lighthouse? I don't really see the lighthouse but I think the road pattern looks correct
Pretty cool, have you flown over 'Reflector City' in any of the videos?
Not directly, that is a bit further South of where my Badlands flights have been. But I came pretty close, my flight th-cam.com/video/C0TEmmkpEpM/w-d-xo.html had a longer segment along the White River, look near 59 minutes, near Interior, I think that comes pretty close to Reflector City. Want me to fly over it and record it? What's there to see? I plan another flight for the next few days.
There is a 'medicine wheel' shaped ring of old cars, you would have the only YT video of the place. @@andreaslauschke3564
Really cool video!
Brilliant work brother. Was this filmed from a real-sized plane or rc? Kind of hard to tell because long range rc planes with mounted cameras these days look the same as manned air planes.
Wow. Just wow !!! Amazing footage. I could identify some of the islands on the middle Delaware section (between port Jervis NY and the Delaware Water Gap NJ-PA) Had to slow the video down and watch :)
Poor.
It was fun to watch. I enjoyed identifying bridges and towns: double span Delaware Memorial Bridge, Commodore Barry Bridge, Walt Whitman Bridge, Philly, all the way up to Eason, the Delaware Water Gap, etc.
Loved all of this except the last 6 bars, they were not to my taste at all. There is a word for it though not a word I should care to use.
Wonderful video.
Did you use the j/link to link ib broker java API? Thanks
This series is just excellent! Both to learn about the topic and to learn Mathematica. Thank you!
can we, the subscribers, be provided with the mathematica notebooks of these presentations?
Brilliant tutorial.
So great! Thank you.
What on the world is going on at 3:13? It's F#, not E# (it's a misprint in the score). Ultimately, this sounds like someone plugged the score into a midi program and recorded the result.
About the tempo: The Menuett is much too fast, but the Toccata is all right. But think he had choosen the wrong sample set. It sounds like a neobaroque organ, which doent suit for a french romantic piece.
I agree with this, but I think the choral was way to fast, and I enjoy the menuett faster.

The registration in the beginning is not bad, quite interesting actually, feels like something like a wonderland or elf's land. But later it feels a bit inharmonic, certain stops stand out too much, not merge well with the other stops. But overall it's quite good performance. Thank you for sharing

No, I've left the community. But I added the link to my server in the description above.

Don't you think it would be interesting to see what the tempo markings actually are on this arrangement! This is one of my favourite pieces and not only have you jot played the most beautiful piece in the suite priere de notre dame but Jesus even boelman himself wouldnt have played it this fast! Based on that, I'm sorry to say that my favourite piece has been corrupted
Too much fast...
Too fast and you are leaving out the beautiful prière a nôtre dame.
what the hell was that ending? its bloody allargando!?!?!?
