Heavy oxidation and peeling clear coat is a widespread problem on many automobiles. L'Oxide is a unique formulation of antioxidants, surfactants, solvents, aromatic hydrocarbons and emulsifiers that will instantly restore your car's paint. An easy Do-It-Yourself application that rejuvenates peeling clear coat and areas of heavy oxidation, removes minor scratches like key marks and restores the shine to exterior trim and plastics.
Chevrolet Cavalier with Oxidized and Faded Car Paint
The 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier featured in this video has clear coat failure and dull, faded paint on the roof and trunk. The paint work on the hood looks like new. In this video, the surface was GENTLY and lightly sanded with a very fine grit wet and dry sandpaper and plenty of water to remove the oxidized clear coat. Extreme care was taken to only remove the flaking clear coat and avoid applying too much pressure which would remove the underlying paint and expose bare metal. After sanding the oxidized edges of the clear coat and rinsing to remove any residues, a single coat of emulsion was applied, followed by a second coat 3 days later. As a DIY operation, all the techniques required to achieve the final result are simple and easy. The final results are so impressive, that the owner is no longer thinking about an expensive repainting to remove the ugly and embarrassing appearance of the car.

Honda Acura with Faded and Oxidized Car Paint
มุมมอง 183K7 ปีที่แล้ว
The 2001 Honda Acura featured in this video has extreme clear coat failure and faded paint over most of the panels and an expensive repainting looked like the only cure. Because most of the clear coat had worn away, rather than peeled, there were no “edges” to be “feathered” to improve the look. Consequently, initial preparation work was limited to a good scrub, using liquid dish washing soap, ...

I have same car same problem
Is it clear coat paint that you wipe on.
So now the car has no clear coat?so it wont last long
Can I clear over this 😭
We have not attempted to apply clear coat on top of the emulsion, so we cannot really answer your question. But you need to bear in mind, that if you want apply another coat of emulsion in say, 6 to 12 month’s time, any clear coat, polish or waxes that have been applied on the car MUST be removed before the application.
After the oxideoff can you polish with wax to bring the shine back?
You can apply a wax coat over the dried emulsion, but feedback from customers tells us the second coat of emulsion gives a better result and of course, is much easier to apply. In addition, if you want to apply another coat in say 6 to 12 month’s time, you will have to remove any wax coat, as it prevents the emulsion reaching the oxides.
Please get to the point..... you're losing us by all that unnecessary talking.....
WE GET YOUR INTENT
It works well on oxidized areas but left some very dull streaks on areas that were not heavily oxidized. (I only wish I had known this prior to application). I waited and then tried again, but the same issue remained. I waited a few days, then washed and waxed with compound but the streaks will not go away. It solved one issue and created new ones in new areas. (I called the phone# at the bottom of the instructions but the call went to a generic voicemail with no greeting). Learn from my mistake. Unlike the video, I personally would NOT recommend using it on areas that do not have heavy oxidation.
Pity you didn't leave a message on our voicemail when you called. It’s a bit hard to advise you. We have only seen "streaking" when either the old polish and waxes have not been completely removed or when the application has been exposed to moisture as it dries - from fog, mist, rain, sprinklers etc. In the few cases we are aware of, the only remedy is to remove the emulsion and start again. Trying to polish the streaks out with wax or rubbing compound will not work. The emulsion lays down a pretty tough micro-membrane as it dries and is not easily removed but in the only cases we have encountered where this is necessary, washing with a mild abrasive (like Comet) and a scrubbing pad like a worn Green Scotchbrite pad, without a lot of pressure on the pad, should achieve a satisfactory result. Sincerely John OxideOff Team
Once the product has cured, can you apply a clear coat on top?

@OxideOff - Very professional reply. From what I've read your product isn't much better after the first rain.
it looks like all you did was rub wd40 on it
Would last about 2 days
Temporary fix is better than just leaving it..

