    Did anyone go back and find out who did the previous work so they can either correct them or get their license reviewed? -retry dangerous stuff here and wondering how common this stuff is considering how this mechanic is speaking about it, seems very common and shakes my faith in service.

    Why don't the other airplanes have that sliding canopy instead of that single wrong-side door?

    I’ve had my maintenance shop tow my AA5 by the nose wheel assembly using their tow carts. Sounds like I shouldn’t let them do that any longer. What can get damaged?

    • @tfarris7113
      @tfarris7113 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Which parts? I've yet to find something I can't get. Brakes, plastics, body parts, tires, etc. Fletchair or spruce have nearly everything. Lowe's has springs that work perfectly for rudder pedals 🤫

    I've been a victim of leaving that dome light on... only did it ONCE, (knock on wood). I have not yet operated on grass strips, so that steering/braking tip is good to know. As for ice, I've taxied on an iced up ramp many times. You definitely need to taxi at slower than normal speeds and avoid sharp turns and heavy braking unless you want to spin around like a drunk balerina!

    Staying off the ailerons is pretty difficult to do! LoL, very good maneuvers. Thank you. Just a suggestion, but the forward slip along a line could be done at altitude down a road, or railroad etc. in case of an accelerated stall to have time for a recovery.

    David's mom, Maybelle Fletcher, gave me my Private Pilot check ride on my birthday in 1992. I also got instruction from his dad, Larry, on occasion. I thoroughly enjoyed all my flight time with Fletcher Aviation which was based at Hobby Airport in Houston. They had numerous Cheetahs and a couple of Tigers, as well as a Cougar twin. I sure miss those days. My favorite was N9960U which we affectionately called six-oscar-ugly because it had a camo paint scheme with cat eyes and whiskers on the nose. I have a picture of that plane in my logbook.

      I got my PPL at Fletchair at Hobby in 2001. Checkride in 9960U! I loved getting my primary training at Class B. No flap carrier landings to get between the 737s. Great experience. I left my shirt tail in a display on the wall when I left. I wonder if it’s in a box somewhere?

    I left KDRO in summer with my son and luggage on a 100° day. 9500 DA. We got an anemic ZERO fpm at times! But that's what VCOAs are for😁 Also crossed the Sierras at 11000 last summer. AA5s are can-do aircraft!

    In my short time and maybe a dozen hours or so in the Tiger, i remember the yoke being incredibly light and chuckable, I would not necessarily use the term "sports car" as the roll rate comparable. The flaps seemed to make minimal difference in approach speeds and angles compared to the cessna/piper trainers. I definitely enjoyed the extra speed, i believe every bit of the claim that it keeps up with an arrow.

      Cabin width would have been good too, never know who shows up and might be cross shopping this against the Piper/Cessna equivalent

      Height can be deceiving. The canopy is higher Where the pilot's head is, but looks lower when it's open. You have to duck to close it, but my 6'5" buddy can sit upright with a headset.