Just tried this on my 2006 Jeep Golden Eagle. Works great! Looks much better now. It's not a new paint job but along way from being an eye soar. It also helped with the large eagle decal which was a very pleasant surprise. So far very happy. Thanks
Doing it in direct sunlight to boot...
sorry i pay in america Are you aware?
Must be a car salesman
Early 80s people wanted plastic coated cars. It will last forever! No it will look like a shedding snake unless you store it in the garage 24/7. My 2000 Ford truck looks horrible with pealing plastic bubbles all over the hood. Needs to be sandblasted & repainted.
I just ordered some of this stuff and I hope it works well I’ll keep you posted!👍
How was it ?
@@picklerick_9037 Not bad. It doesn’t last long. Maybe for about a week. Then you need to reapply. And don’t put the stuff on any good areas of paint! If you have a good panel it will put a film over top of your good paint and it won’t look as shiny. But the guy is completely honest it’s not a perfect fix but it does hide the oxidation spots for about a week. And then if you reapply it to the oxidation spot it will hide it again. Definitely not a cure-all but is a help to hide oxidation spot
I bought this from Amazon this week. I put the first coat on yesterday. My black 2010 Nissan Armada has terrible faded paint on the hood and roof after 12 years and 260k miles, and I was just looking for any improvement. This product certainly made it better after just the first coat. I went to the local self car wash and just did a wash and rinse, no wax or clearcoat protectant. I cut a piece of an old t-shirt and applied it just like the video. My car had huge white splotches all over the hood and roof from the fading paint that are now very dark gray (almost black) at least instead of faded paint white. I'll put the second coat of the product on next weekend. My 260k mi Armada is in excellent running condition and the interior still looks great. In my journey to make my Armada look a little better, this was the first step. I may hand spray paint and clearcoat the hood and roof in the coming months after this product wears off. Don't expect miracles from this product, just an improvement if your paint is severely faded. I'll post before and after pics on their Amazon product after I put the second coat on next weekend.
Thanks for the comments and feedback
Honda should have to fix this screw up with the paint clear coat problem, iv got a Civic and facing the same problem
Emulsion? Why not just clear lacquer the thing?
Will wet sanding and clear coat be better forcan old car?
Maybe Bill. Depends on the underlying paint so don't sand through to the metal and be careful of overspray with the clear coat
@@oxideoff7387 thank you. I have a 05 silverado with peeling paint. Would it work I wet sanded, sprayed a thin coat of color than few coats of clear with a spray can? Just trying to not get rust and look decent.
@@billargueta5458 Bill - our product will not work on top of recently spayed clear coat. You re better off to put on several layers of clear coat
I just got some of the product today I used Lukat Fix It before multiple times but this product seems to work faster I know he uses a terry towel when applying that. I see you wipe the product on and it was off fast. I have a polisher though but for oxidation wiping it off the way you apply it is faster than the back and forth method with a towel of the Lukat Fix It product. Better to have a product that works fast to get job done quicker. I like detailing and auto painting but painting more but just do my own vehicles not good enough at auto painting yet but will be painting my vehicles. I would like to do painting and detailing for a job working for myself one day but only been doing both more the last two years got into it more after I painted my old truck for first time I can tell was getting better last year but still got too much orange peel after painting. But I really want to do what God wants me to do over what I want.
how’d lukat work? i’m trying to find a cheaper alternative than repaint
@@JamesDea45 One link is the Lukat Fix It guy using the product so you can understand the product better and the other link is the Oxide Off product never used the Oxide Off product yet though but it seems to be a product that will work faster than Lukat Fix It and you won't have to rub it in the same spot to get rid of the oxidation as long because the Lukat Fix It guy uses a towel when he applies the product and the Oxide Off man uses a piece that looks like a t shirt when he rubbing it on. Here is the links for you to understand it more and then you can see their other videos too I look at the Speedkote videos because he paints vehicles because I like auto painting more than auto detailing but I still look at auto detailing videos too but I have a lot off stuff for both of them now. I just today was putting two of my air sanders in a garage sale today because I already have 4 sanders the rest are Lithium Ion sander and a electric sander Bauer brand. how much does it cost?
Just another useless product trying to get your money, time and sweat.

Honda/Acura are always bad with their paint n clear coat. Cheap skate at the manufacturer

Antioxidants, Surfactants, Solvents and Emulsifiers
Where do u buy the stuff ur rubbing on?
Amazon or via our web site at oxideoff.com
Still looks like shit. Just get a respray and don't use this cheap crap
This product looks better and faster working than the Lukat Fix It what is it called.
Mines far more severe it’s an 05 Civic color grey and it’s paint is really cooked to the bare paint with no clear coat 😂
where to buy emulsion?
"It's a naughty nighty nine" that's one way of putting it.
Is this a ceramic coating?
No
Wash the surface with soapy water, wet sand it with 1000 and 2000 grit sandpaper, wash it off with soapy water, finally use any compound and wax that you'd like and you're all set. The results are the same.
How long Does This Stuff Last?. Will it Deteriorate Over time, Should A Coat Of Wax Like Meguiars Or Chemical guys Butter Wet Wax Work?..
You can apply a wax coat over the dried emulsion, but our feedback from customers tell us the second coat of emulsion gives a better result and of course, is much easier to apply. In addition, if you want to apply another coat in say 6 to 12 month’s time, you will have to remove any wax coat, as it prevents the emulsion reaching the oxides. As to how long it will last and without knowing the circumstances of your vehicle, the weather conditions where you are and whether the car is garaged or not, etc, the general answer is that the emulsion will last about as long as a good wax job.
$31.75 for a 2 oz bottle seems a bit outrageous.
This bottle is sufficient to cover all panels on a full size car - twice. Not so expensive when compared to repainting at around $500 per panel
How do you remove streaks the stuff is a mess
We have only seen "streaking" when either the old polish and waxes or other prior treatments have not been completely removed (so the oxideoff solution cannot penetrate to the oxides) or when the application has been exposed to moisture as it dries - from fog, mist, rain, sprinklers etc. The emulsion lays down a pretty tough micro-membrane as it dries and is not easily removed. In the only cases we have encountered where this is necessary, washing with a mild abrasive (like Comet) and a scrubbing pad like a worn Green Scotchbrite pad, without a lot of pressure on the pad, should achieve a satisfactory result,
the best way to improve my car paint is easy and cheap, great job thanks a lot
I've heard this finish is short-lived. Can you buff over it and get a longer lasting finish? I know that using products like that on headlights without thoroughly wet sanding doesn't last more than 3 months.
need to apply a coat of UV resistant clear coat after the headlights are cleaned
I see alot of clear coat finish but every vehicle I see is done on black let me see you restore something on a charcoal gray😎
Watch our videos. All colors, not just black
